The joint struggle of Greek and Turkish communists against imperialist rivalries, nationalism and war was highlighted by Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), during an event organized by the Party's Central Committee in Athens on Monday, October 12.

The event, entitled “Greece and Turkey in the Vortex of Imperialist Rivalries: The Way Out for the Peoples,” addressed escalating tensions between the two neighboring countries and the dangerous involvement of their ruling classes in wider imperialist confrontations.

On 9 October a dynamic and mass mobilization took place in Elefsina following a call by the North-West Attica organisations of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing, KNE, giving a militant response to the attack by fascists in the town against an athlete for his anti-fascist action. The workers and youth of the area sent a clear message that there is no place for fascists or their poison in the working-class neighbourhoods of Elefsina or anywhere else.

International condemnation over Modi government's repression: Hands Off Indian Communists!

Communist parties from Greece, Britain, Turkey and Bangladesh have expressed solidarity with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the mass protests against the government of Narendra Modi, following the police crackdown in New Delhi and other parts of India on October 10.

Hundreds of protesters, including CPI(M) General Secretary M. A. Baby, senior communist officials, students and youth activists, were detained as demonstrations challenged the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. 

 

Indian Communists denounce Modi government's brutal crackdown in Delhi, call for protests

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has fiercely condemned the mass detentions and police repression unleashed against protesters in New Delhi and other parts of India, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP government of trampling on fundamental democratic rights. 

 

The crackdown came as thousands of young people, students and opposition activists attempted to demonstrate against the Election Commission's controversial revision of electoral rolls, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. 

 

Brazilian Communist Parties call for Lula vote against Bolsonaro, insist on class independence

Following the first round of Brazil's presidential election on October 4, the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) and the Revolutionary Brazilian Communist Party (PCBR) have called for a vote for social-democrat Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva against Flávio Bolsonaro in the October 25 runoff. 

 

Both parties stress, however, that their electoral position does not imply political support for Lula's social-democratic Workers' Party (PT) or its governing programme.

The Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) has issued a strong warning against the country's involvement in the escalating war in Yemen, demanding that the government reject any military commitments that could drag Pakistan into another devastating regional conflict.

In a statement issued by its Central Secretariat, the CPP expresses serious concern over Pakistan's military obligations to Saudi Arabia, warning that existing defence arrangements and the presence of Pakistani military personnel in the kingdom increase the danger of direct or indirect involvement in the war.

During US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Athens, the Greek government agreed to deepen the country’s involvement in US-NATO military plans, expand arms purchases and strengthen energy cooperation serving US and Greek business interests. The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) fiercely condemned these agreements, warning of the growing dangers for the Greek people.

Thousands of workers, students and young people flooded the streets of Athens on Tuesday evening, October 6, in a mass demonstration against the visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Greece’s deepening involvement in US-NATO military and energy plans.

 

Behind the banners of trade unions and mass organizations, demonstrators marched under slogans including “Rubio is unwelcome,” “Neither land nor water to the murderers of the peoples,” and demands for the closure of US military bases and an end to Greece’s participation in imperialist wars. 

 

Moscow: Police detain dozens at rally marking 1993 Yeltsin coup

Dozens of people were detained by Russian police in Moscow following a rally organized by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) to commemorate the victims of the October 1993 events, when the confrontation between President Boris Yeltsin and the Russian parliament culminated in the military assault and shelling of the House of Soviets. 

The detentions took place on October 4, although further details and court proceedings emerged on October 5.

 

“They shall not pass”: British Communists join thousands in Cable Street anti-fascist march

Thousands of people marched through East London on Sunday, October 4, marking the 90th anniversary of the historic Battle of Cable Street, when workers and residents of the East End prevented Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists from marching through the predominantly Jewish neighbourhood in 1936. 

 

Demonstrators gathered outside Tower Hamlets Town Hall in Whitechapel before marching to St George’s Gardens in Cable Street, carrying banners against fascism and racism and repeating the historic slogan “They Shall Not Pass.” Trade unions, community organisations and anti-racist groups were among those taking part. 

 

France: Union of Communist Youth (UJC) expresses solidarity with nationwide student protests

France is witnessing one of its largest high-school student mobilizations in decades. What began with blockades over teacher shortages and deteriorating conditions has spread across the country, with hundreds of schools affected and thousands of students taking to the streets. The movement is demanding more resources for public education, adequate staffing and better school infrastructure, while confrontations with police and the use of tear gas have further intensified tensions. 

Communist Party of Greece (KKE): US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is unwelcome!

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is due to visit Greece on Tuesday, October 6, amid growing opposition to his visit and to Greece’s involvement in US-NATO military plans. KKE organizations have already held rallies and pickets in neighborhoods across Attica, while the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) is campaigning under the slogan “Rubio Go Home”; the KKE is also calling for mass participation in Tuesday’s demonstrations organized by trade unions and the anti-war movement, including the rally at Syntagma Square in Athens at 7:30 p.m. 

 

KKE: Hands Off the Communist Party of Mexico and the Front of Communist Youth!

On October 2, Mexican police violently attacked members of the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) and the Front of Communist Youth (FJC) as they were heading to a demonstration commemorating the 1968 Tlatelolco massacre. Eight communists were arrested and several were injured in the police assault.

Netherlands: NCPN renames itself Communist Party of the Netherlands (CPN)

The New Communist Party of the Netherlands (NCPN) has officially changed its name to the Communist Party of the Netherlands (Communistische Partij van Nederland – CPN). 

The decision was unanimously adopted at an extraordinary party congress held on September 26, according to a political resolution published by the party newspaper Manifest on October 3. The party states that it will continue its struggle for the interests of the working class and for socialism under the historic CPN name. 

Brazil’s Communists ahead of the elections: Alliance with Lula or political independence?

With Brazil heading to the polls in October, three communist parties are approaching the elections from sharply different positions. The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) remains fully committed to the re-election of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the PT-led coalition, while the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) is presenting its own presidential ticket headed by Edmilson Costa, and the Revolutionary Communist Party (PCBR) is calling for an independent revolutionary left position outside both the Bolsonarist camp and the Lula-led broad front.

 

Israel: Netanyahu’s bid to bar communist-backed Hadash from October elections fails!

The attempt by Israel’s right-wing and far-right parties to exclude Arab political representation from the October 27 Knesset elections has been overturned by the Supreme Court. 

 

The court unanimously reversed the Central Elections Committee’s disqualification of the Joint List — comprising Hadash, Ta’al and Balad — and Ra’am, clearing both lists to participate in the election. It also overturned the disqualification of Hadash MK Ofer Cassif. 

 

“Butcher” Marco Rubio heads to Greece — Workers prepare mass protest in Athens on October 6

The All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) is calling for a mass mobilization in Athens against the forthcoming visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urging workers, trade unions and popular organizations to gather at Syntagma Square on Tuesday, October 6, at 7:30 pm. The Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace (EEDYE) has issued a similar call, declaring Rubio “unwelcome” in Greece.

The mobilization stands in sharp contrast to the policy of the New Democracy government, which has deepened Greece’s strategic alignment with Washington and facilitating US-NATO military operations. 

Mexico's Communist Youth marks 12 years since the state crime against the Ayotzinapa students

On 26 September 2026, Mexico marked the 12th anniversary of the disappearance of 43 students from the Raúl Isidro Burgos Rural Teachers’ College of Ayotzinapa, following the attacks of 26–27 September 2014 in Iguala, Guerrero. 

Twelve years and three successive federal administrations later, the fate of the students has still not been fully established; remains belonging to only three of the 43 have been identified. Thousands again marched in Mexico City on the anniversary, led by the students’ parents and accompanied by students from other rural teachers’ colleges, demanding truth and justice.

Spanish communists join nationwide anti-eviction protests: “Maricarmen is not an isolated case”

The Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) and the Collectives of Young Communists (CJC) have joined the nationwide housing protests sparked by the eviction of 87-year-old Maricarmen, forcibly removed on September 23 from the Madrid home where she had lived for more than 70 years. Her eviction triggered protests across Spain and further mobilizations over the increasingly acute housing question.

 

German Communist Party backs youth protests against conscription and militarization

The German Communist Party (DKP) and Socialist German Workers’ Youth (SDAJ) have thrown their support behind the latest nationwide school strikes against conscription and militarization in Germany. Ahead of the September 25 mobilizations, the DKP declared: “We stand alongside the young people who resist conscription, militarization and Bundeswehr recruitment in schools”. It called for investment in education and social security instead of military expansion. 

 

Palestinian communists seek broad electoral alliance to challenge Fatah-Hamas polarization

The Palestinian People’s Party (PPP) is stepping up preparations for the November 28 legislative elections, working to forge a broad left-wing, democratic and social alliance that could emerge as a third political pole beyond the longstanding Fatah-Hamas polarization.

In a 38-minute tirade before the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump boasted about abducting foreign leaders, bombing boats in the Caribbean and launching an unjust war against Iran, while branding Cuba a “failed state.” He also singled out the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), the Democratic Socialists of America and “Antifa” as part of an alleged “coordinated subversive network” controlled by Cuba.

 

Poland's reactionary drift continues: Historic Soviet Red Army monument dismantled in Rzeszów

In a craven act of historical revisionism, Polish bourgeois authorities have dismantled the historic World War Two Red Army Monument (Monument of Gratitude to the Soviet Army) in the southeastern city of Rzeszów.

The so-called Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), acting as the ideological cleanup crew for the capitalist state, deployed heavy machinery and pneumatic drills to forcefully rip down the 6.6-ton bronze statue of a woman and child from its 8.5-meter obelisk. 

 

KKE expresses solidarity with the communists of Israel, condemns electoral ban

On September 23, Israel’s Central Elections Committee voted to disqualify all Arab electoral lists and several candidates from the upcoming parliamentary elections, including Ofer Cassif, a Jewish member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Israel (Maki) and a sitting member of the Knesset. 

 

The decision also affects the communist-led Hadash and its electoral allies. The disqualifications are not final, as they remain subject to judicial review by Israel’s Supreme Court.

The revolutionary legacy of Fidel Castro and the struggle to defend socialist Cuba against US imperialist aggression were at the centre of a major political discussion held during the 52nd KNE-Odigitis Festival, organized by the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) in Athens.

Israeli communists denounce attempts to ban Hadash and Arab parties from October elections

On September 23, the committee voted to disqualify the Joint List, comprising Hadash, Balad and Ta’al, from the October 27 Knesset elections.

In a statement issued ahead of the elections, the Central Committee of RKSM(b) condemned the ongoing war, which it characterized as imperialist, and its devastating consequences for the working people. 

 

Cuba rejects Trump's imperialist lies and threats: “We will not surrender our sovereignty”

Cuba has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump’s latest threats against the socialist island during his address to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, September 22. 

 

The Cuban delegation, led by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, walked out of the hall in protest against Trump’s hostile remarks and renewed threats of political and economic aggression.

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has condemned attempts to restore the political presence of the criminal neo-Nazi organization Golden Dawn through a new political formation linked to its convicted former leading member, Ilias Kasidiaris, who was recently released from prison.

On September 21, Kasidiaris announced his support for the "Alliance of Greeks", a party associated with former MPs of the far-right "Spartans" party. Shortly afterwards, independent MP Giorgos Manoussos declared in Parliament that he effectively represented the new formation, provoking an immediate reaction from KKE lawmakers.

Russia: Anti-war communists reject elections amid war and political repression
