This is Capitalism: UN says 50 million people stuck in ‘modern slavery’

Protest against child slavery in India.
The intensification of exploitation in monopoly capitalism continues to produce modern ways of slavery, which was particularly escalated during the two years of the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020-2022.

Fifty million people around the world are trapped in forced labor or forced marriage, the UN said Monday, warning that their ranks had swelled dramatically in recent years.

The study by the UN's agencies for labor and migration along with the Walk Free Foundation found that at the end of last year, 28 million people were in forced labor and 22 million living in a marriage they had been forced into. That means nearly one out of every 150 people in the world are caught up in modern forms of slavery, the report said. The Covid pandemic, which worsened conditions and swelled debt levels for many workers, has heightened the risk, the survey found.

Cuba Sí, Yankees No! Cuba denounces the U.S. provocation in the United Nations

Cuba's Permanent Representative at the U.N., Ambassador
Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo.
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cuba to the United Nations has issued a statement strongly denouncing the unprecedented provocation of the U.S. government in the United Nations. The statement, published in newspaper "Granma", reads:
Today, Tuesday 16 October, 2018, the United States of America has once again sullied the name of the United Nations.
The United States, in another action of contempt for human rights and this Organization, has preferred to create absurd lies about Cuba rather than recognize and promote a campaign to redress its multiple human rights violations, both in its territory and in the rest of the world.

Madam President:
Mister Secretary-General:
It is impossible to be here, speak from this rostrum on behalf of Cuba, and not recall historic moments of the General Assembly which are also part of our dearest memories: Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Raúl Castro and the "Chancellor of Dignity", Raúl Roa, just to mention the most significant, have brought here not only the voice of our people but also the voice of other Latin American and Caribbean, African, Asian, non-aligned peoples, with whom we have shared more than half a century of struggles for a fair international order, which is still far off being attained.

Cuba strongly condemns the imperialist attack against Syria (English / Español)

The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba expresses its strongest condemnation of the new attack by the United States and some of its allies against military and civilian facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic on the evening of this April 13th, under the pretext of the alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians by the Syrian Government.
This unilateral action, outside the United Nations Security Council, is a flagrant violation of the principles of International Law and the UN Charter and an outrage against a sovereign State, which exacerbates the conflict in that country and region.

Trump the Warmonger: U.S. imperialists escalate provocations against North Korea

In a move that escalates the dangerous situation in the Korean peninsula, U.S. President Donald Trump added fuel to the fire on Tuesday, cautioning North Korea that they “will be met with fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which the world has never seen before.”

The tensions between the US and North Korea were exacerbated by the adoption of a new round of sanctions by the UN Security Council last week. Apart from trading verbal punches, both parties are flexing military muscle as well. In response to two test-fires of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) by North Korea last month, the US and South Korea repeatedly fired surface-to-surface missiles into neutral waters close to North Korea.
