We salute the workers, youth, women and pensioners of Europe and the world. We honour the bloody uprising in Chicago and the heroic struggles of our class and draw inspiration from them for our struggle today.
The European Communist Action condemns the brutal repression and mass arrests of demonstrators, journalists, etc., including members and cadres of the Communist Party of Turkey, who oppose the unacceptable actions of the Turkish state in relation to arresting and removing from office the elected mayors in Istanbul, which means violation of right to vote and to be elected. These choices are in service to the political interests of the ruling AKP government and highlight its blatant disregard for any and all democratic processes.
"Today's topic, “Two years since the mass strikes in France, conclusions and prospects for the European workers' movement”, is a particularly important one for the French working class, not only because of the intensity of the struggle in 2023, but also because of its length, the mass movements of two years ago being the peak of a long-term battle.
The conference, organised two years after the major workers' mobilisations in France, which shook the country and the whole of Europe, aims to exchange the views and experiences of the CPs of ECA the on the workers' movement in Europe.
Working-class women live in a world of exploitation and inequality, expropriated labour, low wages and precarious and socially devalued work. They face, poverty, discrimination, harassment, problems in accessing healthcare, and are forced to confront the harsh consequences of repeated attacks on social security protections and the absence of free proper childcare facilities.

In the past few months, the European bourgeois media have been stirring up a debate, estimating that the electoral performance of nationalist and even fascist forces will skyrocket in the upcoming elections.
For the workers’ and communist parties, the 1st of May represents a day of struggle, in remembrance of those who came before us and in honor of those who will continue the struggle.
The working people, not only in the countries of Europe, but in the entire world, have in the past years stood face to face with the inhumanity and brutality of the capitalist system, which has put the entire burden of the increasing prices on the shoulders of the working people. By simultaneously keeping wages down, the situation for the workers and other exploited strata has worsened in every country.
