KKE: The EU-Mercosur Agreement serves monopolies, not farmers or food security

In a comment on the EU–Mercosur agreement, the Press Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) states the following:

“The approval of the ‘free trade’ agreement between the EU and the Mercosur countries by the New Democracy government constitutes yet another hostile act against small and struggling farmers, livestock breeders, beekeepers, and fishers—at a time when they are waging a heroic struggle at the roadblocks for their very survival.

During his recent visit to Sweden, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, gave an in-depth interview to Riktpunkt, the official newspaper of the Communist Party of Sweden (SKP).

The Farce Of the “Restoration of Democracy” in Venezuela

The absurdities used by the government to justify US imperialist intervention in Venezuela are endless. Government officials, without even blushing, claim that “anyone who disagrees with US actions is siding with the dictator Maduro”. 

 

Walking the same path as the representatives of the right-wing ruling party, New Democracy (ND), are figures from other bourgeois, social-democratic forces as well. For example, the former prime minister and former leader of the “left-wing” SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, in his statement on Venezuela, did not hesitate to adopt one of the pretexts of US intervention, that of “democracy”, remarking that it “is also being tested in Venezuela”.

Greek communists mobilize against the US imperialist attack on Venezuela - KKE intervention in the European Parliament

Thousands of demonstrators flooded the streets of Athens on Saturday afternoon, in an immediate and militant response to the new imperialist crime carried out by the United States against Venezuela. 

 

Within hours of the military intervention, a mass march organized by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing, KNE, converged outside the U.S. Embassy, sending a clear message of internationalist solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

In Greece, the Ministry of National Defense have escalated their attempts to limit political expression within the Armed Forces. Soldier Manos Papageorgiou, serving at the 4th Recruit Training Centre on Samos, has been sentenced to 25 days’ imprisonment and removed from the Special Forces — not for misconduct, but for openly declaring solidarity with working people and farmers resisting economic hardship and militarisation.

KKE strongly condemns the persecution of Marxist study group members in Russia

The International Relations Section of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has condemned the decision of the Russian authorities to sentence members of a Marxist study group to prison terms ranging from 16 to 22 years, warning against the criminalization of communist ideology and political struggle.

KKE-KNE protest at Polish Embassy in Athens against renewed persecution of the Communist Party of Poland

A delegation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), led by KKE MP Afroditi Ktena, carried out a militant protest today at the Embassy of Poland in Athens, condemning the continuation of the unacceptable anti-communist persecutions against the Communist Party of Poland. The attacks escalate once again on December 3 at the Constitutional Court, following a petition submitted by Poland’s President K. KKE events ahead of the 22nd Congress in the USA, Canada and Australia

In the framework of the preparation for the 22nd Congress of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), a series of events is taking place among the Greek diaspora. In North America, the Party organisations in Montreal and Toronto already held their meetings on 28 and 29 November.

The era of capitalism's overthrow began with October 1917: Major internationalist event organized by the KKE

A major internationalist event was held at the headquarters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in Athens to commemorate the 108th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. 

The gathering was organized under the central theme: “Relevant messages of the October Revolution in our contemporary struggle for socialism and in conditions of imperialist war,” bringing together a large audience and representatives of 25 communist and workers’ parties from across the world.

KKE - SKP: Communists of Greece and Sweden coordinate struggle as capitalist offensive escalates

In a warm and deeply comradely atmosphere, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, held a meeting on Friday afternoon with a delegation of the Communist Party of Sweden (SKP) at the party’s offices in Skarpnäck, Stockholm. The Swedish delegation was headed by the leader of SKP, Andreas Sörensen.
