In a statement issued ahead of the elections, the Central Committee of RKSM(b) condemned the ongoing war, which it characterized as imperialist, and its devastating consequences for the working people.
It pointed to mounting economic difficulties, deteriorating living standards, military casualties and growing repression, accusing the Russian bourgeoisie of exploiting the war to intensify nationalism, suppress dissent and strengthen its grip on political power.
The organization argued that the electoral system offers no genuine opportunity for the working class to influence the country’s political direction. It criticized state-controlled electronic voting, the exclusion of opposition candidates and the growing restrictions on communist activity, stressing that the real balance of political power is determined by class struggle rather than parliamentary elections.
RKSM(b) also rejected the idea that voting for the CPRF or casting a protest ballot could challenge the existing order. According to the organization, such tactics foster illusions about the possibility of changing the policies of the Russian ruling class through an electoral process it considers fundamentally controlled by the bourgeoisie.
At the same time, RKSM(b) distinguished its position from calls for an active electoral boycott, arguing that such a tactic requires a revolutionary upsurge and a level of working-class organization that do not currently exist in Russia.
Instead, the organization called on communists, workers and students to intensify political education, strengthen independent trade unions and build fighting organizations in workplaces and educational institutions.
For RKSM(b), the central task is not to seek an alternative within Russia’s existing parliamentary system, but to develop an independent, class-conscious workers’ movement capable of challenging capitalist power.
