Communist Party of the Workers of Spain: We reject any Spanish participation in imperialist mission in the Red Sea

In a statement, the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) rejects any participation of Spanish Armed Forces in military missions abroad:

As a result of the latest war unleashed by Israel against the Palestinian people, supported by various imperialist powers, the Houthi guerrillas of Yemen are militarily threatening the merchant ships of the main shipping monopolies that circulate between Asia and Europe, as a measure of pressure for Israel to put an end to the genocide it is carrying out against the Palestinian people.

PCTE: On the formation of the new social democratic coalition government under Pedro Sánchez

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) makes the following considerations on the recent investiture of Pedro Sanchez and the formation of a new social democratic coalition government in our country:

The investiture initiates the third consecutive government led by the Spanish Socialist Workers Party, a government that is born in the middle of a context of internal and external tension, and before the horizon of an unstable legislature and of great relevance for the future of Spanish capitalism and its concretion in the power bloc.

Spanish Elections 2023: PCTE communists emerge strengthened under negative political conditions

The results of July 23rd elections in Spain did not pronounce a clear victory for the ruling social democratic PSOE or the opposition right parties, with no side gaining the parliamentary majority needed to form a government. The turnout in the elections to determine the 350-seat parliament was 70%, with 37.5 registered million voters.

The right-wing People's Party (PP) won the elections with 136 seats, increasing the number by 47 compared to December 2019 elections. The social democratic Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), headed by PM Pedro Sanchez, won 122 seats.

Crimes of Francoism, a history of bloody impunity

By Álvaro Luque.

We have all heard stories of Francoism that continue to shrink our hearts. You left the house, they arrested you and little by little, humiliation by humiliation, they stripped you of all human dignity where you became a simple punching bag. You became a rag doll where the Brigada Político-Social in the 70s, and the Civil Guard and the Army in the post-war period, were practicing all kinds of humiliations and tortures to extract any confession.

Spain: PCTE communists ready to fight another battle after positive results in local elections

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called for early general elections on July 23 after his social democratic party, PSOE, and its major ally, Unidas Podemos, suffered heavy losses across the country in regional and municipal elections.

On the other hand, the conservative opposition (Partido Popular) and the far-right (Vox party) posted powerful gains in polls. In total, Partido Popular gained more than 7 million votes (31.53%), which is almost 2 million more voters in relation to 2019 elections, while PSOE social democrats received 6.3 million votes (28.1%). A disturbing feature is the rise of the far-right Vox, which received 1.6 million votes, related to 812 thousand in 2019.

Last Friday, 45 immigrants deceased and several more people were injured while trying to enter Melilla. The PCTE makes the Government of social democratic coalition responsible for this serious incident.

This has been the first attempt of mass entry in Melilla since the Spanish Government has changed its policy on Western Sahara in March, thus giving in to blackmail by Morocco.

Spain's Trans Law and the political opportunism of PSOE-UP government

Spain's Minister of Equality Irene Montero (right)
The social democratic Spanish government, consisting of PSOE and Unidad Podemos (UP), has passed a draft law, known as "Trans Law", that will allow citizens aged over 14 to change their gender without evidence.

Under the proposals, citizens will be able to change their name and gender without the need for proof or witnesses. The administrative procedure will also do away with health reports and the need for medical and legal guardianship.

Communist Party of the Workers of Spain: No trust in the Government of social democracy!

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE), after holding its 9th Plenary Session, issues the following statement:
The slowdown of the capitalist growth cycle which followed the last crisis is an unquestionable reality. In spite of the efforts made by the spokespeople of capitalist bodies and governments to state that the current situation of “deceleration” does not take a chance to become a crisis, the macroeconomic data known thus far increasingly express with more clearness that the capitalist growth is deeply weak and there are lots of factors that could accelerate the outbreak of a new crisis in the next years.

Spain General Elections: Statement by the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) / Comunicado de Prensa del PCPE

PRESS STATEMENT OF THE PCPE ON THE CALL OF GENERAL ELECTIONS

The Prime Minister has just announced in a public appearance the call of General Elections for next April 28. For the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain, this call represents a new failure of social-democracy, which has evidenced once again the impossibility to manage capitalism for the benefit of workers and the people after the motion of no confidence approved on June 1, 2018.

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) issued a Resolution on July 25th titled ‘No Trust in Social-democracy! For One Country for the Working Class!’.
Almost two months after the motion of no confidence which made Pedro Sánchez the Prime Minister, the resolution addressing the working class and the working people of Spain pointed out the mistake to place any hope in the new socialdemocrat government of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) and the need to struggle against its policies.

Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE): "Trump demands, Sánchez obeys"

Trump demands, Sánchez obeys, the peoples pay.

Yesterday in NATO's summit Pedro Sánchez committed to what two days ago he completely refused: to increase Spain's military spend up to 2% of the budget. Once again the words of PSOE about NATO are in question, as they prove that the working class cannot place any trust in one social-democracy that has proved so many times to be one enemy for the people.

PCPE: Don't be fooled by PSOE government's "good will" gestures on refugees

The Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) salutes the offer made by the Government to accept in the port of Valencia the ship “Aquarius”, which has more than 600 people on board, among them more than one hundred children and pregnant women as well, and has evidenced once again the reactionary nature of the European Union, unable to give a humanitarian response to the denial of the governments of Italy and Malta to allow the arrival of such ship to their coasts.

Interview with Ástor García, Gen. Secretary of the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE)

Special interview with Ástor García, General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE)

IDC: According to your party's statement the dispute in the Parliament, between the People's Party (PP) and PSOE, consists the result of a competition between differents parts of the capital. Do you think that the big capital wants new anti-worker, anti-people reforms that a PSOE government under P. Sanchez premiership could implement easier than the previous government? If yes, could you briefly tell us what kind of reforms the new government is planning to implement?

Spain: "No trust" to Sánchez government, intensification of the people's struggle says the PCPE

"Not a minute of respite" towards the new government of Pedro Sánchez says the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) in a statement regarding the political developments in the country.

"The approval of the motion of censure to the Government of Mariano Rajoy opens a new political cycle. The new government will try to take definitive steps to reform the political system, following a parliamentary debate in which it has been found that it is the very nature of capitalism that generates political corruption" writes the PCPE statement and underlines: "The dispute between the parliamentary forces represents the interests of different sectors of the bourgeoisie, which has seen its class economic interests guaranteed with the commitment of Pedro Sánchez to govern with the budgets designed by the Popular Party."
