Polish state fails to outlaw Communist Party, faces international condemnation

The anti-communist campaign waged by the Polish state against the Communist Party of Poland (KPP) has suffered a significant setback following the party's return to the official register of political parties.

The development comes after months of attempts by the Polish authorities to eliminate the KPP from legal political life. Last December, the Constitutional Tribunal ruled that the party's activities were allegedly incompatible with the country's constitution, providing the legal pretext for its removal from the register.

Portuguese Communist Party hails nationwide strike against the government’s proposed Labour Package

Statement by Paulo Raimundo, General Secretary of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) concerning the General Strike against the government's "Labour Package" held across Portugal on Wednesday 3 May.

"Today’s (3 May) General Strike is a powerful action to defeat the Labour Package [of labour laws] which was presented by the PSD/CDS Government and supported by Chega, IL [parties] and the bosses’ confederations. It is a clear rejection of social regression and of the heightened exploitation that they wish to impose upon the workers.

Bourgeois politicians, media commentators and professional anti-communists have spent years assuring us that Marxism-Leninism belongs to the past, that socialism was decisively defeated, and that history has already delivered its final verdict. Yet a simple question remains unanswered: 

If communism is truly dead, as they claim, why do so many governments continue to fight it so fiercely?

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) calls for mass rally in Ankara ahead of NATO Summit in July

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has called for a major anti-NATO rally in Ankara ahead of the NATO summit scheduled to take place in the Turkish capital in July.

According to TKP’s announcement, the rally will be held on 5 July under the slogan: “NATO means death and dishonor; long live peace, independence and socialism!” The party called on the people to gather before the summit and deliver a strong warning to the imperialists.

Yolanda and Fermín Rodríguez Díaz were 11 and 13 years old, respectively, when they were murdered on January 24, 1963, at the La Candelaria farm in Bolondrón by the gang of Juan José Catalá Coste, which operated in the southern part of Matanzas. 
 
Similarly, on March 13, 1962, in San Nicolás de Bari, then in Havana, the young Andrés Rojas Acosta was hanged with the same rope he was using to tie up his pig, a crime committed by the gang of the mercenary Waldemar Hernández.
