The decay of social democracy in Venezuela

In light of the complete surrender of Venezuela’s natural resources to the USA through the agreement signed by the social democratic government of Interim President Delcy Rodríguez —who served as vice president under Nicolás Maduro, who is being held in the US following his abduction during the unacceptable imperialist military intervention by the US on 3 January — a bitter rift has emerged among officials of the Venezuelan Social Democratic Party.

The latest oil agreement between Washington and the government of Delcy Rodríguez is one such moment. After years of “Bolivarian,” “anti-imperialist” and even “socialist” rhetoric, Venezuela’s social-democratic leadership is presiding over a further opening of the country’s strategic energy wealth to U.S. monopoly interests.

Communist Party of Venezuela denounces Rodríguez government’s submission to U.S. Imperialism

Statement by the Communist Party of Venezuela on U.S. Air Military Maneuvers over Caracas and the Deepening of Imperialist Tutelage:

"The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), elected at its 16th National Congress (November 2022), categorically rejects the U.S. military air maneuvers scheduled to take place over Caracas on Saturday, May 23.

These military operations represent a dangerous escalation of imperialist interference in Venezuela and a direct affront to national sovereignty.

Communist Party of Venezuela: Delcy Rodríguez’s administration bows to foreign tutelage

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), Oscar Figuera, rejected on Monday what he described as a policy of “tutelage” and “external imposition” on Venezuela, while denouncing the government led by Delcy Rodríguez as an administration “subjugated to transnational capital.”

During a press conference, Figuera stated that the current global landscape is marked by stark contrasts between countries resisting the pressures of big capital and those governments that, he said, “submit without resistance.”

PCV demands answers from the government over the presence of the CIA chief in Venezuela

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) demanded that the government leadership provide clear and transparent explanations regarding the presence in the country of the Director of the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Ratcliffe, whom it described as “a nefarious figure for the peoples of the world,” and whose visit — the Party denounced — has not been officially communicated to the Venezuelan people.
