The historical development of capitalism in its imperialist phase continuously confirms Lenin’s thesis that, as the domination of monopolies deepens and the contradictions of the capitalist system intensify, the bourgeoisie progressively abandons its own “democratic” forms of rule and turns toward increasingly reactionary, authoritarian, and violent methods. This process corresponds to the objective necessity of maintaining class power in a context of crisis, inter-imperialist competition, and the potential rise of working-class struggle.

In a statement undersigned by General Secretary James Corcoran, the Communist Party of Ireland stresses out the following:

"The recent knife attack in Belfast has shocked communities across Ireland. Our thoughts are with the victim and their family, and those responsible must face the full consequences of the law. However, what followed has been deeply disturbing. 

Organised loyalist elements and far-right agitators have sought to exploit this incident to spread fear and division. Homes have been attacked, businesses targeted, vehicles burned, and migrant families subjected to intimidation and violence.

Communist Party of Britain: Working-class unity is the answer to the far-right surge

The “Unite the Kingdom” march in London on September 13 exposed the scale of the danger facing Britain. Over 100,000 were mobilised under the banner of Tommy Robinson — a convicted criminal and fascist demagogue — waving the Union Jack as cover for racism, division and hate. This was not a harmless “protest,” but the largest fascist mobilisation in Britain in a generation.

The Communist Party of Britain (CPB) has warned for years that such a moment was coming. In a series of statements and Morning Star editorials, the CPB described the event as the largest fascist mobilisation in a generation, claiming it reflects the way economic despair is being channelled into racist and nationalist sentiment.

New Communist Party of Yugoslavia blasts glorification of fascism at Zagreb music event

In a statement about a highly controversial concert given by far-right Croatian singer Marko Perković (Thompson) on 5 July in Zagreb, the Central Committee of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia stresses out:

"The New Communist Party of Yugoslavia expresses its deep concern and outrage over the recent concert held by the singer Thompson in Zagreb. Although formally announced as a musical event, the concert was in fact organized and staged as a political rally, with the full support and participation of the Croatian Catholic Church.

In April 2024, another political scandal broke in our country. Students at the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) have publicly opposed the ‘educational and research centre’ named after the philosopher Ivan Ilyin, which had opened at the university. 

This is the same man who lived for a long time in Hitler’s Germany, supported fascism and applauded the Nazi attack on our Motherland. 

Britain's communists strongly condemn the racist and Islamophobic attacks by far right thugs

The Communist Party of Britain (CPB) unequivocally condemns the racist and Islamophobic attacks by far right thugs on communities, immigrants and refugees across Britain over the last week.

It is clear that these actions were planned by a range of far-right figureheads, commentators and organisations, amounting to a far right offensive. 

 

Koutsoumbas on French Elections: "The regroupment of the movement in France, Greece and across Europe is the only way that can generate hope to the people"

In a statement (here in Greek) concerning the result of the French legislative elections and the electoral victory of the "New Popular Front" (Nouveau Front Populaire), the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, stresses out:

"(What we are witnessing is) a repetition of the same project, with the protagonists of the anti-popular governments of recent years who have been condemned in the consciousness of the French people, with the only thing being certain is that again - in the name of "democracy" and of the "lesser evil" - will fuel a new vicious cycle of frustrations and conservatism.

KKE on French elections: Only the workers-popular movement can stop the rise of the far-right

Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) party led the first round of France’s parliamentary elections on Sunday, taking it closer to the gates of power than ever before.

After an unusually high turnout, the RN bloc clinched 33.15% of the vote, while the left-wing New Popular Front (NFP) coalition came second with 27.99% and President Emmanuel Macron’s Ensemble alliance slumped to a dismal third with 20.76%, according to final results published by the Interior Ministry on Monday.

On 19^th June in an interview with the radio station “Real FM”, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the KKE, referred to the results of the recent European elections held in Greece and the rest of the EU. 

Specifically for Greece, he noted that “there has been another significant electoral rise of the KKE, starting from the 2019 European elections (5.35%), the 2023 parliamentary elections of May (7.2%) and June (7.7%), and now the European elections (9.25%). This confirms that positive processes are taking place in society,in the struggles and the elections of the mass movement. I would say that a current disputing the dominant policy, i.e. that of the Commission, the EU and the New Democracy government, is being stabilized and strengthened; and, of course, this current is mainly expressed by the increase in the prestige of the KKE and in the rallying of broader forces around it.”

Portugal Elections 2024: Poor performance for the Communist Party, while the far-right rises

Bad news come from Portugal, following March 10 parliamentary elections. The Unitary Democratic Coalition, comprised of the Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) and the Greens, received 3,30% (approximately 203,000 votes), which marks a regression in relation to the 2022 results (4,39% and 236,600 votes).

Unfortunately, it seems that, among others, the Portuguese Communist Party pays the price for its political support – also known as Geringonça - towards the social democratic governments of Antonio Costa in 2015-2019 which cultivated empty promises to the working class but ultimately led to disappointment.

In a statement concerning the Dutch General Elections held on 22 November 2023, the Central Committee of the New Communist Party of the Netherlands (NCPN) stresses out the following:

"The results of the Lower House elections show, on the one hand, the justified discontent and anger among large sections of the working class about the antipopular policies pursued by successive cabinets in recent years. But on the other hand, the results show that there are still many illusions about parties that present themselves in various ways as an ‘alternative’ while essentially serving the same politics. 

Dublin: A criminal hate fest orchestrated by rightist and fascist forces — Workers Party of Ireland

Referring to the violent incidents that took place in Dublin on November 23, the website of the Workers Party of Ireland points out:

"Yesterday’s appalling events in Dublin can scarcely come as a surprise. 

People were, of course, shocked at the horrific knife attack on innocent school children and their teachers , but this was not the reason for the orgy of reactionary violence in which workers were attacked, shops looted and public services and their workers, including first responders, targeted and abused.

Cyprus: AKEL strongly condemns racist attacks against immigrants in Limassol

AKEL, the Progressive Party of Working People, strongly condemned Friday's racial violence against immigrants and refugees in Limassol, Cyprus.

On the night of Friday 1 September, far-right groups turned the city center into chaos, by smashing shops, throwing Molotov cocktail and chasing migrants.

Finland's far-right governing coalition to criminalize communist symbols?

Finland's ultra-conservative government has decided to implement a policy that would “combat racism”, following multiple racism and neo-Nazi scandals that have rocked the administration in its early months.

The governing coalition’s parties agreed on the content of a statement submitted to Finnish parliament that calls for “non-discrimination in Finnish society,” according to a press release, and for new legislation to work toward that goal.

KKE: Statement on the murder of 29-year-old man by Croatian fascist hooligans in Athens

A 29-year-old Greek man died yesterday after being stabbed during violent incidents caused by far-right Dinamo Zagreb fans outside AEK FC stadium in Nea Filadelfia, Athens. 

 

At least 10 persons were wounded, one of them being in serious condition. The events took place a day before the Champions League qualifier game between AEK Athens and Dinamo Zagreb, which has now been postponed.

Far-right groups related to ex-President Jair Bolsonaro have unleashed a slanderous attack against Brazilian communist, cadre of the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB), Sofia Manzano, claiming that she participated undercover in January 8 violent riots in order to criminalize Bolsonaro supporters and that she is an advisor to the current social democrat President Lula da Silva.

Cyprus: Far-right military leader Georgios Grivas to be honored with a museum

"Not a single euro for Grivas Museum", reads AKEL banner.

General Georgios Grivas (1897-1974), the notorious ultra-nationalist, fiercely anti-communist military leader whose name became synonymous with terrorism and treason, will be once again honored by the Cypriot government. Recently, with the votes of the governmental centre-right Democratic Rally (DISY), the Democratic Party DIKO and the social democratic EDEK, the Parliamentary Finance Committee agreed to release the fund for the so-called “Grivas Museum”.
