IMCWP Working Group: Statements against US-Israeli imperialist aggression and in solidarity with Cuba

The meeting of the Working Group (WG) of the International Meetings of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP), which was successfully held on 19 April in Istanbul, issued statements for the US-Israeli imperialist war in Iran and Lebanon as well as in solidarity with Cuba.

Communist Party of Israel and Hadash condemn the desecration of Jesus statue by IDF soldier in Lebanon

A viral photograph showing an occupation Israeli soldier hitting a statue of Jesus Christ in southern Lebanon with a sledgehammer has sparked outrage. In a statement on Monday, April 19, the Israeli military confirmed the authenticity of the image that was widely shared online, garnering more than 5 million views on X. Commenting on social media, Hadash-Ta’al chair MK Ayman Odeh wrote pointedly: “We’ll wait to hear the police spokesperson claim that ‘the soldier felt threatened by Jesus’.” 

 

KKE: U.S and Israel exploit fragile ceasefire as deadly strikes hit Lebanon

The Press Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement regarding Israel’s deadly attacks on Lebanon and the statements made by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis:

“Israel’s deadly attacks on Lebanon—among the most lethal in recent weeks—demonstrate that the United States and Israel are exploiting the fragile ceasefire, which also included Lebanon, in order to recalibrate their attack tactics, at a time when none of the originally declared objectives of their imperialist intervention in Iran have been achieved.

About fifteen hours after the US-Iran cease-fire was announced, the far-right Israeli government has still not issued a statement in Hebrew on the deal or addressed Israeli citizens on the matter. In its first official response in English to the cease-fire agreement, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement early Wednesday, April 8, that Israel supports the move but insisted that the deal “does not include Lebanon.”

European Communist Action meeting in Istanbul: Statement on the developments in the Middle East

The European Communist Action convened in Istanbul on January 19, 2025, hosted by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP).

The parties participating in the meeting organized under the title “Developments in the Middle East We strengthen our solidarity with the peoples of Palestine, Lebanon and Syria” exchanged ideas on the developments in the Middle East.

Greek dockworkers blocked the loading of a container full of bullets bound for Israel

On Thursday 17 October, COSCO dockers at the Port of Piraeus detected a container full of bullets that had entered the country via North Macedonia and was bound for Haifa, Israel, to be used in the massacre of the Palestinian and Lebanese people. 

The COSCO dockers, led by their trade union, the Container Handling Workers’ Union at the Piers of Piraeus (ENEDEP), took decisive action to prevent the container from being loaded onto the ship and demonstrated on the spot, calling on the people of the region to join the demonstration.

Greek soldiers lead the way in demonstration against the imperialist war in the Middle East

With large anti-war demonstrations organized by the Communist Party (KKE) in Athens, Piraeus and various districts throughout Attica, Greece on Saturday 5/10, thousands of protesters raised their voice against the imperialist carnage in the Middle East, demanding an immediate end of Greece's participation in the warmongering plans of Israel, US and NATO in the region. 

The demonstrators demanded the immediate return of the Greek frigate "Spetsai" from the Red Sea, the termination of Greece's multifaceted political and military alliance with the State of Israel and expressed their solidarity with the people of Palestine and Lebanon who are being slaughtered by the Netanyahu government and its allies. 

Meeting of Communist Parties scheduled to be held in Beirut has been postponed until further notice

The 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP), that was scheduled to take place in Beirut on 24-27 October 2024, has been postponed until further notice due to the ongoing war in the Middle East. 

The theme of this year's 24th IMCWP is: "To strengthen the international struggle against capitalism, imperialist aggression  and its offspring fascism, in support of the Palestinian people and its resistance. For national and social liberation, for progress and socialism."

KKE says: "No involvement of Greece in the wars — Solidarity with the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon"

On 30 September, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement on the escalation of Israeli aggression, which reads as follows:

The terrorist state of Israel, with the blessing and the support of the USA, NATO and the EU, is proceeding to a generalized war against the peoples of the Middle East, with unpredictable consequences for the wider region and internationally.

 

European Communist Action: Statement in solidarity with the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon

The European Communist Action (ECA) Parties participating in the Teleconference "On the Work of the ECA Parties Within the Youth" held on September 28th condemn the criminal attacks carried out by the murderous State of Israel in Palestine and Lebanon.

The ECA Parties demand the immediate end of every Israeli aggression and express their full solidarity with the peoples of Palestine and Lebanon, their resistance and the Communist Parties in the region.

 

KKE calls for mass condemnation of the Israeli state's crimes in Lebanon

In a statement, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the recent murderous military attack of the Israeli state in southern Lebanon and calls for a mass popular condemnation of these crimes. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads:

"The KKE calls for mass popular condemnation of the new crimes committed by the terrorist state of Israel in Lebanon, which have so far resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. The attacks in Lebanon, combined with the ongoing operations in Gaza and the West Bank of Palestine, constitute an escalation of the war in the Middle East with unpredictable dimensions in which the peoples will be the victims.

Communist Party of Israel - Hadash: “It is still possible to prevent an all-out war in Lebanon — Ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza"

Nearly 500 people were killed across southern Lebanon after Israel launched its biggest aerial offensive against Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah since October 7.

 

“It is still possible to prevent an all-out war in Lebanon. A war that would bring destruction to the cities of both countries and would achieve nothing. The Israeli horror government needs to stop the cycle of escalation. Only a ceasefire and hostage deal in Gaza can bring quiet,” said Monday afternoon a Hadash (Democratic Front for Peace and Equality – Communist Party of Israel) spokesperson in Tel-Aviv. 

 

KKE condemns Israel's deadly hybrid attack in Lebanon and Syria

In a statement, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns the recent deadly hybrid attack of Israel in Lebanon and Syria. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads:

The KKE condemns the long-planned terrorist attack of the state of Israel in Lebanon and Syria in an unprecedented murderous way, blowing up the pagers, mobiles and walkie talkies held by thousands of people, thus resulting in at least 12 deaths and thousands injured, including children.

In a comment (Hebrew) concerning the new Israeli attack in Beirut, as well as the assassination of Hamas' political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the Communist Party of Israel (Maki) and Hadash (Democratic Front for Peace and Equality) point out:

"The Israeli government insists on igniting a regional war whose price will be paid by all the peoples of the region, including the citizens of Israel itself! The settler government in Israel is knowingly leading the region to ignite an extensive regional war that will wreak havoc on all the peoples of the region, including the citizens of the State of Israel itself.

KKE denounces Israeli attack in Beirut and Haniyeh's assassination

In a statement (here in Greek) concerning the recent Israeli attack in Beirut and the assassination of Hamas' leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) warns about an unpredictable escalation of war in the Middle East. 

 

The statement reads:

"The KKE denounces the new murderous attack by Israel on Beirut which, combined with the assassination of the leader of Hamas in Tehran, leads to unpredictable escalation of the war and a general conflagration in the Middle East.
