The Erdoğan government is attempting to silence anti-imperialist opposition ahead of the upcoming NATO summit by imposing sweeping restrictions on public gatherings in the Turkish capital, prompting a determined response from the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), which has vowed to press ahead with its anti-NATO mobilization.
The Ankara Governor's Office has announced a blanket ban on meetings, demonstrations, marches, rallies, sit-ins, press statements and similar public events from June 28 to July 10, citing security concerns related to the NATO summit scheduled for July 7–8.
