We, Communist and Workers Party of the world, decisively denounce the imperialist plans, the undermining tactics and the menaces unleashed by the USA, the EU and their allied governments in Latin America, aiming at overthrowing the legally elected President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro; at subjugating the people of the country into their imperialist interests; and at looting the country’s wealth-producing resources.

Italy: Communists paid tribute to the 100th anniversary of Communist International

An event in honor of the 100^th anniversary since the founding of the Communist International was held in Rome, on Saturday 2^nd of March, by the Communist Party, Italy (Partito Comunista). Numerous members and friends of the Party and its youth wing- the Front of Communist Youth (FGC) – attended the event. 

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) was represented by Kostas Papadakis, MEP and member of the CC, who delivered a greeting speech.

“We must not allow the Thessaloniki port to become another base of death by the US-NATO imperialists” is the major slogan of a statement issued by the Central Macedonia Party Organisation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), on the occasion of the recent visit of the US ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt in the city. 

The US diplomat had visited the port (Greece's second largest) in order to inspect the departure of the 4^th US Airborne Brigade.

162 years after the first uprising of women textile workers in 1857 in New York, claiming the increase of their miserable salaries, the reduction of working hours, equality in payment and social rights, the situation for the working, unemployed and young women, is extremely harsh: unemployment, flexible work, lack of free and high quality health services and healthcare for them and for their children, psychological pressure and violence mainly inside but also outside the workplaces.

Communist Party of Pakistan denounces the frenzy of jingoism between India and Pakistan

The current escalated frenzy of jingoism between India and Pakistan, has created a nonsensical combatant environment in the whole region, followed by heavy cross border shelling and air bombardment which is a total wastage of the national capital in the air. 

No doubt this tension is in the best interest of the religious fanatics and the military establishment, but it has nothing to do with the peoples well-being of both the countries.

Tsipras' deal with shipowners: Another mockery against the Greek people

Greece's shipowners consist a global power. They have one of the largest merchant navies globally and, due to very low labour-cost, they “build” and repair their ships in the shipyards of Asia and Northern Europe. Also, they enjoy numerous privileges by the law in Greece, including dozens cases of tax exemptions. 

At the same time, the Greek governments - both the current one of SYRIZA as well as the previous ones under New Democracy and PASOK- have imposed a situation of tax-robbery against the working class and the popular strata. The working men and women, the pensioners, are called to pay enormous amounts of taxation, despite the huge cuts in salaries and pensions. 

Italy's communist youth FGC leads students' mobilizations against cuts in education

While the coalition government of the “Five Star Movement” and the far-right “Lega Nord” intensifies the anti-people policies, reducing social spending in education (4 billion euros) and allocating 200 million euros to install security cameras (!) in schools, the Italian youth has no other option but to resist and organize its struggle. 

Last week, more than 100,000 students took to the streets in more than 50 cities across Italy, in order to demonstrate against the governmental policy on Education.

Greece: Armed bodyguards and terrorism deployed by employers at workers' congress

On Saturday, February 23, was to take place the Congress of the National Federation of Private Employees of Greece (OIYE) in Athens.

A Congress about which there were hundreds of official complaints and unions’ denunciations about election fraud, intimidations and direct intervention of employers, especially by the big Super Market owners, so as them to control the Federation. In addition the President of the Federation, Mr. Karageorgopoulos, is himself an employer, President and CEO of the limited company “PEGASUS FORTUNA GAMING S.A”.

Bernie Sanders: Just another "stooge" of US imperialism against Venezuela

The self-described as "democratic socialist", the "good friend" of the late warmonger John McCain and praiser of criminals like George H.W. Bush, Senator Bernie Sanders has already aligned himself with the reactionary, imperialist plans of the Trump administration and the right-wing Venezuelan opposition.

Koutsoumbas: The KKE's strengthening in all electoral and daily struggles is needed

A call to join the electoral and daily struggles of the KKE was delivered by the Communist Party of Greece's General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas during his speech at a political event held in Ioannina. 

The General Secretary pointed out that the major aim of the Party in the upcoming electoral battles (local elections, EU Parliament's elections and General Elections) is to deliver a united response to the attack unleashed by the EU, the capital, the governments and their parties, underlining that this can be achieved through the strengthening of the KKE everywhere, in every municipality, region and nationwide. 

Mexico's Communist Party denounces US-EU aggression in Venezuela, calls for solidarity

In a latest statement, the Communist Party of Mexico (PCM) condemns the measures adopted by the Trump administration and the European Union against the people and the sovereignty of Venezuela. 

The PCM states that "the role of Guaidó reminds collaborationist governments, puppets of fascism" and pays attention to the provocation scheduled by the US and Guaidó for February 23rd, when in the name of "humanitarian aid" the imperialist centers of the US and the EU intend to instroduce "destruction and death" against the people of Venezuela and the country's sovereign rights.

European Parliament: "Left" and Right-wing apologists of police violence and repression

London: Fascist vandals attacked the grave memorial of Karl Marx for second time

The grave of Karl Marx in Highgate cemetery in London has been vandalised for the second time in the space of a month. 

The first time was earlier this month when unknown fascist cowards attacked the memorial of Marx causing extending damages in a marble plaque. 

This time, the anticommunist cowards used red paint to write the words “doctrine of hate” and “architect of genocide” across the Grade I-listed monument. 

After the hammer attack earlier this month, the Friends of Highgate Cemetery Trust branded it a “deliberate and sustained attack”.

With the participation of 30 delegations from communist youth and anti-imperialist organizations around the world, the 12th Congress of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) kicked off on Friday afternoon in Athens. 

In the fully-packed congress hall of the KKE headquarters, hundreds of people of every age, mostly young ones, had the opportunity to watch an introductory video refering to the harsh reality of exploitation in capitalist society. "The days we are waiting for shall come. Today's generation will live new eras of rise in the workers and communist movement, new socialist revolutions! The generation of the overthrow is coming" was the message in the end.

Sudan: Communist Party's cadres Fathi Alfadl and Ali Sa’id are in danger (Urgent)

The lives of Comrades Fathi Alfadl and Ali Sa’id, members of the Political Bureau of the Sudanese Communist Party, who were detained by the security forces of the dictatorial regime, are in real danger because of mistreatment and lack of medical attention. This has been confirmed by a journalist, Adel Klour, who was released three days ago after being detained with the two comrades and other political activists in the same cell for more than four weeks.  

Four years of SYRIZA government: A really valuable lesson for Greece's working class

The 25^th of January marked the completion of four years since the electoral victory of SYRIZA (Coalition of the Radical Left) back in 2015. Today, four years later, we can draw valuable conclusions regarding the actual role of SYRIZA in Greece's political developments. Most importantly, the Greek working class can draw conclusions which can be proved helpful in the upcoming battles of class struggle.

KKE MEP: "EU and NATO ignited nationalism in the Balkans, destroyed Yugoslavia"

"Who ignited nationalisms, about which you supposedly worry about today in Bosnia and elsewhere, in order to dissolve Yugoslavia with bombardments? NATO and the European Union" said Sotiris Zarianopoulos, MEP of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) during a discussion at the EU Parliament's plenary regarding Bosnia. 

The Communist MEP intervened in the discussion and attacked the imperialist policy of the EU. He said: "Bosnia is one of the latest abeyances in the mission of Western Balkans' euroatlantic integration in the midst of sharp, dangerous competitions between US, NATO, EU with Russia and China".

Greece: Successful event in solidarity with Venezuelan people, against imperialism

A successful event in solidarity with the people of Venezuela and against the US-EU imperialist interference was co-organized on Sunday afternoon by the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE), the Greek Committee for International Democratic Solidarity (EEDDA) and the Federation of Greek Women (OGE) in Athens.

Communist Youth of Greece's 12th Congress to kick off in Athens on February 15th

Everything is ready for the beginning of the works of the 12th Congress of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), the youth wing of the Communist Party (KKE), which will take place between 15 and 17 of February in Athens. 

The Congress is scheduled to kick off on Friday, 15th of February, at 5 pm at the congress hall of the KKE headquarters in Perissos. An introductory speech will be delivered by Secretary of the Central Council of KNE Nikos Abatielos. 

"North Macedonia" accession to NATO is a crime against the country's own people

"The signature of all of you has no ink but blood, which is going to chase you and you will pay dearly in your whole political life" said Thanasis Pafilis, the Communist Party of Greece's parliamentary representative during the discussion in the Greek Parliament's Committee of Foreign Affairs and Defense, regarding the protocol of FYROM's (now renamed as "North Macedonia") accession to NATO. 

Pafilis stressed that the protocol consists the essence of the Tsipras-Zaev Agreement which, as he pointed out, took place in order to accelerate the neighboring country's accesion to the imperialist alliance. During his speech, the KKE MP read an extract from a U.S. State Department report saying that Greece has taken a leading role in the process of Western Balkans' integration in the EU and NATO. "Congratulations, mission accomplished" said Pafilis referring to the deputies of SYRIZA. 

#PeoplesBrigade: Over 1 million people attended a communist rally in Kolkata

Spectacular images came from India's Kolkata a few days ago, when over 1 million people gathered in the so-called "People's Brigade" rally. 

The rally, which took place on February 3, was organized by the Left Front, a political alliance led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). 

The upcoming elections and the need for collective people's struggle against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government was the major issue addressed by the speakers. Among those who addressed the huge crowd was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sitaram Yechury, who sharply criticized the Modi government. 

KKE: "The people of Turkey and Greece have nothing to divide, must fight against NATO"

Ukraine's fascist regime denies to register Petro Symonenko as presidential candidate

The Communist Party of Ukraine has issued a statement denouncing the refusal of the Central Election Commission to register the Party's leader, Petro Symonenko, as a candidate for the March 31st presidential elections:

The non-admission to the presidential election of the candidate of the Communist Party that is officially registered by the Ministry of Justice and regularly submits tax reports is a purely political action based on anti-constitutional laws on “de-communization” adopted by the ruling regime o oligarch-Nazis after the February 2014 armed coup. 

Tsipras' government betrays Venezuela - Athens endorses EU stance against Maduro

On January 27th, we were writing about the unbearable hypocrisy of Greece's SYRIZA government over the US-backed coup in Venezuela. More specifically, we were pointing out that on one hand the governmental party, SYRIZA, expresses its "full support and solidarity to the country's legal president"  while, on the other hand, Tsipras' government aligns itself with the official EU policy which is blackmailing Maduro, calling for "urgent elections" in Venezuela. 

Istanbul to host the European Communist Initiative's meeting on February 16-17

According to the new portal soL, the Initiative of Communist and Workers' Parties of Europe which continues its activities since 2013 will hold a meeting in Istanbul on February 16-17 with the call of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP). 

The meeting will be held at a time when the 100th anniversary of the founding of Comintern and will host 18 parties of the Initiative. The title of the meeting will be: 'Struggle for Communism: 100 Years of Political Heritage', the meeting will be in the form of a history conference.

PCM-PCPE Joint Statement: Exposing the role of Obrador and Sánchez governments

On the occasion of the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Spanish Government to Mexico, the Communist Party of Mexico and the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain, united by a fraternal relationship based on the principles of proletarian internationalism, made this public statement.

Greece's Communist Youth (KNE) condemns imperialist coup against Venezuela

In a statement, the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) - the youth wing of the KKE- expresses its full solidarity with the people and youth of Venezuela, condemns the imperialist interference in the country and calls for protests on Tuesday 5 February in Athens and Thessaloniki. 

Under the slogan "Solidarity with the people of Venezuela! No submission to imperialism, the people are the only superpower", KNE calls young men and women to condemn the blatant intervention of the USA, the EU and their allied governments in Venezuela. 

GUE/NGL opportunists propose Tsipras and Zaev for... Nobel Peace Prize

In a previous post, we refered to the congratulations delivered to Prime Ministers of Greece and "North Macedonia", Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev respectively, by the leadership of the "European United Left-Nordic Green Left" (GUE/NGL) party alliance in the European Parliament, over the ratification of the NATO-inspired Prespes Agreement. 

It must be noted that the GUE/NGL, alongside the Europarliament's Social Democrats and Greens, have also proposed Tsipras and Zaev as potential candidates for the... Nobel Peace Prize. On this occasion, we publish the statement of the delegation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in the EU Parliament which points out the following (from inter.kke.gr):

KKE MEP Papadakis voices solidarity with Venezuelan people against US-led coup

"Only the people of Venezuela have the responsibility to defend their interests and to elect their country's leadership" said Kostas Papadakis, EU Parliament's member from the Communist Party of Greece, during the discussion about the "situation in Venezuela". 

Papadakis denounced "the crude intervention of the USA, EU, NATO and governments of Latin America in Venezuela's internal affairs and their attempt to impose, through a coup d'etat, a puppet-president". The KKE MEP condemned the threats of the imperialists about a possible military intervention, as well as the stance of european governments. 

Communist candidate for mayor of Athens sends powerful message for struggle

The "People's Rally", our list, can express a movement of struggle and change in Athens and Attica", said the Communist Party of Greece's (KKE) candidate for mayor of Athens Nikos Sofianos. 

Sofianos, a member of the Party's Political Bureau and an Athens city councillor since 2010, said that "during the difficult years of austerity, which still persists, we gave the struggle by supporting the people's demands, asserting measures, pressing for solutions on the difficult daily life of our people which is affected by the policy of the municipal authority."

KKE's Koutsoumbas reaffirms solidarity with Venezuela, demands a clear stance from the Greek government

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas met earlier today with the charge d'affaires of Venezuela's embassy in Athens Freddy Jesús Fernández Torres at the Party's headquarters. 

According to 902 portal, the main issue of the discussion was the development in Venezuela and the US-backed coup attempt. From his side, Dimitris Koutsoumbas denounced the coup orchestrated by the United States and other Latin American governments, as well as the intervention by the EU and European states. 

SYRIZA government's unbearable hypocrisy on Venezuela US-backed coup

Does the government of SYRIZA in Greece support the legitimate administration of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, or not? The answer in this question exposes the unbearable hypocrisy of Tsipras' government which "steps in two boats" at the same time. 

On one hand, the Greek government is aligned with the official EU policy which is blackmailing Maduro, calling for "urgent elections" in Venezuela. On the other hand, the governmental party, SYRIZA, has expressed its "full support and solidarity to the country's legal president".

Europe's GUE/NGL "socialists" praise NATO expansion in the Balkans

Greece's Parliament ratified on Friday evening the Prespes Agreement between the governments of Alexis Tsipras and Zoran Zaev, with 153 votes for and 146 against. 

The agreement paves the way for the integration of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (now called "North Macedonia") in the imperialist alliances of NATO and the EU. 

European Communist Initiative: Solidarity with the people & the CP of Venezuela

Statement of the Secretariat of the Initiative of Communist and Workers' Parties of Europe in solidarity with Venezuelan people and the CP of Venezuela.

The Secretariat of the Initiative condemns the coup d'etat of the USA, their allied governments and of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the overthrow of the elected President Nicolas Maduro and for the support of the leader of the reactionary forces Juan Guaidó, who proclaimed himself president of the country with their support.

This coup d'etat is a continuation of the planned longterm campaign of destabilization of the country to promote the imperialist designs in the Latin America region and to overthrow governments that are not likable to the USA-NATO and the EU, with the latter intervening in the domestic affairs of Venezuela, supporting the reactionary forces and participating the the scheme to overthrow the elected government.

WFTU, World Peace Council condemn the imperialist intervention in Venezuela

The World Federation of Trade Unions (Federación Sindical Mundial- WFTU) and the World Peace Council (Consejo Mundial de la Paz) have issued statements condemning the US-backed reactionary coup in Venezuela and the attempt to overthrow the government of Nicolas Maduro.

KKE leader Koutsoumbas destroys Tsipras during Parliamentary debate: "You should be ashamed, you are the stooges of the U.S"

During a fierce debate in the Greek Parliament regarding the Prespes Agreement (name deal) on Thursday late night, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas responded to the hideous provocations by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

In an effort to defend his pro-imperialist foreign policy and more specifically the unacceptable Prespes deal which bears the signature of NATO, Tsipras unleashed outrageous slanders against the KKE. He even resorted to provocative references to heroic Slav-Macedonian fighters of the Communist-backed 1946-1949 Democratic Army of Greece in order to present the name agreement as an... anti-imperialist achievement!

Thousands of members and supporters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), alonside workers, pensioners, young men and women, said a militant "NO" to the Prespes Agreement, the USA-NATO-EU plans, denouncing irredentism and nationalism, during a massive rally in Athens on Thursday afternoon. 

Under the slogan "This isn't an agreement of the people but an order of imperialists", thousands men and women gathered at Eleftherias Square, where the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas delivered a speech. The demonstrators marched towards the U.S. embassy where protesters burned the flags of NATO, US and EU.
