As the Irish government assumes the Presidency of the European Union from July our people will continue to be bombarded by over-exaggerated claims about the democratic nature of the EU and the extent of the Irish government influence on decisions, selling us the myth that we are at the heart of the EU power structures.
The summit will bring together communist and workers’ parties from NATO member states, along with representatives of the World Peace Council and the World Federation of Democratic Youth. The gathering is intended to express a united and uncompromising opposition to NATO’s latest plans.
The event, held in Istanbul's Kadıköy district, formed part of the TKP's nationwide anti-NATO campaign and came amid sweeping restrictions imposed by the Erdoğan government, including a blanket ban on demonstrations and public gatherings in the capital.
The Ankara Governor's Office has announced a blanket ban on meetings, demonstrations, marches, rallies, sit-ins, press statements and similar public events from June 28 to July 10, citing security concerns related to the NATO summit scheduled for July 7–8.
The main leaders of the Euro-Atlantic capitalist bloc will meet at the G7 Summit, to be held in Évian, France, from 15 to 17 June 2026, to update capitalist arrangements regarding energy, which is highly costly for the peoples, the so-called security and anti-people governance.
The mobilization took place under the auspices of the World Peace Council (WPC) and was hosted by the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) in the framework of the Middle East Peace Movements Conference.
The discovery of a Ukrainian naval drone carrying hundreds of kilograms of explosives off the coast of the Greek island of Lefkada has sparked political controversy in Greece and renewed concerns over the country's growing involvement in the NATO-backed imperialist war in Ukraine.
According to revelations published by Rizospastis, Organ of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the drone had reportedly been assigned to strike a Russian Navy vessel escorting a commercial ship linked to Russia's so-called "shadow fleet."
According to TKP’s announcement, the rally will be held on 5 July under the slogan: “NATO means death and dishonor; long live peace, independence and socialism!” The party called on the people to gather before the summit and deliver a strong warning to the imperialists.
Despite cold and rainy weather, protesters gathered under the banner of the “Stop NATO” network to oppose Sweden’s deepening integration into the military alliance and the country’s accelerating militarization.
The party announced a week of political activities and protests between 4 and 12 July, culminating in a major rally on 5 July against NATO, imperialism and Turkey’s deepening involvement in Euro-Atlantic military plans.
In response, a demonstration will take place on Saturday, May 16, in Helsingborg. The rally will assemble at 13:00 at Furutorpsplatsen.

The anti-imperialist struggle of the peoples must be strengthened
The European Communist Action condemns in the strongest possible terms the imperialist attack launched by the United States and Israel against the people of Iran, as well as the bombings and Israel’s ground invasion of Lebanon.
“Developments speak for themselves and shatter the complacency you have fostered for so long, while confirming the persistent warnings of the KKE”, said Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), at the start of his speech in Parliament on 4 March. Addressing the Prime Minister, he refuted the propaganda that “as long as US forces are here, no one will bother us”, at a time when US bases across the region are coming under attack.
