Cyprus is dangerously being turned into a target for retaliation through the British bases. The drone attack on the NATO base in Akrotiri, combined with the official authorization granted by Britain to the United States shortly beforehand for the use of the British bases in operations against Iran, dramatically confirm the dangers created by deeper involvement.
The government bears enormous responsibility. The increasingly close alignment of Cyprus with the Euro-Atlantic imperialist plans of the US–NATO–EU and their allies, such as Israel, and the transformation of the country into a war launching pad leave no room for illusions: Cyprus is becoming part of the problem and, at the same time, a potential target.
Our people must remain vigilant. They must reject the misleading narratives of the Christodoulides government portraying Cyprus as a “pillar of stability and security” and a bridge of peace in the region. Reality proves that no security is guaranteed through alignment with Euro-Atlantic plans and war strategies.
We demand the immediate termination of any involvement of Cyprus in the war. No participation and no facilitation for the butchers of the peoples. The British bases on the island must be closed, and all operations conducted from Cypriot territory in connection with the war must cease.
