Italian communist leader Marco Rizzo blasts Berlinguer's eurocommunist legacy

In a very interesting speech delivered at the 20th International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties, which is taking place in Athens, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Italy (Partito Comunista) Marco Rizzo strongly criticized the ideological and political legacy of the so-called "Euro-communism".

The intervention of Rizzo marks a break-up with the traditional reformist line of the - once powerful- Italian Communist Party. "We reject with extreme firmness any hypothesis of political alliances between parties, both for electoral purposes, which, even worse, in support of self-styled "left "governments. The Italian labor movement has paid heavily for the lines of collaboration and compromise with the reformist parties" said Rizzo and added:

The beginning of the works of the 20th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties, which took place on Friday 23 November in Athens, was marked by a major speech delivered by the General Secretary of CC of the Communist Party of Greece Dimitris Koutsoumbas. Below you can read the full transcript of his speech: 

"We welcome you to the 20th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties, here in Athens, the city where the International Meetings first began 20 years ago at the initiative of our Party. 

We are here today before you, having completed a century of life and action. We feel justifiably proud of the 100 honorable and heroic years of the KKE.

In a fully packed congress hall at the headquarters of the Communist Party of Greece in Athens, the 20th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties began its works earlier today. The meeting is attended by 91 parties from 73 countries. 

An introductory speech was delivered by by the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas. 

The 20th IMCWP began with a short video showing significant moments from the 100 year-old activity of the KKE and the working class movement in Greece. After the video, members of the Greek Communist Youth (KNE) holding red flags and shouting slogans ("A century of struggle and sacrifice, the KKE in the vanguard") entered the hall.

With successful political and cultural events which attracted Greek immigrants as well as local comrades the Party organizations of the KKE in Britain and France honored the 100 years of the Communist Party of Greece. 

On Saturday 17th November, the British branch of the KKE organized a successful event for the Party's 100th anniversary in the suburban district of Wood Green in London. The major speaker was Tilemachos Dimoulas, member of the Political Bureau of the CC. 

Hands off the DSE memorial in Dziwnów - New anticommunist provocation in Poland

The anti-communist frenzy in Poland continues through the application of the reactionary "decommunization" laws which have been established by the bourgeois governments with the support of the European Union. A month ago, we had reported the demolition by polish authorities of a memorial dedicated to Soviet Red Army soldiers in Warsaw.

The latest incident in the series of anticommunist hysteria is taking place in the town of Dziwnów, where there is a monument in honor of the Democratic Army of Greece (DSE)*. More specifically, the monument pays tribute to wounded fighters of the Democratic Army of Greece who had been treated in a special military hospital especially founded by the Polish People's Republic. The fighters subsquently succumbed to their wounds and were buried in Dziwnów. The monument was built by polish soldiers during the socialist era.

Waterloo – a field in Belgium where in 1815 the armies of Britain, Prussia and other European powers defeated the armies of Napoleon Bonaparte. St Peters Field – a square in Manchester where on 19 August 1819 cavalry charged a crowd of unarmed protesters killing around 20 people. The closeness of the two events led to the latter being called the Peterloo Massacre; an event now the subject of a feature film, Peterloo, directed by Mike Leigh. The events in the field in Belgium were made into a film almost 50 years ago, in a film entitled Waterloo. A film about the events closer to home is long overdue.

45 years since the Polytechnic uprising in Greece: Large anti-imperialist rally to the US embassy in Athens

Under the slogan "No to the plans of the government and imperialists. NATO and its bases, out of Greece", thousands of people of every age participated in the large march, organized by the KKE, the KNE, workers and students' unions, in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic uprising. 

The march began from Stadiou avenue, passed through Syntagma Square and ended at the U.S. embassy where the demonstrators shouted anti-imperialist slogans, raising their voice for Greece's disengagement from the dangerous NATO-USA-EU imperialist plans.

Greek soldier: "The bloodstained NATO flag is a disgrace for our Navy"

The advanced involvement of the Greek Armed Forces in NATO's imperialist missions and plans has led to multiple reactions within the ranks of soldiers who have publicly denounced the participation of Greece in NATO's drills. 

A month ago, Greek Navy conscripts had publicly protested the participation of Greek ships in NATO's military exercises. This time, Stavros Papadakis, member of the "Navarinon" frigate, officially reported his strong disagreement for the involvement of the frigate in the so-called "Sea Guardian" maritime security operation of NATO in the Mediterranean Sea.

100 years KKE: Moments from a century-old internationalist activity

This year, the KKE completes a century of struggles and sacrifices, remaining the only truly new party in Greece society because it is the only one that struggles for the abolition of the exploitation of man by man. Founded in 1918, in an era when the flame of the October Socialist Revolution of 1917 lent impetus to the revolutionary workers' movement, the KKE has a rich history of struggles, sacrificies and internationalist activity.

Cuban president Díaz-Canel paid tribute to Karl Marx grave in London

In a symbolic gesture, during his stay in London, the President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez visited today the grave of one of the greatest thinkers of human history, Karl Marx.

Visiting Highgate Cemetery, the Cuban president deposited a bouquet of flowers in the name of the people of Cuba before Marx's tombstone where it reads: "Proletarians of all countries, unite". 

"We pay tribute to one of the great thinkers of humanity, Karl Marx, before his grave in Highgate Cemetery, for Cuba, in  the year of his birth's Bicentennial and the 135th anniversary of his physical disappearance", wrote the Cuban President in his twitter account. 

45 years since the 1973 Athens Polytechnic uprising against the Greek Junta

This Saturday, 17th November, marks the 45th anniversary of the Polytechnic uprising which subsequently led to the fall of the military dictatorial regime in Greece. 

The events at the Athens Polytechnic in 1973 consist one of the most significant moments of class struggle in Greece during the second half of the 20th century. 

Like every year, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and its youth wing (KNE) will organize a massive, anti-imperialist rally towards the U.S. embassy in Athens on Saturday 17th November. Similar events will take place in Thessaloniki and other major Greek cities. 

Communist Party of Ireland: The 1914-1918 War and the bankruptcy of Irish nationalism

Statement by the Communist Party of Ireland on the occasion of the celebrations for the end of the 1914-1918 First Imperialist World War:

This November is the centenary of the ending of the Imperialist War, 1914–1918, fought between British imperialism and its allies on the one side and German imperialism and its allies on the other.

It is believed that more than 10 million soldiers died in the fighting, as well as an estimated 13 million civilians. More than 65 million men from the various empires took part, of whom 5 million were British.

Poland's Communist Party denounces the fascist frenzy on independence day march

Regarding the provocative presence of far-right, fascist groups in yesterday's independence day march in Warsaw, the Communist Party of Poland (KPP) issued the following statement:

"In Poland, the 11th of November again became a pretext to promote the militarism and fascism. The authorities of the Polish state marched hand in hand with the nationalists. Once again the red and white banners serve as a cover-up for xenophobia, racism, and fascism. Poland's rulers once again use the nationalist euphoria in order to divert the attention from real social problems. The Polish state again gives the citizens nationalist paraphernalia instead of what they really need.

KKE: Tsipras "whitewashes" the EU for the people's suffering and rise of fascism

Regarding the speech of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at the Peace Forum in Paris, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement: 

"Once again, Mr Tsipras tries to to "whitewash" the EU and its supposedly "moral" values, both for the suffering of the people as well as for the rise of nationalism and fascism. 

PCPE and KKE paid tribute to the legendary International Brigades in Madrid

In a joint event that took place at Morata de Tajuña, in the community of Madrid, the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) paid tribute to the heroic International Bridages (Brigadas Internacionales) which fought against the fascists during the Spanish Civil War. 

The event took place on November 10th at the memorial dedicated to the men and women of the International Brigades, where representatives of the two parties laid wreaths in memory of the heroic fighters.

The General Secretary of the PCPE Ástor García attended the event, while the KKE was represented by the member of the Political Bureau Giorgos Marinos.

Kemal Okuyan: "The goal of communism is absolutely timely today"

On the 7th of November, 101st anniversary of the October Revolution will be celebrated. Is there anything left to celebrate?

USSR has been collapsed, that is, the country that is founded on the basis of the Revolution now does not exist. From that point of view, it might be thought that there is nothing to be celebrated, however, the Revolution is the greatest event of the 20th century whose remains cannot be wiped off from the earth and which still continues to inspire those who are oppressed all around the world. Undercover cop busted by trade unionists at workers' congress in Greece

What does an undercover police officer do in a trade union center's congress? Seems that the Greek government decided to take us to previous decades, when police agents were assigned to monitor and record the proceedings within the trade union movement. 

According to a report published by 902 portal, members of the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) in Thessaloniki detected the presence of an undercover police officer at the beginning session of the 33rd Congress of the local Trade Union Centre. 

U.S. Midterm Elections: The working class trapped between capitalism's dead ends

The “next day” of the November 6th Midterm Elections in the United States finds the working masses of the country trapped between the continuous, sharpening intra-bourgeois confrontation between the two major parties (Republicans and Democrats). 

Once again, the election process proved that the capital is in the driver's seat while the workers and the popular strata remain disempowered and marginalized.

Any change in the correlation of forces between the Democrats and the Republicans in the Senate or the House of Representatives does not change the essense of the situation for the American people. 

Thousands of workers honored the 101st anniversary of 1917 Revolution in Moscow

Thousands of people, workers, men and women of every age marched through Moscow on Wednesday 7th of November to commemorate the 101 years since the 1917 Great October Socialist Revolution that brought the Bolsheviks to power in Russia and changed the route of history.

Tsarist Russia used a different calendar to modern Russia, so the actual day of the October (25th) Revolution falls in November (7th). Holding red flags and portraits of the revolutionary leaders Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin, thousands of people marched towards Teatralnaya Square next to the Kremlin. 

Solidaridad con las caravanas migrantes, declara el Partido Comunista de México

Northern european Communist Parties condemn NATO's role in the Baltic Sea

The Communist Parties of five northern european countries, namely Germany, Sweden, Poland and Denmark, co-sign a resolution in which they condemn the aggressive role of NATO in the Baltic Sea, demanding the restoration of the political rights of communists in Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic countries.

Greece's communist mayors will run for re-election in May 2019

In mass political events that took place on Monday in three different municipalities of the Athens region, the Communist Party-backed mayors announced that they will run for office in the local elections which will be held in May 2019. 

More specifically, the local Party organisations of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in Kesariani, Haidari and Petroupolis organized political events under the title "The activity of the KKE in the municipality's administration to support the people in their struggle for the rights and contemporary needs". The KKE-backed mayors, heads of "People's Rally" electoral lists, gave detailed accounts of their policies during the last four years thus highlighting numerous examples of their solid support towards the working class.

World Peace Council: Message of solidarity and anti-imperialism from Damascus

A powerful message of solidarity towards the Syrian people and the people who fight against imperialist aggression was delivered by the World Peace Council Executive Committee Meeting which was held in Damascus on October 27-28th. 

The capital city of Syria also hosted the International Conference in Solidarity with the Syrian People and Youth on October 30th.

KKE delegation paid tribute to fallen heroes Rosa Luxemburg & Karl Liebknecht in Berlin

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas visited today, Sunday 4 November, the memorial of the German and international communist movement's leaders Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht and Wilhelm Pieck in Berlin where he laid a wreath.

"Here, from Berlin, today we are honoring the dead heroes of the struggle. Of the Greek working class, of the German working class, of the revolutionary movement, of the international movement, who offered so much in humanity, in their countries, so that the new generations can live better" said D. Koutsoumbas and added that "The visions, the ideals which all these communists have fallen for, are alive and timely and they call us in the struggle, in order to make them practice". 

US anti-war activists: "Troops off the border! Solidarity with refugees and migrants!"

In a statement, the Tucson Anti-War Committee of Arizona condemns the decision of U.S. President Trump to authorize security troops to shoot against the migrants caravan from Central America. The Anti-War Committee demands the removal of U.S. troops from the border and the asylum granting to all refugees:

On October 29, President Trump ordered 5200 U.S. troops to the Mexican border in an attempted show of force with a caravan of refugees moving north from Honduras through Mexico. Trump has since threatened thousands more troops. The troop total could end up being more than the U.S. troops continuing the war in Afghanistan.

Venezuelan communist and campesino activist Luis Fajardo assassinated in Mérida

In a press release issued yesterday by the Political Bureau and signed by the General Secretary Oscar Figuera, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) announced the assassination of the Party's Central Committee member Luis Fajardo. 

According to the statement, Fajardo was with his brother-in-law, Javier Aldana, making their way home on a motorbike, when they were killed by a burst of gunfire from a moving car. 

The incident took place in Las Palmas, at the Nueva Bolivia municipality of the state of Mérida. 

The PCV added that the Party held landowners, as well as corrupt members of the National Guardsmen and politicians, responsible for the crime, while demanding from the government to carry out a thorough investigation on Fajardo's assassination.

Party of Labour (PdA) honours the 100 years of Austria's communist movement

Honoring the 100 years of the existence of the communist movement in Austria, the Party of Labour (Partei der Arbeit PdA) organizes various political and cultural events throughout the country. 

A major event will take place in Vienna on Saturday 3 November, at 4 pm, at Gemeinwesenorientierter Jugendtreff (Polgarstraße 30a, 1220 Wien). 

The developments in the Greek Trade Union movement and the negative role of GSEE

The last years the workers in Greece have faced an extremely brutal attack from employers, governments, the EU. 

The consequences of this attack have resulted in wage cuts, abolition of rights, attacks against the collective organization of workers so that they will be easily exploitable by the bosses.

Against this attack the workers had an important weapon of resistance PAME, the class unions of Greece. Those trade unions, that since the first day were at the forefront of the struggle, of information, organization and mobilization of the working class against the anti-workers hurricane that was being prepared.

International Conference against US-NATO bases to be held in Dublin on November

KKE: Solidarity to Brazilian communists - Solidariedade aos comunistas do Brasil

In a message to the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) and the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB), the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) expresses its solidarity to the communists and the working people of Brazil.

100 Jahre KKE: Sekretär D. Koutsoumbas besucht Berlin am 3.-4. November (DE / EN)

PCPE rejects the closure of Alcoa aluminium plants in Spain

Statement by the Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) against the closure of the Alcoa aluminum plants:

Filthy anticommunist propaganda by Greek state broadcaster ERT denounced by KKE

In a report published today, Rizospastis newspaper (Organ of the CC of the KKE) denounces the screening by the Greek state-owned broadcaster ERT of an anticommunist, antisoviet documentary titled "The day when... Stalin won the war". 

The documentary - an "anticommunist garbage" as Rizospastis calls it- consists of five parts and attempts to reproduce the talks at the Yalta Conference (4-11 February 1945) by using actors. 

The murder of Jamal Khashoggi highlights the hypocrisy of the imperialists

The alleged murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist, in the Consulate of Saudi Arabia in Istanbul has made headlines. A Washington Post writer and a former newspaper editor in Saudi Arabia, Khashoggi had been an advisor of Prince Turki al-Faisal, former Saudi intelligence chief, and has also been close to billionaire investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. 

According to Middle East specialists, there are deeper subplots played into Khashoggi’s death — ties to Saudi intelligence and his relationship with the Islamist group known as "the Muslim Brotherhood". Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman branded the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. 

KKE MEP responds to vulgar anticommunist remarks made by EU Parliament's President

As 902 portal reports, the deputy of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) at the European Parliament, Sotiris Zarianopoulos, gave a decisive response to the vulgar anticommunist statements made by the EU Parliament's President Antonio Tajani. 

During the discussion regarding the monthly "Conclusions of the European Council", the KKE MEP denounced the effort of Tajani to equate the fascist monster with communism and condemned the anticommunist stance of bourgeois parties in the European Parliament. 

Kazakhstan's President Nazarbayev paid tribute to Hitler's ally Carl Mannerheim!

Kazakhstan's current President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, was once a member of the Political Bureau of the CPSU and first Secretary of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. 

Today, almost 30 years since the counterrevolution in the Soviet Union, as the undisputed -multimillionaire- leader of the Republic of Kazakhstan, resorts to various policies of extreme anti-communism. 

Massive demonstration by the KKE against US-NATO military bases in Greece (Photos)

With the major slogan being "No to the plans of the government and imperialists, NATO and its bases out of Greece", thousands of workers, people of every age, participated in a militant rally organized on Tuesday evening by the Communist Party of Greece and its youth wing KNE in Athens. 

Members and friends of the KKE and KNE protested against the imperialist plans and raised their voice against the existence of US-NATO bases in Greece. The demonstrators demanded the closure of all foreign military bases and the return of all Greek soldiers who participate in NATO missions abroad. 

Greek Navy conscripts stand up against NATO: "There is no place for NATO in Greece"

"The bloodstained NATO symbols are a disgrace for the ships of the Greek fleet" says a conscript at the Greek Navy, expressing his strong protest for the participation of Greek ships in NATO's military exercises. 

Conscripts who are serving their military service at the Greek Navy denounce the decision of the SYRIZA-ANEL government to involve Greece's Armed Forces even deeper in NATO's imperialist plans.

Communist Party of Poland: Polish people owe their liberation to the Soviet Army

In a statement, the Communist Party of Poland (KPP) strongly denounces the recent demolition of the Red Army monument at Warsaw's Skaryszewski Park, comparing this practice of the Polish authorities to what the Islamic State did to historical sites in the Middle East. Karl Marx Forever! Exhibit in honor of the revolutionary thinker opened in Russia

An exhibition under the title "Karl Marx Forever?" opened in the State Museum of Russia in Leningrad (now St.Petersburg) on October 17, featuring various art pieces and documents, thus being the first display in honor of the great revolutionary thinker since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. 

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of Karl Marx's 200th birth anniversary. According to the State Museum it "offers a comprehensive overview of images of the influential thinker in Russian culture and everyday life from the beginning of the 20th century till nowadays. The display includes over 100 works of fine art, household items, and archival records."

How ungrateful are you Poland? Authorities dismantled Red Army monument in Warsaw

Within the framework of the hideous "decommunization" law, the reactionary right-wing government of Poland ordered the dismantling of the Monument of Gratitude to the Soldiers of the Red Army at Warsaw's Skaryszewski Park. 

The Monument had been erected in 1946 in order to honor the 26 heroic Soviet soldiers who were killed there during a battle on September 1944. Throughout the years, the monument had been vandalized by various fascists and neo-Nazis.
