In a statement the National Political Commission of the PCB stresses out:
Ikaria, or Icaria, is a relatively small island in the Aegean Sea, approximately 20 km southwest of Samos. According to Greek mythology, its name derives from Icarus, son of Daedalus, who fell in the sea because he “flew too close to the sun”.
Apart from its rich history, beautiful villages, friendly people and notorious summer feasts, Ikaria is also known as Greece's “red island”. The results of the recent parliamentary elections of May 21, 2023, came to confirm the tradition, according to which Ikaria is a stronghold of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
The right-wing party of New Democracy (40.79%) prevailed in the elections, while the parties of the new social democracy, that is SYRIZA (20.07%) and MeRA25 (2.62%), which did not cross the 3% threshold, recorded a significant decline. The oldest party of social democracy, PASOK (11.46%), was strengthened, while the nationalist party Hellenic Solution (4.45%) was reelected. You can find the detailed results here: https://inter.kke.gr/en/articles/Significant-rise-of-the-KKE-a-hopeful-message-for-the-people/
Stalin was socialism’s worst enemy. History is easily forgotten, so nostalgia for the “Man of Steel” needs to be guarded against.
Earlier this year (February 2023), in similar joint statement, 30 Communist Parties condemned the anti-communist machinations of the social democratic Venezuelan government.
The full statement reads:
Among the crowd that May Day, 1962, a young photographer focused on the adolescent face of Idolka Sánchez, as she marched in front of the José Martí Memorial in Havana.
One of the almost 2,000 members of the Lidia Doce women’s militia battalion, Idolka saw him approach, camera in hand. He appeared as if hell bent on photographing her, as if he had seen her from a distance and couldn’t let her escape his lens. He had chosen her.
“On behalf of the CC of the KKE, we salute the thousands of workers and young people who took this step today and voted for the KKE, resulting in its considerable rise.
We want to congratulate the thousands of members and cadres of the KKE and KNE who gave their best, contributing to this election result.
More specifically, the KKE gains 7.23% (from 5.3% in 2019) and 425,646 votes.
The Party also increases its MPs, from 15 to 26.
The results:
Under the slogan "Only the people can save the people, with the KKE at the forefront!", thousands of workers, men and women of every age participated in the largest pre-election rally this year.
An excerpt from his speech reads as follows:
“During this pre-election period, an optimistic message is emerging from all over Greece: There are many more people, who, with a clearer mind, draw broader conclusions; who understand that what we have experienced, especially in recent years, was not accidental.
Defeating the AKP by becoming like the AKP was a great illusion and deceiving the people. The so-called Nation Alliance is the subject of this illusion and the effort to deceive the people.
AKP, on the other hand, has been deceiving the country for more than 20 years.
Dimitris Koutsoumbas. the Party's General Secretary, will be the major speaker.
Other major pre-election rallies will take place in Thessaloniki on Monday 15 May, at 7.30 pm, as well as in Patras on Tuesday 16 May at 8 pm.
In a bid to deepen its rule and, in this year’s context, take forward its undemocratic elections, the Mswati autocracy has resuscitated old traffic charges against the Deputy General Secretary of the Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS), Comrade Mxolisi Ngcamphalala. The regime has summoned him to appear in court today for those charges.
For another year, thousands of students supported the lists of Panspoudastiki thus giving a significant boost for the regroupment of the students movement, especially during a period when the conservative New Democracy (ND) government tries to implement reactionary reforms in Education.

"World War II, like World War I, was the result of imperialist rivalries for the new division of markets, territories and spheres of influence, as well as their sharpening in conditions of capitalist economic crisis [...]
In just one (1) week...
— We will provide electricity, water, natural gas and urban transport free of charge.
— We will start working to ensure that all our citizens have a house where they can live humanely within one year, we will seize the houses owned by large construction companies and distribute them to those in need, we will ensure that the rents of our citizens who do not own a house are paid by the state in this one year.
This weekend's coronation was designed to maintain public support for an institution that embodies the gross inequalities, privilege and anti-democratic nature of our society.
Recognising that many people enjoy opportunities to gather together in response to appeals based on patriotism, tradition and ceremony, Britain's ruling class and its mass media have done all in their power to promote this spectacle.
As D. Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the KKE Central Committee, noted: “Only the strength of the KKE will be the indicator of the people’s strength after the elections. And the people of Ioannina have every interest in electing a communist MP for the first time in years."
We, the undersigned communist and workers' parties, express our full and active solidarity with the Tudeh Party of Iran (TPI) as it marks the 40th anniversary of the second wave of the attack by the theocratic regime that rounded up 10,000 of itsmembers, including key cadres, on 27 April 1983. 100s of those arrested were killed under torture or subsequently executed.
“The working class can abolish capitalist slavery and build a new society without the exploiters and their parasitic nature”, stressed Giorgos Perros, member of the Secretariat of the All Workers’ Militant Front (PAME).
In Greece's Parliamentary Elections that are scheduled to be held on May 21, 2023, the people have at least 10 reasons to vote for the KKE:
1. A stronger KKE means stability for the people, their lives and their rights.
The WPC expresses its strong condemnation to the recent statement of US President Biden in which he openly threatens the DPR of Korea to end its existence. The escalation of threats and sanctions comes along with military drills of the USA with its allies from the region around the Korean Peninsula, with sanctions and coercive, unilateral illegal actions against the sovereignty of the DPRK and its people.
We, the undersigned Communist and Workers' parties, strongly condemn the continuing bloody war between the military rulers in Sudan, which has resulted in hundreds of innocent civilians killed and thousands wounded.
This catastrophic war is a power
struggle among the ruling generals aimed at preserving their
illegitimate gains and crushing the Sudanese people’s aspirations for
freedom, peace, social justice and radical change.
Comrades of Nazareth confronted the police forces and refused them access to the building. The Police did not possess any warrant, and called for backup, climbed walls, removed the Palestinian flag and the red flags, and confiscated them, all while arresting the secretary of the party in Nazareth.
"I disagreed with almost every tenet of U.S. foreign policy, from the Cold War freeze on any relations with Iron Curtain countries, to Vietnam and its aftermath, to the backing of right-wing tyrants through Africa and Latin America. But I felt a special frustration with America's stance toward an island close to home: not Grenada, but Cuba.
In the recent past, we have published several articles concerning the attempt of the United Socialist Party (PSUV) to undermine the activity of PSUV: What's going on in Venezuela? PSUV plan to assault the Communist Party exposed , Communist and Workers Parties condemn the anti-communist practices of the Venezuelan government , Joint statement for the respect of the political rights of the Communist Party of Venezuela , PSUV government's offensive against the Communist Party of Venezuela continues, etc.

What does the term “left” mean today?
The truth is that it is a term that has been abused by many people over time, both in Greece and internationally.
Comrade Chris Matlhako passed away on Thursday morning, 20 April 2023. The SACP also sends its message of condolences to the entire liberation movement which he served till he breathed his last, as well as the working-class across the world.
“This year’s Day of Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons (17/4) coincides with the escalation of the aggression of the Israeli state against Palestinians and in general, which is taking on dangerous dimensions.
The KKE expresses its solidarity with the struggling Palestinian people and the thousands of political prisoners in Israeli prisons.
"To the People of Sudan:
The intense violent military clash between the generals of the Security Committee and their forces is exposing the masses of our people to danger and recklessness of the counter-revolutionary forces' ambitions and to more bloodshed.
The 8th of April marked the 10th death anniversary of the so-called “Iron Lady”, Margaret Thatcher. Following the announcement of her death, on 8 April 2013, spontaneous celebrations erupted in numerous working class neighborhoods throughout Britain.
The fact that thousands of Britons, old and young, welcomed happily the news of the Iron Lady's death wasn't a coincidence: Throughout her political career Baroness Thatcher made everything in order to establish herself as a fierce enemy of the working class.

This week the US President, Biden, is in Ireland, supposedly to mark the 25th anniversary of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement. This is a pretext. He will spend very little time in Northern Ireland where he has one brief engagement.
