KKE on AfD surge in Germany: Capitalist exploitation and imperialist rivalries fuel the far-right

Following the regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt, where the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) won a historic victory with nearly 44% of the vote, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses that the rise of reactionary populism cannot be separated from capitalist exploitation, imperialist rivalries and the weakening of the class-oriented labour and communist movement.

In a comment, the Press Office of the Central Committee of the KKE states:

Massive protest in Greece sends powerful message: "No sacrifices for their war and profits"!

On Saturday 5 September 2026, in Thessaloniki, Greece, workers, farmers, the self-employed, young men and women, and retirees from across the country gathered in Thessaloniki to form a mighty river of struggle.

The streets echoed with slogans, demonstrating that the people—organized and determined—are fighting to assert their rights in the face of the anti-people policies of capitalist profits and war!

Czech communists rally in Prague against NATO, militarization and loss of sovereignty

Hundreds of people gathered in Prague on Saturday, September 5, in a demonstration organized by the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) against the country’s growing militarization, the policies of President Petr Pavel and what the party denounces as the subordination of the Czech Republic to NATO and the European Union.

The rally, held at Malostranské náměstí under the slogan “Stop the Czech Maidan”, also targeted the influence of oligarch-controlled media and political forces accused of deepening social polarization.

Gusanos and traitors: The Cuban-American servants of U.S. Imperialism

For more than six decades, U.S. imperialism has tried to crush the Cuban Revolution through blockade, sanctions, sabotage, subversion and economic strangulation. Washington has never forgiven Cuba for breaking with U.S. domination and choosing socialism.

A particularly reactionary layer of Cuban-American politicians — the political descendants of Miami’s gusano counterrevolution — has made this aggression a career.

The Rise of Nationalist and Chauvinist Currents and the Tendency of Political Systems Toward Reaction

By Ástor García

The historical development of capitalism in its imperialist phase continuously confirms Lenin’s thesis that, as the domination of monopolies deepens and the contradictions of the capitalist system intensify, the bourgeoisie progressively abandons its own “democratic” forms of rule and turns toward increasingly reactionary, authoritarian, and violent methods. This process corresponds to the objective necessity of maintaining class power in a context of crisis, inter-imperialist competition, and the potential rise of working-class struggle.

Communist Party of Britain to join mass anti-fascist rally in London on October 4

The Communist Party of Britain (CPB) will participate in a major march and rally in London on Sunday 4 October, marking the 90th anniversary of the historic Battle of Cable Street under the slogan “They Shall Not Pass.”

On 4 October 1936, more than 100,000 working-class people mobilised in East London against Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists. Jewish residents, Irish dockers, trade unionists and other local workers erected barricades and resisted thousands of police officers attempting to clear the way for Mosley’s Blackshirts. The mass mobilisation ultimately forced the fascist march to turn back.

CIA’s anti-communist feminist icon Gloria Steinem dies

Gloria Steinem, one of the most prominent figures of U.S. liberal feminism, died on September 2 at the age of 92. Mainstream obituaries have overwhelmingly celebrated her as a pioneer of the women’s movement. Far less attention has been given to another documented part of her political record: her collaboration with the CIA during the Cold War.

Before becoming a leading feminist figure, Steinem worked closely with CIA operatives through the Independent Research Service, a CIA-financed organization created to intervene in the World Youth Festivals in Vienna in 1959 and Helsinki in 1962.

Joseph Stalin’s bas-relief returns to Volgograd Medical University after 65 years

A bas-relief of Joseph Stalin has been restored to its original place on the façade of the Volgograd State Medical University, 65 years after it was removed during the Khrushchev-era campaign of "de-Stalinization".

The building, originally constructed as the Higher Party School in Stalingrad, was designed by architects Vasily Simbirtsev and Yefim Levitan. Its main entrance originally featured four profiles — Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin. Stalin’s image was removed in November 1961, while those of Marx, Engels and Lenin remained.

The decay of social democracy in Venezuela

Published in Rizospastis, the organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), on 2 September 2026

In light of the complete surrender of Venezuela’s natural resources to the USA through the agreement signed by the social democratic government of Interim President Delcy Rodríguez —who served as vice president under Nicolás Maduro, who is being held in the US following his abduction during the unacceptable imperialist military intervention by the US on 3 January — a bitter rift has emerged among officials of the Venezuelan Social Democratic Party.

Canadian communists call for exit from USMCA and NATO amid U.S-Canada trade war

Statement by the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Canada:

The US-Canada trade war demands expanded public ownership and Canada’s exit from the USMCA and NATO

"The trade war with the United States is already causing devastation for workers across Canada. Despite doing the right thing and walking away from a bad deal on tariff negotiations, the response from the Carney government has been to make working people pay for the deepening trade war and to show a willingness to make profound concessions that will hurt working people.

KKE slams Greece-Israel “Achilles Shield” deal, warns of deeper involvement in imperialist wars

Mitsotakis - Netanyahu (Archive)
The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has strongly condemned the Greece-Israel agreement on the so-called “Achilles Shield,” warning that it represents yet another dangerous step in accelerating war preparations and dragging Greece and its people deeper into imperialist wars and US-NATO plans in the region.

In a statement, the KKE stressed that the New Democracy government is attempting to conceal the real character of the agreement behind claims about an “architecture for the protection of Greek territory” and the country’s defense.

Venezuela-U.S oil deal exposes the total bankruptcy of social democracy

By Nikos Mottas

There are moments when political developments strip away every disguise and expose the class character of political forces with unusual clarity. The latest oil agreement between Washington and the government of Delcy Rodríguez is one such moment. After years of “Bolivarian,” “anti-imperialist” and even “socialist” rhetoric, Venezuela’s social-democratic leadership is presiding over a further opening of the country’s strategic energy wealth to U.S. monopoly interests.

Euronews, Stalin and the falsification of History

Euronews’ article on the 85th anniversary of the deportation of Soviet Germans is a textbook example of how anti-communist history is framed in contemporary Europe.

The method is simple: place Stalin in the dock, reduce Soviet power to “persecution,” and push the decisive historical fact — Nazi Germany’s war of annihilation against the USSR — into the background.

The ideological slant is obvious from the start. Euronews describes the 1939 Soviet-German non-aggression pact as a period of “close cooperation” (!!) between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.

KKE: The 200 communist heroes of Kaisariani shatter the EU’s historical fraud of equating communism with fascism

Once again, on 23 August, the European Union rolls out its anti-communist falsification of history, attempting the obscene equation of communism — the force that stood at the forefront of the struggle against fascism — with the Nazi monster itself. Yet history is stubborn, and the blood of those who fought and died against fascism cannot be erased by EU resolutions and manufactured “days of remembrance.”

Trump and Rubio should be investigated for genocide against socialist Cuba

By Nikos Mottas

For more than six decades, the United States has attempted to disguise its aggressive imperialist policy toward Cuba as a question of “national security,” diplomatic pressure or concern for “democracy”.

Behind this sanitized vocabulary stands a far more brutal reality: economic strangulation, political coercion, extraterritorial intimidation and the deliberate worsening of the material conditions of life of an entire people because that people refuses to renounce its Revolution.

Remembering Federico García Lorca, 90 years since his assassination by Franco's fascists

August 18 marked 90 years since the murder of Federico García Lorca, the great Spanish poet and dramatist who was executed by Franco's fascist forces near Granada in 1936, during the first weeks of the Spanish Civil War.

Those who murdered Lorca may have believed that a bullet could silence his voice. History proved otherwise. His poetry, theatre and enduring humanism survived his killers, turning him into one of the most internationally recognised figures of Spanish literature and a lasting symbol of the democratic and anti-fascist Spain that Francoism sought to destroy.

65 years since the construction of the Berlin Wall – The GDR and the Cold War

Sixty-five years ago today (13 August), the “Berlin Wall” was erected. Bourgeois media and all manner of “experts” are once again using the anniversary as an opportunity to wage their anti-communist propaganda campaign and engage in sweeping historical revisionism. Dictatorship, totalitarianism, an “unjust regime,” evil — there is seemingly no end to the labels attached to the German Democratic Republic. Terror, we are told, was omnipresent, with the Wall and the Stasi presented as its ultimate symbols.

Fidel Castro at 100: History Has Absolved Him!

By Nikos Mottas

“Socialism is and will be the hope, the only hope, the only path for the peoples, the oppressed, the exploited, the plundered. Socialism is the only alternative"  — Fidel Castro Ruz

A century after the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz, on 13 August 1926, the hatred directed against him has hardly diminished. Nearly ten years after his death, the same vocabulary is repeated with remarkable persistence: “dictator,” “tyrant,” “totalitarian.” Fidel is vilified, the Cuban Revolution is slandered, its achievements are denied or reduced to inconvenient footnotes, while the Cuba that existed before January 1959 is carefully pushed out of sight.

A political and historical critique of David Uclés’s "The Peninsula of Empty Houses"

The following article - book review was originally published in Rizospastis, Organ of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), on 8-9 August 2026, under the title "A Publishing Phenomenon of “Equal Distances". Real below the English translation:

David Uclés’s novel has become a genuine publishing phenomenon. More than 400,000 copies have been sold in Spain, translations have appeared in dozens of languages, and the book has been embraced by critics and readers alike as a major literary fresco of the Spanish Civil War. Precisely because its influence is so extensive, it deserves to be approached critically—not in terms of its literary technique, but of its political content and the way in which it shapes collective memory of one of the most decisive events of the twentieth century.
