KKE warns in the European Parliament: Unacceptable U.S. threats over Greenland; EU and NATO complicit

An intervention in the debate on U.S. threats and the escalating rivalry with the EU centered on Greenland was made by the European Parliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) during the plenary session in Strasbourg. The Party’s MEP, Kostas Papadakis, stated the following in his speech:

“We condemn the unacceptable threats of military intervention by the United States, NATO ally Denmark, and the EU against Greenland, following their military intervention against the people of Venezuela, as well as the threats against the Cuban people and the planned U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran.

In Greece, the Ministry of National Defense have escalated their attempts to limit political expression within the Armed Forces. Soldier Manos Papageorgiou, serving at the 4th Recruit Training Centre on Samos, has been sentenced to 25 days’ imprisonment and removed from the Special Forces — not for misconduct, but for openly declaring solidarity with working people and farmers resisting economic hardship and militarisation.

 

European Communist Action: The war machine of Euro-Atlanticism, NATO and the EU against the peoples

The European Communist Action Parties met via teleconference hosted by Communist Party of Turkey on 28 September 2025 under the title: “The war machine of Euro-Atlanticism, NATO and the EU against the peoples - The communists’ proposal for a way out in conditions of intensifying imperialist competition”.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit meeting was used to foster new illusions among the peoples. Certain forces see imperialism merely as the “empire” of the USA and on this basis they salute the promotion of new emerging capitalist powers in global affairs, such as the emergence of new inter-state unions (BRICS, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Collective Security Treaty Organization, ALBA etc.), which are formed by capitalist states, with an economic–political and military content.

KKE: The imperialist bargaining on Ukraine does not portend anything positive for the peoples

In a statement (here in Greek) regarding the negotiations between the US, EU-NATO, Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the Press Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses out:

“The live-streamed bargaining between those responsible for the war massacre in Ukraine does not portend anything positive for the people, nor does it focus on “peacemaking” and the “end of bloodshed”, as it is provocatively presented, but on the division of territories, “security guarantees” - that is, how the political-military relationship between NATO and Russian forces in Ukrainian territories will be settled - the businesses of large monopoly groups and arms packages.

KKE: The coordinated workers-people's struggle of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots against imperialist plans is necessary

In a statement concerning the 51th anniversary of the Turkish military invasion in Cyprus, which led to the partition of the island, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), stresses out the following:

"51 years have passed since the crime against the Cypriot people, the Turkish invasion that resulted in thousands of dead, missing and displaced people and the occupation of 37% of Cyprus, which continues to this day.

Communist Initiative of Cyprus: On the anniversary of the treacherous coup and the Turkish invasion

In a statement on the 51st anniversary of the treacherous coup and the 1974 Turkish military invasion, the Communist Initiative of Cyprus stresses out the following:

"The twin crimes of 1974, the treacherous coup and the Turkish invasion during Black July 1974 did not come out of nowhere. The Athens Junta and EOKA II opened the back door to Attila by carrying out the crime against Cyprus and the Cypriot people. A crime that was the result of a long-lasting process by the darkest circles of the USA and NATO that led to the culmination of the treason of the Junta and EOKA II that handed over half of Cyprus to Turkey.

European Parliament Resolution whitewashes Syria's Jihadist regime

In a statement (here in Greek), the Europarliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the recent resolution - jointly adopted by the European People's Party (EPP), Social Democrats (S&D), Liberals, the Far-right and Greens – regarding the situation in Syria. 

 

The Resolution, which was issued  on the occasion of the terrorist bomb attack at Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Damascus, consists a “whitewash of the reactionary government of the Jihadists, who have been dressed with Euro-Atlantic costumes and “sat on the neck” of the Syrian people, following the long-standing interventions of USA-NATO-EU and the military assistance of Turkey and Israel, which also occupy Syrian territories”, the KKE statement reads and adds:

Speaking during a relevant debate in the Greek Parliament concerning the ongoing migrant-refugee crisis in the Mediterranean, the General Secretary of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, said:

“According to the latest annual report by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the number of forcibly displaced people worldwide has reached 122.1 million. “Under capitalism, no government is an independent authority. Power is exercised by the bourgeoisie, and the bourgeois state is the instrument of its power, to which all institutions are subordinate. The decisions of the EU and NATO are binding and take precedence over national constitutions and national legislation. Governments of bourgeois management cannot and do not want to abolish the law of laws: capitalist profit. The defence of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie by all means is inevitable and obligatory. Laws are abolished through the revolutionary overthrow of the system itself and the establishment of a new form of power: of the working class in a socialist communist society."

We intensify the struggle against NATO and its warmongering decisions

At the June 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague, member states committed to raise military spending to 5% of GDP by 2035. This escalation, cynically framed as a commitment to “defend democracy and freedom” and “support Ukraine,” is in fact a war agenda serving the declining hegemony of Euro-Atlantic capital in the face of increased inter-imperialist rivalry.

Cypriot Communists stage protest at US Embassy: "NATO out of Cyprus, close down the bases"

A protest rally of the Communist Initiative of Cyprus (CIC) was held on Friday afternoon (27/6/2025) outside the US Embassy in Nicosia, denouncing the role of the United States, NATO and Israel in the ongoing imperialist wars and expressing their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Dozens of members and friends of the Initiative, including members of the KKE Party Organization in Cyprus, participated in the rally, shouting slogans such as “Freedom in Palestine”, “NATO out, close the bases, no participation in the interventions” and “Imperialism is not invincible”.

The ongoing struggle of the KKE and the mass mobilizations currently taking place in Greece, in which the KKE and KNE are playing a leading role, have placed all kinds of anti-communists in a very difficult position. Supporters of Greece’s greater involvement in the war, alongside Israel and the USA, accuse the KKE of supporting ‘the mullahs’, the ‘theocratic regime’ of Iran,  ‘terrorists’ and even ‘conservatism’ through its stance. They also claim that it it ‘fosters anti-Semitism’ because it supports the just struggle of the Palestinian people, who are being massacred by the murderous state of Israel.

KKE's leader Koutsoumbas calls Greek government to end "all military cooperation with Israel"

"The developments in our region are critical! The murderous state of Israel, with its attack against Iran and backed by the USA, NATO, and the EU, has lit the fuse of war, with the danger of escalation across the entire region clearly visible," said the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, on Monday.

European Communist Action: The peoples must condemn Israel’s warmongering

The ongoing aggression of the murderous Israeli state—particularly in Palestine—is now spreading to other countries in the region. We strongly condemn the Israeli attack on Iran, which also targeted civilians, and express our solidarity with the people of Iran.

This act of aggression by Israel cannot be seen in isolation. All of its imperialist allies—including the United States, NATO, and the European Union—bear responsibility, whether through direct or indirect support, ongoing military, trade, or political cooperation.
