KKE's General Secretary Koutsoumbas pays tribute to comrade Sitaram Yechury

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) expressed its sadness over the death of Indian communist leader Sitaram Yechury, who passed away yesterday at the age of 72. In a letter signed by General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the KKE praises Yechury's contribution to the international communist movement. 

More specifically, Koutsoumbas' letter which was published on "Rizospastis", stresses out:

KKE and the Communist Party of Cuba reaffirm strong fraternal relations during Koutsoumbas' visit in Havana

The Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) reaffirmed their strong, fraternal relations during a meeting in Havana, within the framework of the visit paid by KKE General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas on the island. 

More specifically, as Granma reported,  the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, received on Saturday 13/7 Koutsoumbas and the delegation accompanying him.

KKE's General Secretary to visit Cuba on 10-15 July

A delegation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), headed by General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will visit Cuba on 10-15 July, following an invitation by Cuba's Communist Party (PCC), Rizospastis reports. 

The visit will include numerous bilateral meetings between the two fraternal parties, including the Union of Young Communists (UJC), the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (Central de Trabajadores de Cuba - CTC) and other bodies of the Cuban people's movement.

On 19^th June in an interview with the radio station “Real FM”, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the KKE, referred to the results of the recent European elections held in Greece and the rest of the EU. 

Specifically for Greece, he noted that “there has been another significant electoral rise of the KKE, starting from the 2019 European elections (5.35%), the 2023 parliamentary elections of May (7.2%) and June (7.7%), and now the European elections (9.25%). This confirms that positive processes are taking place in society,in the struggles and the elections of the mass movement. I would say that a current disputing the dominant policy, i.e. that of the Commission, the EU and the New Democracy government, is being stabilized and strengthened; and, of course, this current is mainly expressed by the increase in the prestige of the KKE and in the rallying of broader forces around it.”

European elections 2024 - Greece: Massive rally by the KKE in Athens sends message of struggle and hope

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) "will rise even higher," the Party's General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas said during a large pre-election rally held at Syntagma Square on Thursday night. 

Secretary Koutsoumbas stressed the KKE's determination to send a resounding, hopeful message of unwavering struggle, by increasing the party's percentages in the upcoming European elections on Sunday 9 June.

A strong result for KKE in the European Parliament elections on June 9 will "be the best investment for the future, for all that we have to face and the battles we will fight together", underlined Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) during a speech in the Athens district of Kolonos on Sunday.

"The people are now well aware that there are no saviours... that no governmental stability, nor any governmental change, is going to change their life as long as there no real blows to the policy that sacrifices their rights for the profits of the few. This is the system and this is the EU of exploitation, wars and injustice," he said.

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will visit Germany on 9-11 May, according to a report published on 902.gr portal.  

 

Being the head of a Party delegation, the KKE General Secretary will visit Dachau, Munich, Dusseldorf and Wuppertal.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), was the keynote speaker of a political and cultural event organized by the Party's Friends Club in New York on Saturday 27 April. The event, attended by dozens of members of the Greek Diaspora who live and work in the U.S, was held at the Kefalos Society of America in Astoria.

The opening speech was made by Kostas Lourdas on behalf of the KKE Friends Club in New York, while interventions were also made by KKE candidates for European Parliament, Lefteris Nikolaou Alavanos and Kostas Gouliamos, who accompanied Koutsoumbas in his North American trip.

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, will visit Canada and the United States on 21-27 April 2024, 902 portal reported.

Being the head of a delegation, the KKE General Secretary will have meetings with expatriate Greeks in Toronto and Montreal, as well as with labour unions and representatives of the Communist Party of Canada. Koutsoumbas will also address political events organized in the two Canadian cities.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) said that "following the announcement that the leader of the reactionary regime of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is participating in the Delphi Economic Forum, as well the holding of a closed-door meeting with the participation of NATO in which Ukraine's accession to the Alliance will obviously be discussed, it goes without saying that KKE's General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas or any other party member will take part in the Forum".

Speaking in Nicosia, Cyprus on Sunday, the General Secretary of the CE of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, called for strengthening of the Party in the upcoming European Parliament elections.

In the fully-packed conference hall at the headquarters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in Athens, people of every age, workers, people of Letters, Sciences and Culture, young men and women, attended on Wednesday 20 March an event in honor of the 100th death anniversary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, the 20th century's greatest revolutionary.

The event, organized by the Party's Central Committee, consists part of a series of political and cultural events in honor of the Bolshevik revolutionary and father of the Soviet Union, on the occasion of the 100 years since his death. 

 

Mass rally of the KKE in Athens: No participation of Greece in NATO’s abattoir of war!

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, was the main speaker at the mass rally held by the KKE outside the Greek parliament on Monday 11 March.

In his speech, D. Koutsoumbas called on the people to break the omerta that the New Democracy government and all other parties are trying to impose on the involvement of our country in the imperialist wars raging in the region and in all the dangerous plans of the USA and NATO. “The message that the New Democracy government and the warmongering EU will receive in the coming elections, should be much more resounding! The only ballot paper that can carry this anti-war message across Europe is that of the KKE”, he stressed.

Mass farmers rally held outside the Greek Parliament

On 20 February, thousands of farmers from all over Greece, who have set up more than 50 roadblocks at the national road for a month now, arrived in Athens with dozens of buses and tractors and held a large march, which ended with a rally outside the Greek parliament.

The poor farmers were warmly received in the Greek capital by trade unions, university students’ unions, unions of the self-employed of the city, the Federation of Women of Greece and other mass organizations.

Blocking dozens of traffic arteries with thousands of tractors, the poor and middle-sized farmers in Greece are fighting for their future. They struggle to prevent their total extinction, to be able to continue ploughing and cultivating their fields and producing good and cheap food for all the people.

On Thursday 8/2/24, starting from the morning until late at night, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, GS of the CC of the Communist Party (KKE), visited 9 junctions in Central Greece and Thessaly, where farmers’ roadblocks have been set up. The farmers gave a warm welcome to the GS of the CC of the KKE.

European Communist Action: KKE's Koutsoumbas addressed the founding meeting in Athens

The founding meeting of the European Communist Action was held at the headquarters of the Communist Party of Greece in Athens, on Saturday 18 November.

D. Koutsoumbas: On the military conflict between Israel and Palestine and the developments in the region

Israel’s ground offensive on the Gaza Strip will trigger a general conflagration in the region, and more generally, on a global scale. This issue was rightly addressed by the recent plenary meeting of the CC of the KKE. The CC reaffirmed the public positions of the Party, as they were reflected in press releases of the Press Office, in the interventions of its MPs in the Greek and the European Parliaments, as well as its actions in the mass movement.

Α. The regional and international powers–capitalist states involved in the conflict in the Middle East 

Greece local elections: Significant reinforcement of the KKE in all regions and large municipalities

On 8 October 2023, the first round of the regional and municipal elections took place throughout Greece. 

 

The KKE participated in the elections in all 13 regions of the country, as well as in 262 municipalities, with the ballot paper under the name “People’s Rallying”. Based on the results, “People’s Rallying” gained over 10% in the 13 regions nationwide, up from 6.86% in the 2019 regional elections and 7.69% won by the KKE in the parliamentary elections last June.

 

Koutsoumbas: Join forces with the KKE in all struggles and in local elections!

The activity of the party organizations of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) throughout the country is culminating ahead of the municipal and regional elections that will take place on Sunday 8 October. The GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, is participating in the pre-election rallies in many cities across the country, such as Thessaloniki, Lamia, Larissa, Nea Ionia (Athens), Nikaia (Piraeus), etc.

At the rally in the city of Larissa on Tuesday 3 October, he stated the following:
