KKE: Tsipras government's "social dividend" consists crude and shameless propaganda

In an effort to disorient public opinion from the agenda of the upcoming new antipeople measures, Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras made an unscheduled television appearance on Monday night to announce a €1.4bn “social dividend” to be paid next month to more than 3m Greeks who have been hit hardest by the country’s seven-year recession and the antiworkers-antipeople policies implemented by the governments of ND, PASOK and SYRIZA. The handout would include €720m in one-off payments for low-income Greeks and €315m in rebates for earlier cuts in healthcare payments, Premier Tsipras said. 

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement denouncing the Prime Minister's announcements as "crude and shameless propaganda". More specifically, the statement of the Press Office of the CC of the KKE writes:

The Communist Party of Italy (PC) and Front of Communist Youth (FGC) organized a massive meeting and march on Colosseum Square of Rome. Dedicated to the centenary of the October Revolution, the event promoted communism as the only real alternative against capitalist barbarity. With the participation of thousands of people, city of Rome was decorated with red flags.

Around 5 thousand workers and students got together on Colosseum Square of Rome with their red flags for honouring the centenary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, in respect to the call from the Communist Party and Front of Communist Youth against the anti-popular policies of the EU, NATO and the Italian government. Before the event, thousands of people marhced on the streets of Rome with their chants and slogans.

Capitalism Doomed: Most young people in the USA prefer Socialism or Communism over Capitalism

According to a poll, carried out by the international polling firm YouGov between September-October 2017, 51% of the Americans between the ages of 21 and 29, defined in the report as "millennials", would prefer to live in a socialist or communist country over a capitalist one. 

The majority of young people- 56%- also said that they wouldn't be offended if someone accused them of being a communist. A similar percentage (53%) of the same age group reported that they feel that the US economic system is working against them.

From Warsaw with hate: Fascist and neo-Nazi groups marched in the streets of Poland's capital

Poland is the country where Communists are being persecuted for their activity and ideology by the bourgeois state's mechanisms, the Communist Party faces every kind of repression by the government (which demolishes Soviet monuments) and where fascists, racists and neo-Nazis march in the streets, spreading their poison of hate! According to news agencies, an estimated ten thousand far-right nationalists marched in Poland’s capital city of Warsaw on Saturday, dwarfing the official celebrations and casting a pall on the country's Independence Day commemoration.

Shameful verdict by Greek court convicts Communist Youth members who were assaulted by neo-Nazis!

A shameful verdict was issued by the single-member Magistrate Court of Thessaloniki in northern Greece regarding a murderous assault of neo-Nazi Golden Dawn thugs against Communist Youth (KNE) members  of November 2012. 

According to the Court's verdict, the perpetrators of the attack were sentenced to 21 months imprisonment. However, the same verdict convicts the... victims of the attack to 12 months imprisonment!

Demonstration of PAME in Athens: Workers send message of resistance to Tsipras' government

With a large demonstration in central Athens, thousands of working class people send a message of resistance and counterattack against the new measures prepared by the SYRIZA-ANEL government, the quartet and the capital. 

The demonstrators, who corresponded to the initiative of the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME), gathered at Syntagma Square thus sending an organised and militant message to the antipeople triangle of government-EU-employers. 

Greece's government sold ammunition to Saudi Arabia - The KKE denounces the agreement

Another shameful agreement by the- supposedly- "left" government of SYRIZA. This time, the Greek Ministry of Defense agreed to sell ammunition to Saudi Arabia, a country with a very dark role in the promotion and implementation of imperialist plans in the broader region of the Middle East. 

The agreement between Greece and Saudi Arabia was denounced by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), the Press Office of which issued the following statement:

Russia: Thousands of people celebrated the October Revolution's centennial despite Kremlin's deliberate silence

With numerous events, rallies and parades, thousands of people of every age celebrated the 100 years since the Great October Socialist Revolution in Russia and other countries of the former USSR. The celebrations took place despite the deliberate effort from the side of the Russian government to "distract" public opinion from the great anniversary. 

Large rallies, organised by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) and the Russian Communist Workers Party (RCWP), took place in Moscow, Leningrad (St.Petersburg), Novosibirsk, Omsk and other smaller cities.

This year we celebrate the centenary of the Great October Socialist Revolution which took place in Russia on 25th October 1917 (Old Style) 7th November 1917 (New Style). To all those familiar with historical materialism, this is the single most important event in human history.

Why?

Because it represents the not only the first major step in the movement away from capitalism and the dawn of socialism, it was also the first step away from class society towards non-class society.

From Souda to Alexandroupolis: Tsipras' government transforms Greece into a huge US-NATO base

The U.S. ambassador in Greece Geoffrey Pyatt made some quite revealing remarks about the interest of the United States regarding the strategic role of Greek ports and maritime industry, during a speech at the 17th Navigator Maritime Forum.

Dear comrades, representatives

of the Communist and Workers Parties,

We are particularly moved to be here in Leningrad, at the meeting being hosted by the CP of the Russian Federation, precisely 100 years after the Great Socialist October Revolution.

We continue to call Petrograd, Leningrad, the name that it took in honour of the leader of the world historically important revolution that changed the fortune and course of humanity, inaugurating the beginning of the end of capitalist barbarity  and the dawn of a new society; the name of the founder of the young workers’ state, the first socialist democracy known to mankind, irrespective of the fact that this course was interrupted in 1991, after tragic mistakes and weaknesses that allowed the restoration of capitalism.

The 19th International Meeting of the Communist and Workers' Parties kicked off in Leningrad

The 19th International Meeting of the Communist and Workers' Parties of the World started with the Working Group meeting on Thursday  1st of November in Leningrad (St Petersburg). 

This year the 19th IMCWP is being held with the title: “The 100th Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution: the ideals of the Communist Movement, revitalizing the struggle against imperialistic wars, for peace, socialism”.

The meeting will take place 2nd to 3rd November in Leningrad and then continue in Moscow between 5th and 7th of November.

UN General Assembly: Another victory for the Cuban people against the U.S. blockade #NoMasBloqueo

The U.N. General Assembly has voted 191 to 2 for the lifting of the U.S. blockade on Cuba as the United States and Israel were the only countries to vote against the resolution. Delegate after delegate called for the end of the blockade, highlighting the progressive and positive role Cuba plays in the international community. 

Before the General Assembly, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated that the policy, which has been imposed for over 50 years by Washington, constitutes a flagrant, massive, and systematic violation of the human rights of Cubans.

Communist Party of Turkey: Mass event dedicated to Socialism and the Republic organized in Izmir

TKP organised a mass activity in Izmir on Socialism and Republic.

The event of TKP, which is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution led by the Bolsheviks in 1917 and the 94th anniversary of Republic of Turkey’s foundation in 1923, attracted considerable attention despite rainfall with the attendance of thousands of TKP members and friends. 

The event, 'Socialism will suit very well to the "republic"', started with a performance on the October Revolution in 1917 and its achievements for humanity.

Actual Solidarity of the KKE to the Communist and Labor Movement of Pakistan

A delegation of the KKE consisting of Giorgos Marinos, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, and Vasilis Opsimos, member of the Economy Section of the Central Committee, visited Pakistan on October 16-20, invited by the “TAREEK FOUNDATION TRUST” and took part in events in honor of the October Socialist Revolution.
 
In particular, the KKE delegation took part in an international conference on "the 100 Years of the Russian Revolution: 1917-2017", held at the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology in Karachi on October 17th.

There, in a room packed with students and workers, a large number of university professors, historians and writers, they shed light on a variety topics concerning the October Revolution.

Declassified documents expose US role in the 1965-66 massacre of millions of communists in Indonesia

Declassified files have exposed just how much the US knew about and supported the massacre of millions of Indonesians in the 1965 anti-communist purges.

The non-governmental National Security Archive research group published 39 documents on Tuesday, out of thousands of pages of newly declassified files from the US embassy in Jakarta. They cover the period from 1963-66, documenting official knowledge and approval of the army’s death-squad operations to wipe out the three million-strong Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI) and its supporters.

Up to three million people were rounded up across the country, executed and dumped in mass graves. The files show that the US provided the Indonesian army with lists of senior communist party officials, equipment and money during the massacres. The purges led to the overthrow of communist-backed nationalist president Sukarno and the 31-year dictatorship of General Suharto.

Golden Dawn's fascists have no place in Santorini!

"The fascist-nazi ideology has no place in our island" underlines the Santorini Party Organisation of the KKE in a statement issued regarding the racist incident of 28th October. 

Last Saturday, a group of around 20 Neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party members and "sympathizers" violently disrupted the traditional student parade for the “OXI Day” holiday celebration, because the flag-bearer was a foreign student. 

Just before the parade was about to start, the fascists of Golden Dawn wearing black t-shirts with “Hellas Ultra” printed on them, started shouting and terrorizing both the students who were getting ready for their parade and their parents. The police attempted to negotiate with them, but the atmosphere was already explosive.

Catalonia independence: PCPE reflects on the intra-bourgeois struggle for dominance in Spain

In a brief video message issued on Saturday afternoon, Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont vowed to continue working to build “a free country”. “We must do so resisting repression and threats, without ever abandoning, at any time, civic and peaceful conduct,” he said, adding that his government did not have or want “the argument of force”. 

Madrid reacted to the Catalan parliament’s unilateral declaration of independence on Friday by firing the regional government and dismissing the head of the local police force.

Celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution in New York City

On November 7, 2017 Marxists in New York City will come together to commemorate a revolutionary centenary.  One hundred years to the day since the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution,  US activists and scholars will assemble to celebrate  a socialist revolution which, more than any other, defined the 20th century and still impacts our century, the 21st.

1.   Which was the role of the Great October Socialist Revolution and the experience of the soviet power in USSR in the constitution and development of your party?

This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution of 1917 in Russia, which put its seal in the 20^th century. Its outbreak and victory has had a tremendous impact on global developments. The Russian working class with the October Revolution came to embody the vision of millions of working-popular masses for a better life. It has given great impetus to the development of the workers´ movement internationally, accelerated the process of establishing communist parties in many countries, including Greece. In November 1918, representatives of the socialist organizations of Greece originally created the Socialist Workers' Party of Greece (SEKE), which a few years later was renamed toCommunist Party of Greece (KKE). Among the decisions of the KKE's founding conference is a greeting to Soviet Russia, as well as a protest - denunciation against the planned military intervention by the imperialists against Soviet power.

Tsipras meets South Korean PM, adopts the dangerous U.S. position regarding Korean Peninsula

Regarding the visit of South Korea's Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon in Athens and his meeting with his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued the following statement:

"The common statements of Mr.Tsipras and South Korean Premier about the economic relations between the two countries, among them the business of Greek shipowners in South Korea while the shipyards in Greece are under-running or shutting down, must not hide the following very significant thing: Mr. Tsipras adopted all the pretexts of the USA about the nuclear program of North Korea. These (pretexts) have as an actual aim the promotion of the geostrategic interests and dangerous military plans of the USA, which are threatening peace in the Korean Peninsula and the broader region, in the framework of their competition with other powers.

Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Khachaturian: Great classical music concert organised by the KKE in Athens

On October 18, 2017, within the framework of various events organized by the KKE to mark the 100^th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, a concert was held with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Greek Broadcasting Corporation (ERT) at the Megaron Music Hall with works by the Soviet composers Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergei Prokofiev, and Aram Khachaturian. 

The ERT Orchestra was directed by internationally renowned orchestra conductor Alexander Myrat.

Who killed Pablo Neruda?

On April 2013, the remains of Chile's Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda had been exhumed in a bid to determine the cause of his death after his assistant alleged he was murdered by Gen Augusto Pinochet's military regime.

Pablo Neruda's bones were interred in the garden of Isla Negra, his beloved beach house on Chile's Pacific coast. He is buried next to his wife and muse, Matilde Urrutia.

Four years later,the investigation into Pablo Neruda's probable cause of death, has found that Chile's most famous poet did not die of prostate cancer. The panel of experts focused on identifying pathogenic bacteria that might have caused his death. Forensic experts told a news conference in the capital Santiago, they were certain Neruda had not been killed by the disease.

KKE: Statement regarding the meeting between PM Tsipras and President Trump in the United States

Regarding the recent meeting between Greek Premier Alexis Tsipras and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington DC, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece issued the following statement:

"The Tsipras-Trump meeting evolved into an- unbelievably cynic- confession that the aim of the trip to the United States was the deeper involvement of Greece in the dangerous plans of USA-NATO in the region, as well as into an outrageous "white-washing" of the Trump government's barbaric policy from the side of Mr.Tsipras.

Only the fact that the SYRIZA-ANEL government received credit from the USA for supporting NATO plans and spending the 2% of the GDP for NATO military equipment, is enough for someone to realize that this meeting can only create new dangers for the Greek people and the other peoples of the region. 

19th World Festival of Youth and Students: Russian authorities tried to prohibit communist symbols!

With an intervention to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Athens, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) protested the unacceptable behaviour of the authorities in Sochi towards members of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) who were participating at the 19th Word Festival of Youth and Students. 

More specifically, as the 902 portal reports, the representatives of KNE faced unprecedented tight security measures and were prohibited from entering the festival venue because they had with them declarations for the 100 years of the October Revolution as well as communist banners with the sickle and hammer!

PCPE: The right of self-determination is unviable within the Spanish capitalist framework

The Communist Party of the Peoples of Spain (PCPE) issued a statement on the last events in Catalonia.

The statment of the Political Secretariat of the PCPE discussed the last events in Catalonia and decisions of the Council of Ministers. It  reminded that since the beginning of these events the Party had been "warning for months about the invalidity of the independentist process in Catalonia". The Party underlined the reasons "why the exercise of the right of self-determination is unviable within the Spanish capitalist framework". 

 

The 100th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution was honored in Athens (+Video)

Under these slogans and with the presense of representatives of Communist Parties from various countries, the Central Committee of the KKE honored the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution. The event, which took place at the KKE's headquarters in Perissos, Athens, consists part of the celebrations organised by the CC of the KKE for the centennial of the 1917 October Revolution. 

KKE comments on Tsipras' visit to the US: The SYRIZA-ANEL government confirms its loyalty to NATO-USA

Regarding the five-days long visit of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to the United States, where he will have a meeting with President Donald Trump, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece made the following comment:

"The trip of the Prime Minister to the USA- regardless of any communication tricks by the government- has one basic aim: The upgrade of the US-NATO bases in Greece and the deeper involvement of the country in the murderous plans of USA-EU-NATO in the broader region.

European Communist Initiative: "Education should be a right, not a privilege-commodity for the few"

The European Communist Initiative, which rallies 29 communist and workers' parties in its ranks, highlights the major issue of education which concerns school and university students, parents and teachers, the peoples as a whole. Education should be a right, not a privilege-commodity for the few.

In reality, it has been demonstrated that the education system under capitalism does not provide real education and is very expensive. It reflects and reinforces the dominant ideology of the society on which it is based.

KKE: Internationalist event for the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution to take place in Athens

Within the framework of the events commemorating the 100 years since the October Socialist Revolition, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece organises on Sunday 15 October, at 6 pm in Athens, an internationalist event under the title "100 years since the October Revolution. Capitalism is the past, Socialism is the future".

Miguel Díaz-Canel in Santa Clara: Che’s colossal example lives on and multiplies day after day

Miguel Díaz-Canel, first vice president of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers gave a speech during the ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of the death of Che and his compañero.

It is with great emotion that we gather here at this sacred place of the homeland to pay tribute to the protagonists of one of the most important internationalist exploits, an example of the struggle for the liberation of peoples subjected to imperialism. Brutal murderous attack against immigrant workers by Golden Dawn Nazis

A murderous racist attack against two immigrant workers took place on Saturday afternoon at the town of Aspropyrgos, Attica. The assailants were identified as members of the "Golden Dawn" neo-Nazi criminal organisation. According to news sources, a group of five neo-Nazis bearing knuckle dusters ferociously attacked two immigrant workers of Pakistani orgin at a greenhouse.

The injoured immigrants were transfered immediately to Tzanio Hospital and both are out of danger.

The 50th anniversary of Che Guevara's assassination to be commemorated in Greece

With political and cultural events the friends of Cuba in Greece will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ernesto Che Guevara's assasination. 

In Athens:

On Monday 9 October, "Alkyonis" cinema will host an event in honor of Che. The major speaker will be the Ambassador of Cuba in Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina, while the president of the Hellenic-Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity Nikos Karandreas will deliver a greeting message. The event will also include the projection of the film "Donde nunca jamas se lo imaginan" by Manuel Perez. 

Cuba denounces expulsion of its diplomats from the U.S. as politically motivated

On September 29, 2017, the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced the decision to significantly downscale the diplomatic staff of the US embassy in Havana and withdraw all their relatives, claiming that there had been “attacks” perpetrated against US Government officials in Cuba which have harmed their health.

Once again, on October 3, the US Government, in an unwarranted act, decided that 15 officials of the Cuban Embassy in Washington should depart from the United States, claiming that the US had reduced their diplomatic staffing levels in Havana and that the Cuban Government had failed to take all appropriate steps to prevent “attacks” against them.

Following today's events, the PCPE shows its concern for the increase of the repressive escalation in the Catalan conflict. Today the dictatorial nature of the State has been re-established, an element that we Communists have always denounced and for which we have especially warned in recent weeks.

Spain and the Catalan referendum: The working people must not place themselves under false flags

The developments of the last days in Spain consist part of a fierce intra-bourgeois clash about the possibility of Catalonia's secession from the country. 

The secessionist trends have been supported by a significant part of the region's bourgeois class, which utilizes the multi-ethnic character of the Spanish state, the existing peculiarities in language, customs and customs, in order to unite petty-bourgeois masses and working class people on the basis of the "right to self-determination" and "democracy". In fact, this strategy puts large numbers of working class people under a "false flag", by promoting the contradiction of  "self-determination" vs "dependence on Spain". 

The forgotten holocaust: The 1965-66 massacre against Indonesia's communists

Without any doubt, the WWII Holocaust and the 1915 Armenian genocide consist the two largest mass slaughters of the 20^th century. They are crimes which must never be erased from the collective memory of the peoples, no matter how many decades will pass. 

However, there are also less known sides of History, the “forgotten” holocausts to which the bourgeois historiography has given little importance, either by downgrading them as insignificant details of world history or by distorting their true dimensions. 

A major example of such a “forgotten” holocaust is the mass slaughter of the communists in Indonesia by Suharto's dictatorship during the 1965-66.
