Russia: Communist Party gets big boost in elections

The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) is considered the big winner of the 2021 legislative elections despite the victory of Vladimir Putin's governing United Russia party.  
 
Russian authorities have been accused of large-scale vote rigging in the election process over the weekend, while the Kremlin denies the allegations.

With 95.05% of the voting results processed, CPRF gains 19.20% of the votes, while the United Russia party secures 49.63% of the ballots on the party list to the State Duma (lower house of parliament).

What does Putin fear? Communist Party candidate banned from running in Duma elections

Almost two months before the parliamentary elections in Russia, the Central Election Commission barred Pavel Grudinin, a candidate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), from participating in the vote. 

Grudinin, who won 12% of votes when he challenged Vladimir Putin in the 2018 presidential election, was excluded from a candidate list because the Prosecutor's Office had found he held shares in a foreign company, news agencies reported.

Russian communists honored the Red Army anniversary

Despite the freezing temperatures and the restrictions due to the pandemic, hundreds of workers, young men and women, members and supporters of Russian Communist Parties and Communist Youth organizations honored the Day of the heroic Red Army on February 23rd.

In Moscow, people with red banners gathered at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier near the Kremlin Wall where they laid flowers in memory and honor of the Soviet Red Army's legendary fighters. The event was attended by a delegation of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) headed by the its Chairman Gennady Zyuganov.

Russia: Joseph Stalin's birth anniversary was honored in Moscow

In a simple but highly symbolic event in Moscow's Red Square, men and women, workers, members and friends of Communist Parties and Youths honored today the 142nd birth anniversary of Joseph Stalin

Holding red banners and portraits of the Soviet leader, the participants laid flowers to the tomb of Stalin in the Kremlin Necropolis. At the end of the ceremony, a statement to the reporters was delivered by the Chairman of the CC of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Gennady Zyuganov.

Russian communists paid tribute to the October Revolution in Moscow

With a flower-laying ceremony held on November 7th in Red Square, Moscow, communists honored the 103rd anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution

Wearing red masks due to the pandemic, workers, members and supporters of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) marched through Red Square in order to pay tribute to the most significant event of modern history. 

"There has been nothing more magnificent than the Great October", said CPRF chairman Gennady Zyuganov during his address, praising the achievements of the 1917 Revolution.

Russian communists paid tribute to Lenin on his 150th birth anniversary

COVID-19 lockdown could not prohibit Russian communists from paying their tribute to Vladimir Ilyich Lenin on his  150th birth anniversary.

On Wednesday 22 April, tens of workers, members and supporters of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) gathered at Lenin’s Mausoleum in Red Square where they laid flowers, paying their respect to the great revolutionary and political leader.

Russian communists mark the 96th anniversary of Vladimir Lenin's death

Today marks the 96th anniversary since the death of the greatest revolutionary of the 20th Century, the continuer of Marx and Engel's theoretical work and architect of the Soviet Union, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

For this reason, hundreds of workers, men and women, members and supporters of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), as well as other communist groups and youth organizations, gathered at Moscow's Red Square, in order to lay flowers the Mausoleum of Lenin.

Moscow: Workers paid tribute to V.I.Lenin on the 95th anniversary of his death

Despite the freezing temperatures, a large number of workers, young men and women, Communist Party (CPRF) members and members of social movements visited Lenin's Mausoleum in Moscow's Red Square, in order to pay tribute to the great leader of the Great October Socialist Revolution, Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of his death. 

The ceremony was attended by leaders of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, regional parliaments, communists of the Moscow city and Moscow regional branches, representatives of public organizations.

A Political Chernobyl? Russian communists denounce electoral fraud by the pro-Putin forces in Vladivostok

Communist protesters have rallied against alleged election rigging in the Pacific port city of Vladivostok on Monday following the loss of their candidate in gubernatorial elections to the incumbent from the ruling United Russia party, newspaper "The Moscow Times" reports.
Gubernatorial elections went into a second round in the region on Sunday after no candidates secured an all-out majority on election day Sept. 9. Primorye was one of four Russian regions in which ruling party candidates were forced into runoffs by candidates from other parties.

"Hет" to reform: Thousands rallied against pension reform in Moscow (Photos)

Thousands of people of every age demonstrated on Sunday 2 September in Moscow and other major cities in Russia against the proposed governmental reform which rises in retirement age limits. 

Several thousand workers gathered in central Moscow in a large rally organized by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, while similar protests were reported in Novosibirsk, Simferopol, Vladivostok and other urban centers. 

"The reform that the government offers deprives our women of a normal pension. This reform doesn't give our youth the chance to get a good job," the CPRF chairman Gennady Zyuganov said at the Moscow rally.

Zyuganov blasts Putin's government over pension system reform: "Pensioners are offered as a sacrifice”

The governmental bill on pensions, which rises retirement age limits, is "the most cruel and cynical of the last 25 years", said the Chairman of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) Gennady Zyuganov during a discussion at the Duma.

In a fierce speech against the anti-people reform proposed by the government, Zyuganov called President Vladimir Putin not to proceed with the pension reform but, instead, to fulfill his promise for improvement of the people's quality of life. "I am appealing to the president: 77% voted for you. But 91% are against this reform.'' said the CPRF Chairman.

Thousands of Russian workers protested against anti-people pension reform

Tens of thousands of Russians took part Saturday in rallies across the country organised by Communists to protest against government's anti-people plan to hike the pension age.
In Moscow, organisers said up to 100,000 people gathered for a permitted rally against the government-backed reform, which is currently going through parliament. However, reporters put the turnout much lower at around 10,000. Protests took place in dozens of cities and towns in far eastern Russia, Siberia and western Russia.

The 19th International Meeting of the Communist and Workers' Parties kicked off in Leningrad

The 19th International Meeting of the Communist and Workers' Parties of the World started with the Working Group meeting on Thursday  1st of November in Leningrad (St Petersburg). 
This year the 19th IMCWP is being held with the title: “The 100th Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution: the ideals of the Communist Movement, revitalizing the struggle against imperialistic wars, for peace, socialism”.
The meeting will take place 2nd to 3rd November in Leningrad and then continue in Moscow between 5th and 7th of November.
