The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) accused the conservative New Democracy (ND) government on Tuesday 2/4 for indirectly providing white phosphorous weapons to Ukraine. Speaking at the Parliament, KKE MP Nikos Papanastasis said:
“The ND government, leading the way in supporting the NATO-US-EU military operations in Ukraine, within the war with Russia, has once again submitted for approval a new list of weaponry and ammunition for sale, in addition to the unknown huge quantities that have already been sent since the beginning of the war”.
The KKE MP added that “today, exceeding all limits of involvement in this imperialist war and violating any notion of observance of international treaties and UN prohibitions concerning the use of the forbidden chemical substance called “white phosphorous”, the government sells to the Czech Republic – with final destination being Ukraine - tens of thousands of smoke missiles that contain the “white phosphorous” substance”.
“With such choices, the ND government consciously creates the conditions for the implementation of severe war crimes. The silence of the other parliamentary parties in this ongoing crime constitutes complicity”, Papanastasis said.
It is noted that since the beginning of the imperialist war in Ukraine, the Greek government under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has been deeply involved in the US, NATO, EU plans, sending military aid to Kyiv, thus exposing the Greek people in serious dangers in case of a generalized conflict.
