Statement by the European Communist Initiative "On the “green” and war profits of business groups and the energy poverty faced by the peoples":

The war in Ukraine has exacerbated the already existing inequalities in our society, deepening the worsening living conditions of the working majority, in conditions of an imminent capitalist crisis following the 2020 crisis, which acted as a catalyst for Covid-19. According to official EU data, one in four inhabitants of the EU (more than 122 million people) is living in poverty.

KKE denounces Turkey's air strikes in Syria, north Iraq

The new Turkish military offensive in Syria and northern Iraq consists a demonstration of power under the compliance of USA, EU and Russia, reads a statement issued by the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE).

More specifically, the statement reads (here in Greek):

"The KKE denounces Turkey's new unacceptable air strike on the Kurdish areas of Syria and Northern Iraq, which is added to the military operations of the previous period and the maintenance of the Turkish occupation of Syrian lands and military forces on Iraq's territory. 

Italian communist and workers' organizations: NO TO IMPERIALIST WAR — NO ALLA GUERRA IMPERIALISTA

The following joint statement was adopted by Italian communist and internationalist organizations which participated at the national conference "The war in Ukraine, the economic crisis and the great world chaos. What to do?", held on 16 October in Rome.

What to do?" held on 16 October in Rome, we call for maximum mobilization against the war and unitedly promote the following theses for collective debate:

KKE: On the warmongering resolution supported by ND, SYRIZA and PASOK in the European Parliament

At a time when the imperialist war in Ukraine is dangerously escalating, the European Parliament adopted a resolution (07/10/2022) that literally constitutes a warmongering frenzy. Among other things, it ratifies and endorses the decision of the EU and member states to “increase military aid to Ukraine”, calls for the establishment of “a mechanism for military aid through leasing and lending to Ukraine”, and calls for coordination between governments even in regard to arms deliveries to Ukraine.

KKE: The images of naked refugees on Greek-Turkish border expose capitalist barbarity

Greek border guards and officers of EU border agency Frontex found 92 unclothed migrants from the banks of the river Evros, on the northeastern border with Turkey on Friday, Greece's Citizen Protection Ministry said on Saturday.

The migrants “had been abandoned completely naked and without any equipment,” the ministry said.

Statement of the KKE on the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia

Following the announcement of the annexation of Ukrainian territories by the Russian Federation, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued the following statement (here in Greek):

"The annexation of the Ukrainian territories of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Lugansk and Donetsk by Russia, announced by President Putin following the completion of the referendums in these regions, adds more “fuel to the fire”.

Statement of the KKE on Putin's address — Заявление КПГ по обращению Путина

Following the public address of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on Wednesday 21 September, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement, underlining the escalation of the imperialist conflict and demanding Greece's immediate disengagement from the dangerous plans of EU and NATO. 

The statement reads:

The imperialist war being waged in Ukraine between the Euro-Atlantic forces and capitalist Russia is heading for a new devastating escalation. It is confirmed that the build-up of military forces and materiel on both sides does not lead to the end of the war, but instead feeds the vicious circle of the continuation and intensification of the conflict.

D. Koutsoumbas: The peoples’ struggle can put an end to the causes of the bloodshed of war

The 48th festival of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) continues with a wide range of political and cultural activities. On Saturday 17/9/22, the GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, addressed a speech at the events in Thessaloniki. 

 

In his speech, he highlighted the strategic identification of the parties supporting Euro-Atlanticism and the choices of capital and referred in detail to the struggle of the KKE and its political proposal. He devoted an important part of his speech to international developments and the KKE’s assessments of them,an extensive excerpt of which reads as follows:

KKE on Erdogan's provocations: NATO, US and EU fuel Turkish aggression

In a statement concerning the provocative statements of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in the United Nations, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out:

“Erdogan's delirium at the UN General Assembly, where he presented the entire range of claims by the Turkish ruling class against Greece and Cyprus, cannot be interpreted as a pre-electoral tactic, nor as a product of Turkey's alleged isolation. 

KKE MEPs: The European Union encourages and promotes the destruction of Soviet WWII monuments

The MEPs of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounced the destruction of monuments of the great Anti-fascist Victory of the Peoples, which is taking place with the encouragement of the EU, by submitting a Question to the European Commission.

They note that “After the dissolution of the USSR, a plan of destruction and vandalism of monuments commemorating the Great Anti-fascist Victory of the Peoples is being implemented in several EU member states. These provocative actions have multiplied since the imperialist conflict in Ukraine. 

KKE: "Hands off the anti-fascist monuments of Europe”

“The Red Army's antifascist Victory cannot be erased! Hands off the anti-fascist monuments of Europe” points out a statement of the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) concerning the dismantling of the Soviet monument in Riga, Latvia on 23 August. More specifically, the statement (here in Greek) reads: 

“The decision of the authorities of Latvia and the city of Riga to destroy the entire complex of the anti-fascist monument, which was located in a central part of the Latvian capital and related to the liberation of Riga from the fascist invaders, is another step towards the rewriting of history. It took place in a country where anti-communist persecutions are practiced and which has already proceeded to the justification of the Nazi collaborators, the Nazi “legions” which officially parade ever year. 

KKE MEP: The Euro-Atlantic camp and capitalist Russia are complicit in war massacres

On Wednesday 6 July, a discussion titled “The relations of the Russian government and diplomatic network with parties of extremist, populist, anti-European and certain other European political parties in the context of the war” took place at the plenary of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

KKE: Statement on the NATO Summit in Madrid

In a statement about the NATO Summit that takes place in Madrid, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses out:

KKE MEP: The Melilla massacre is an example of EU's criminal policy

The EU Parliament Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) strongly condemned the criminal policy of the EU and its governments that resulted in the recent tragic massacre of migrants in Melilla. 

 

During a debate in the Committee on Political Liberties (LIBE), in the presence of EU Commissioner Ylva Johannson, KKE MEP Kostas Papadakis made the following intervention:

Massacre in Melilla: A Barbaric Crime of Europe’s “Progressive” Imperialism

The images of barbarism and inhumanity in Melilla, on the Spanish-Moroccan border, are a modern crime of the so-called “progressive” imperialism of Europe.

The same forces that for centuries plundered the wealth of African countries and exploited its peoples as slaves, today kill hundreds of uprooted people in live transmission in cold blood.

The EU and the governments that cut the wages of Europe’s workers, impose barbaric anti-peoples’ policies, persecute those who resist and attack democratic and trade union rights within their own countries, also try to target the poor and oppressed of other countries, and cultivate racism to hide their brutal anti-workers’ policies.

In a statement issued today, 9 June, the Secretariat of the European Communist Initiative stresses out:

"The Secretariat of the European Communist Initiative deplores and condemns the plans of the bourgeois classes and governments of Sweden and Finland to join NATO. This is a move that entangles the peoples of both countries, the whole of Scandinavia, and overall in great dangers and adventures.

Denmark's communists stand up against NATO and EU

In the referendum held on June 1st in Denmark the government's proposal to join the EU’s common defense policy was approved by 67% of the voters, while 33.1% voted against. The referendum comes just a weeks after the applications of Sweden and Finland to join the imperialist alliance of NATO.

“Tonight Denmark has sent a very important signal. To our allies in Europe and NATO and to Putin”, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen declared echoing the aspirations of the Danish bourgeois class. “Denmark now can partake in the European cooperation on defense and security. And for that I’m very, very happy”, the Prime Minister added. 

KKE slams Mitsotakis' government for sending tanks to Ukraine

The Greek government's decision to supply additional armored vehicles to Ukraine consists a “very serious development” which boosts the dangerous participation of the country in the war, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses out in a statement. More specifically, the KKE statement (here in Greek) reads: 

 

“The ND government continues unabated and “gets off the ground” the dangerous participation of our country in the Ukraine war, this time through the sending of armored vehicles. In fact, the issue became known by the German Chancellor Scholz, announcing a Greek-German agreement for their replacement, while Mr Mitsotakis concealed it in his own press conference.  

Koutsoumbas: “The right side of history is the struggle against the imperialist war in every country”

“The anniversary of Greece's accession to NATO may be, without doubt, a black anniversary, but for the working class and the people, especially the younger ones, is also an opportunity: To refer to the blood-stained, full of crimes history of this imperialist organization which continues to be written even today”, stressed out the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece Dimitris Koutsoumbas during a speech at the Party's headquarters in Athens. 

KKE: On the imperialist war in Ukraine and the stance of the CPRF

All the above, underscored by the leader of the October Revolution more than one century ago, are absolutely true as regards the war in Ukraine. Many articles to date have highlighted aspects of the fight over markets, raw materials, and commodity transport routes.
