KKE slams Mitsotakis' government for sending tanks to Ukraine

The Greek government's decision to supply additional armored vehicles to Ukraine consists a “very serious development” which boosts the dangerous participation of the country in the war, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses out in a statement. More specifically, the KKE statement (here in Greek) reads:

“The ND government continues unabated and “gets off the ground” the dangerous participation of our country in the Ukraine war, this time through the sending of armored vehicles. In fact, the issue became known by the German Chancellor Scholz, announcing a Greek-German agreement for their replacement, while Mr Mitsotakis concealed it in his own press conference.

This is a very serious development that – in addition to the deeper involvement of Greece in the Ukraine War, especially at a period when the dangers of such options become even more apparent – is directly related to the country's defense”.

For that reason, the government and the competent Ministry of Defense must immediate provide explanations, both the content of this decision, such as for example which Greek units are related to the sending of the specific tanks, as well as for the details of the Greek-German agreement”.

Scholz: "We will provide Greece with German infantry fighting vehicles"

According to Reuters, Germany will deliver infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) to Greece so that the government in Athens can pass on Soviet-style weapons to Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Tuesday.

"We will provide Greece with German infantry fighting vehicles," he told reporters after a two-day EU summit in Brussels, adding he had struck an agreement with the Greek prime minister.

Scholz didn't give any details as to what kind of infantry fighting vehicles Berlin will hand over to Greece - or what kind of weapons Athens will pass on to Kyiv.
