Ukraine: 100 days since the kidnapping of Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich

One hundred days have been passed since the kidnapping and detention of Communist Youth members, Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich, by the reactionary Ukrainian regime.

Under the pretext of false and groundless accusations, the two brothers were arrested on March 7th and tortured in a Kiev detention center.

Since then, numerous Communist Parties and Youth organizations from all over the world, including the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) have demanded their immediate release.

In a question (read here) submitted to the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell, the European Parliament Group of the  Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the arrest of the two members of the Leninist Communist Youth Union of Ukraine and demands from the EU Commission to express its position on the issue of anti-communist persecutions in the country.

In a recent post on Twitter, the WFDY stresses out:

"100 days ago, we launched our campaign for the freedom of Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich, our Ukrainian comrades that were kidnapped and brutally tortured by the Ukrainian reactionary regime.

We, the World Federation of Democratic Youth, are following with great concern this unjust imprisonment that we call a kidnapping under false accusations and no minimum human rights upon calling an attorney.

We reiterate that the suffering of the comrades Kononovich will be the responsibility both of the Ukrainian government and the imperialist NATO, the European Union and the United States, who are supporting this criminal regime.

We demand their immediate release and call for a redoubling of solidarity to stop the injustice kidnapping of comrades Mikhail and Aleksander Kononovich".
