PAME: Strong, militant successful Congress with more than 2,000 delegates

On June 18-19, 2022, the heart of Greece's working class movement was beating in Piraeus, where the National Meeting of the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) took place, with the participation of more than 2,000 delegates from 506 trade unions of private and public sector from all over the country in addition to 60 Pensioners Unions. 

Under the major slogan “Our Power is in Organization, Hope lies in our Struggles, Our weapon is Solidarity”, trade unionists-workers discussed the current situation in the labour movement, as well as the next steps for the intensification of the class struggle. 

The opening speech of the Congress was delivered by Giorgos Perros, on behalf of the Executive Committee of PAME.

PAME's National Meeting was also attended by foreign delegations, including the leadership of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) headed by Secretary General Pambis Kyritsis and Deputy General Secretary Swadesh Dev Roye from India's CITU. Also 31 trade unionists from 19 countries of Europe and Palestine.

On Friday 17 June, the day before, PAME organized an international seminar with the participation of the foreign delegations under the theme “The Action of the Unions in All Conditions - Experience from the Strikes and Workers’ Struggles during the Pandemic”. 35 unionists from 20 countries participated in the event, including Mzwandile Michael Makwayiba from South Africa and Pambis Kyritsis from Cyprus, President and General Secretary of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU).
