Emblematic Greek farmer-unionist and former KKE MP Vangelis Boutas dies at 66

The farmers’ movement in Greece mourns the death of militant trade unionist Vangelis Boutas who died at the age of 66. A member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), who served as a Parliament deputy for KKE between 1996 and 2000, Boutas was for many years a leading figure of the struggles of lower and middle-class farmers. 

In a statement, the CC of the KKE expresses its deep sorrow for his death, pointing out that “comrade Vangelis had been an emblematic figure of our country’s farmers movement, a genuine, humble man, a pioneer militant”.

Venezuela: The Communist Party denounces the illegal dismissal of trade unionist by state company

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) publically denounces the unjustified and illegal dismissal of the local leader and worker of the state-owned CVG Carbonorca company, Sergio Requena, who is also a candidate for the Popular Revolutionary Alternative (APR) to the National Assembly in circuit 2 of Bolivar State. 

From the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), we join the voices of solidarity and support that come in floods from within the Venezuelan labour and popular movement to condemn the unfair and illegal dismissal to which the Comrade Sergio Requena, national coordinator of the Productive Workers' Army (EPO), are being subjected to by CVG Carbonorca, a state-owned company located in Guayana City, Bolivar State, where you are Workplace Director by decision and democratic election of workers. 

Israel-UAE-Bahrain agreement: Palestinian and Lebanese parties condemn the deal

In a joint statement issued in Beirut on September 14th, the Lebanese Communist Party (LCP) and three political parties from Palestine condemn the recent normalisation deal signed by Israel, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Washington DC. 

As the statement points out the Lebanese Communist Party, the  Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) and the Palestinian People’s Party (PPP) "condemn the normalization of relationships between the Zionist entity from one side, and UAE and Bahrain from the other side".

Communist Youth of Greece (KNE): The Nobel Peace Prize must be awarded to Cuban doctors!

The Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), the youth wing of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), expresses its support to the campaign that requests the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to be given to Cuba’s “Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade”. 

A statement issued by the Press Bureau of the Central Council of KNE points out the following:

“Cuba, with a population of 11 million, blocked for more than 60 years by the criminal embargo of the U.S. and targeted by EU’s multiform interventions, sends once again a powerful message of solidarity and humanitarianism!

Recently, the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation, while a few weeks earlier it held its 13th congress, under difficult conditions. The CC of the KKE in its message to the 13th Congress of TKP noted, among other things:

"The communists of Turkey, honoring the 100th anniversary of the founding of the heroic Communist Party of Turkey, can take further steps. Turkey, but also the whole region of the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans, need an even stronger Communist Party of Turkey, a 'revolutionary party, a party for revolution', as is the slogan of your 13th congress."

Greece: Large militant demonstration by PAME and Trade Unions in Thessaloniki

Under the slogan “We paid a lot – We shall not pay again”, thousands of workers, self-employed and unemployed people, farmers, women and students participated on Saturday 12th September at the large demonstration organized by the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) and Trade Unions, on the occasion of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ speech at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).

Behind the banners of the Trade Unions, Labor Centers and Federations, protesters from Thessaloniki and the broader region sent a militant message to the anti-people, anti-worker attack of the conservative New Democracy (ND) government. 

Google, Facebook reject communism-related ads: The case of KNE Festival

It is more than obvious that multinational tech monopolies, such as Google and Facebook, aren’t friendly towards communist ideas. There have been plenty of cases where social media giant Facebook has blocked posts and pages that feature the sickle and hammer symbol or propagandize anti-imperialist policies.

According to an article published today in 902.gr portal, Google and Facebook have recently rejected advertisements promoting the Festival of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), in what seems to be another incident of anti-communist discrimination. 

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) awards KKE General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas

The Central Committee of Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has awarded Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece, with TKP Mustafa Suphi Friendship Award on the 100th anniversary of TKP's foundation.

As soL news reports, TKP announced the award with a letter written by the Central Committee. The letter is as follows:

On the political situation in Venezuela: Letter by the Communist Party (PCV)

In a letter addressed to the fraternal Communist and Workers' Parties of the world, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) describes the major issues concerning the current political, economic and social situation in Venezuela.

It must be noted that in August, the Communist Party of Venezuela along with other parties and political groups formed an anti-imperialist alliance under the name "Popular Revolutionary Alternative" (Alternativa Popular Revolucionaria- APR).

Fire destroys Moria refugee camp in Greece — Statements by KKE and PAME

A large fire has destroyed Greece's largest refugee concentration camp in Moria, Lesbos. About 25 firefighters and 10 engines battled the flames as migrants were evacuated. 

Moria was home to nearly 13,000 refugees and migrants, which is more than four times the number the camp can officially hold. 

In a statement published in 902 portal, the Press Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) demands the immediate closing of Moria urging the authorities to proceed to the relocation of the refugees-migrants to safe places, under all the necessary measures of health protection, in mainland Greece. 

Serbian communists denounce government's intention to relocate embassy in Jerusalem

The New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) denounces the announcement made by the government of Aleksandar Vučić on the possible relocation of the Serbian embassy in Israel, from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. 

In a statement under the title "Jerusalem is not the capital of Israel", the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia points out the following:

In response to the shameful announcement and agreement signed by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, together with US president Donald Trump and the so-called president of the so-called state of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, about Serbia’s intention to move its embassy out of Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) should like to point out a few facts to demonstrate why this intention may not be acted upon under any circumstances. 

Makronissos, the “Greek Dachau”: Great event by the KKE in honor of political prisoners

In a deeply emotional event held on Sunday, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) paid tribute to the thousands of communists and other militants-political prisoners who suffered in Greece’s “Dachau” – the concentration camp of the island of Makronissos. 

The Central Committee organized the event on the occasion of the presentation of a monument, created by sculptor Markos Georgilakis, which is dedicated to all those who were imprisoned in Makronissos by the bourgeois state between 1947 and 1974. It was an act of remembrance and honor to those who teached bravery and endurance, despite the unspeakable difficulties they faced. 

Pierre Komorov elected General Secretary of the Revolutionary Communist Party of France

Following the death of Maurice Cukierman on July, the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Communist Party of France (PCRF) unanimously elected Pierre Komorov as the Party's new General Secretary. In a statement, the CC of the PCRF points out:

In view of the death of comrade Secretary General Maurice Cukierman on July 22, 2020, the PCRF Central Committee on August 29, 2020, unanimously elected Pierre Komorov (PK) Secretary General of the Party.

KKE: NATO promotes dangerous settlements in East Mediterranean, fosters Turkey's aggression

In a statement issued today, the Press Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) comments on the announcement made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that he had brokered a Greek-Turkish agreement to begin 'technical talks' on "establishing deconfliction mechanisms" in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Kazakhstan's Socialist Movement denounces persecution of trade unionist by authorities

In a statement, the Socialist Movement of Kazakhstan denounces the persecution and torture of political activist and leader of the unemployed movement Yerzhan Elshibayev by the state authorities. 

The statement is as follows:

On October 18 2019 the leader of the movement of the unemployed Yerzhan Elshibayev was sentenced to Zhanaozen city in Kazakhstan to five years in prison on a fabricated in a three-year-old case. During the trial, the victim and witnesses indicated their complete innocence and refused all claims. However, the court, despite the mass protests of residents, gave him a prison sentence.

KKE backs campaign seeking Nobel Peace Prize for the Cuban medical brigades

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has endorsed the campaign which requests that the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize must be awarded to the “Henry Reeve” Cuban Medical Brigade for its internationalist activity. 

Giannis Giokas, KKE MP and Secretary of the Greece-Cuba Friendship Group of the Parliament, has sent a letter to the Group’s members asking them to provide their support to cause. 

Stop Warmongering! The Communist Party of Turkey honors World Peace Day

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a statement on September 1, the World Peace Day*.

Slovak communists denounce their exclusion from official event honoring WW2 resistance

Every year Slovakia celebrates the armed insurrection organized by the Slovak resistance movement against the Nazis and their collaborators during the Second World War. 

The known as Slovak National Uprising (SNP), in which the communists played a decisive role being the main organizers of the anti-fascist struggle, was launched on 29 August 1944 from Banská Bystrica.

This year, the authorities of the Slovak National Uprising Museum, which organizes the annual memorial events, decided to exclude the Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS) from participating in the official commemoration event for the 76th anniversary. For this decision, the SNP Museum invoked the COVID-19 pandemic situation and the fact that the event, scheduled for August 28-29, would be held as an "apolitical event" with limited participation. 

Philippine Communist Party (PKP-1930) marked its 90th founding anniversary

On August 26, 2020, the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas (PKP-1930, the Philippine Communist Party) celebrated the 90th anniversary of its founding with a virtual conference participated in by a number of its provincial, city and municipal committees from Cagayan Valley to Southern Luzon. While this anniversary used to be celebrated with mass gatherings, community quarantine regulations under the present COVID-19 pandemic required that the celebration yesterday be held through a virtual conference using information technology methods of video-conferencing. 

Turkish lawyer Ebru Timtik dies after 238 days of death fasting

In a message posted on Twitter, the People's Law Bureau announced the death of Ebru Timtik, a lawyer from Turkey who was on the 238th day of death fasting demanding a "fair trial". 

Timtik, whose health condition had been deteriorated lately, was held at Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital in Istanbul's Bakırköy.

A member of the Proggerssive Lawyers' Association (ÇHD), Timtik was sentenced to 13 years 6 months in prison for "terrorism-related" offenses following a deeply flawed trial in March 2019. Her partner, also a lawyer-member of ÇHD, Aytaç Ünsal, was jailed for 10 years. 

KKE in the European Parliament: Denounces the intervention of EU-NATO-U.S in Belarus

During an extraordinary meeting of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee regarding the situation in Belarus, the representative of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Kostas Papadakis denounced the intervention of the EU, NATO and U.S. in  the country. 

As 902 portal reported, in his speech the KKE MEP pointed out the following:

"From here, we denounce that these days' events in Belarus are linked to the intervention of  the EU, NATO and the U.S. The pretexts of the EU and its allies are the known ones which were used in Syria, Libya, Ukraine, Iraq, etc.

EU and 'Black Ribbon Day': The anti-communist falsification of history shall not pass!

Once again the European Union resorts to hideous anti-communism on the occasion of the so-called “European Day of Remembrance for victims of Stalinism and Nazism” (known as "Black Ribbon Day" which is observed annually on August 23rd. 

In a joint statement, the vice-president of the EU Commission Vera Jourova and the EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders reproduce the same old anti-communist slanders about the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Without any respect for history, the EU officials reproduce the blatant lie about the supposed “alliance between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany”.
