KKE condemns foreign intervention in Belarus, calls the people to organize their own struggle

In a statement issued on Monday 17 August, the Press Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns the foreign intervention in the internal affairs of Belarus and calls the working people to organize their own independent struggle against capitalist barbarity.

The statement, which was published in 902 portal, reads:

"The developments in Belarus are linked to the intervention of the EU, NATO and the USA, being the result of the fierce competition between these powers and Russia for the control of the country’s markets, raw materials and transportation networks, as well as for geopolitical footholds in Eastern Europe and the broader region of Eurasia.

"It is ridiculous and at the same time provocative the fact that countries like Poland and the Baltic States, where blatant violations of democratic rights and freedoms take place (such as trials against opposition newspapers, imprisonment of communists, restriction and the prohibition of Communist Parties, etc.), are used as “forerunners” of the EU and US’ interventions, supposedly for “freedom” and “democracy”.

The KKE statement also stresses out:

“Of course, the solution for the people of Belarus is not the preservation of the current bourgeois regime which is in line with the market and capitalist barbarity, entrapped in the “millstones” of intra-imperialist competitions, as the recent visit of Pompeo in the country showed. Neither the working people must submit to appeals, such as the one expressed by the current President, to “stay away from politics”. The people are called to do the exact opposite”.

“The KKE, condemning the foreign interventions in the internal affairs of Belarus, expresses its solidarity to the communists and the working people of Belarus”, alongside with the conviction that the people “can and must organize their own, independent struggle based on their interests, to repel the foreign interventions, to demand the satisfaction of their contemporary popular needs, to formulate the road towards socialism, which is the only alternative solution to the dead ends of the capitalist mode of development”.
