Many young conscripts made a distinct, symbolic, and meaningful presence felt at the recent workers’ rally in Athens against the imperialist war and for Greece’s withdrawal from it. By taking part in the mass rally organized by the trade unions, they stood side by side with their colleagues, fellow students, and parents. Together they chanted the slogan: “Conscripts are the children of the people and have no business outside the borders”.

Recent developments in Venezuela and Iran reflect an escalation of US imperialist aggression in the wider regions of Latin America–Caribbean and the Persian Gulf, warnings that the KKE issued to the peoples in a timely manner.
Thirty-five years after the counter-revolution, the overthrow of socialism, and the capitalist restoration in the Soviet Union and other socialist states, the KKE continues to struggle steadfastly under adverse conditions marked by an international unfavourable correlation of forces.
The Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska was used to cultivate complacency and false hopes that a compromise between the imperialist powers could lead to the elimination of the causes of war and "real peace" for the peoples, which would put an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine. The KKE has already taken a position on this issue (see here https://inter.kke.gr/en/articles/Statement-by-the-Press-Office-of-the-Central-Committee-of-the-KKE-on-the-Trump-Putin-meeting/ and https://inter.kke.gr/en/articles/Statement-on-the-negotiations-regarding-the-war-in-Ukraine/ ), yet we would like to take the opportunity today to comment on some political positions that are being reiterated regarding the achievement of a "just solution," which you argue could also be supported by communists.
“The Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska was part of the imperialist bargaining based not on the interests of the peoples, the Ukrainian and Russian people who are paying the price of the war, but on the interests of the US and Russian monopolies, the expansion of their business activity and the increase in their profitability.
Some argue that the war can be stopped or prevented from escalating. For example, Israel may back down under pressure from international solidarity or from actions such as boycotting Israeli products and companies.
