Joint statement by the KKE and TKP on developments in Greek-Turkish relations

In a joint statement (here in Greek) on developments in Greek-Turkish relations, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) state:

“The dangerous developments unfolding in our region, which lies close to and is affected by the fronts of imperialist wars and plans in Ukraine and the Persian Gulf, are triggering a chain of alarming developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Aegean and Greek-Turkish relations.

KKE: Von der Leyen’s EU agenda brings militarization, austerity and new burdens for the people

The European Parliamentary Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) strongly criticized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s State of the Union address, arguing that the priorities she outlined are “alien to the concerns and opposed to the interests of the peoples of Europe.”


According to the KKE, the European Union is seeking to strengthen the position of its monopolies amid intensifying competition with the United States and China for supremacy in the global capitalist economy.

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) strongly condemns release of Golden Dawn neo-Nazi Kasidiaris

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has strongly condemned the release from prison of Ilias Kasidiaris, a former leading member of the Nazi criminal organization Golden Dawn, describing the decision as a “provocation” against the organization’s victims, their families and the working people who fought for its conviction.

Kasidiaris’ release follows that of almost the entire former leadership of Golden Dawn, which was convicted in 2020 of operating as a criminal organization.

KKE: Veteran cadre Spyros Chalvatzis passes away

Spyros Chalvatzis, a veteran cadre of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and a prominent figure of the communist and popular movement, has passed away, 902 portal reports. Chalvatzis devoted decades of his life to the organized struggle through the ranks of the KKE, assuming important responsibilities in the Party. 
 
He served as a member of the Political Bureau of the KKE Central Committee and was also elected to the Greek Parliament, where he served as the Party’s parliamentary representative.

KKE General Secretary: The alternative is workers’ power, not another capitalist government

The strengthening of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in the next parliamentary elections would mark “a step forward for the people,” KKE General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas stressed on Thursday during a major political event in Thessaloniki, held in the framework of the city's International Fair (TIF). 
 
His speech focused on current political developments, the Mitsotakis government’s economic policy and the KKE’s political proposal.

KKE on AfD surge in Germany: Capitalist exploitation and imperialist rivalries fuel the far-right

Following the regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt, where the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) won a historic victory with nearly 44% of the vote, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses that the rise of reactionary populism cannot be separated from capitalist exploitation, imperialist rivalries and the weakening of the class-oriented labour and communist movement.

KKE slams Greece-Israel “Achilles Shield” deal, warns of deeper involvement in imperialist wars

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has strongly condemned the Greece-Israel agreement on the so-called “Achilles Shield,” warning that it represents yet another dangerous step in accelerating war preparations and dragging Greece and its people deeper into imperialist wars and US-NATO plans in the region.

In a statement, the KKE stressed that the New Democracy government is attempting to conceal the real character of the agreement behind claims about an “architecture for the protection of Greek territory” and the country’s defense.

KKE strongly condemns Israel's settlement plans in the occupied West Bank

In a statement, the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns the settlement plans of the state of Israel in the occupied territories of West Bank. 

“At a time when the ruthless occupying state of Israel, backed by the US and the EU, is continuing its deadly attacks and threats in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Syria and the broader region, and as the US - Israel war against Iran is escalating, a highly dangerous series of settlement activities in the Palestinian West Bank is being resumed.

Communist and workers’ parties against imperialist wars: The workers’-people’s struggle will grow stronger with an independent line, away from all bourgeois and imperialist plans. 

With this Resolution, on the occasion of the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties in Havana from 7 to 9 August 2026,  we express our solidarity with Cuba and its people, we honour the memory and historic contribution of Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz, leader of the Communist Party of Cuba and of the Cuban Revolution, on the centenary of his birth commemorated this year.

KKE highlights Fidel Castro's revolutionary and internationalist legacy at Havana Colloquium

The First International Colloquium “Fidel: Legacy and Future” is underway in Havana, bringing together around 1,500 participants from across the world in the run-up to the centenary of the birth of Fidel Castro Ruz on August 13. 
 
The four-day gathering, held from August 10 to 13 at Havana’s Convention Palace, is devoted not simply to commemorating the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, but to examining the continuing relevance of his revolutionary thought and action in the struggles against imperialism, exploitation and capitalist barbarism.

KKE Europarliament Group denounces EU and Spanish Government over deadly Ceuta migrant crackdown

The European Parliamentary Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has denounced the responsibility of the European Union and Spain’s social-democratic government for the latest deadly events in Ceuta, where 99 refugees and migrants were reported dead and dozens more missing, accusing the EU of turning repression, pushbacks and the denial of asylum into pillars of its migration policy.

KKE MEP Kostas Papadakis raised the issue in a question submitted to the European Commission, highlighting the responsibility of both the Sánchez government and the EU institutions for yet another tragedy involving people uprooted by imperialist interventions, poverty and exploitation.

The 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties (IMCWP) began in Havana on Friday and will conclude on Sunday (7–9 August). This year’s Meeting, hosted by the Communist Party of Cuba, is being held under the theme: “We defend and honor the legacy of the Cuban Revolution on the centenary of Fidel’s birth, deepen solidarity with socialist Cuba, strengthen our joint actions and unite our forces for peace and against imperialist aggression".

Wildfires in Greece and Spain: KKE and PCTE hold bourgeois governments responsible

As devastating wildfires continue to ravage Southern Europe, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) have sharply condemned their respective bourgeois governments, arguing that the repeated destruction is not merely the result of extreme weather conditions but of policies that systematically leave public fire protection services understaffed, underfunded and unprepared.

KKE demands immediate withdrawal of Greek Patriot missile battery and its personnel from Saudi Arabia

On Saturday, 25 July, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a following statement condemning the reported involvement of a Greek Patriot missile battery in military operations in the Middle East. 
 
Among others, the Communist Party calls for the immediate withdrawal of all Greek military personnel and assets from overseas missions.

"The 52nd anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus—this imperialist crime against the Cypriot people, whose scars remain visible to this day—serves as a reminder of what imperialist plans and their murderous alliances, such as NATO, truly mean for the peoples.

Syrian Communist Party honors the memory of its long-time leader Ammar Bakdash

On the first anniversary of the death (13 July 2025) of communist internationalist leader Ammar Bakdash, General Secretary of the Syrian Communist Party, the Party held a commemorative event abroad to honor his memory, the 902 portal reported

Addressing the event, Khaled Bakdash, member of the Central Committee and son of Ammar Bakdash, stated among other things: "To me, he was a father. But before and beyond that, he was a comrade who taught me—through his actions before his words—that communism is not merely a political affiliation, but a moral and human commitment to the workers, the peasants and all working people, to everyone who suffers injustice and exploitation."

KKE's contribution at the International Meeting against NATO in Istanbul

A delegation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), comprising Yannis Protoulis, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the KKE, and Aris Evangelidis, member of the Central Committee of the KKE, visited Istanbul, where, an International Meeting of Communist Parties from NATO member states was held on Saturday, 4 July. 
 
The meeting was organized by the Communist Party of Turkey ahead of the imperialist alliance’s summit in Ankara.
