Communist Party of Sweden: 30 years of revolutionary continuity

Thirty years ago, on 4–5 November 1995, Sweden’s communists took a decisive step that reaffirmed the revolutionary continuity of the workers’ movement in the country.

On those dates, the Party reclaimed the historic and principled name Communist Party of Sweden (Sveriges Kommunistiska Parti SKP) — a name long associated with the struggle for socialism and with the political force that represents the interests of the working class.

Aleka Papariga, the KKE and the defense of Marxism-Leninism

By Nikos Mottas

Aleka Papariga, the former long-time leader (1991-2013) of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), celebrates her 80th birthday as a militant whose personal biography has become inseparable from the continuity of a KKE that has refused every form of retreat, compromise, and incorporation into the system of exploitation. Her political life reflects not only the history of the KKE but also its strategic persistence amid some of the most difficult decades for communists worldwide.

Why Has TKP Become the “Object of Hatred” of the Turkish Left?

For readers who are not deeply familiar with the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) or Turkish politics, the title may sound exaggerated. Yet, within a realistic framework, it accurately reflects the dynamics we aim to explore here. Around the world, traditional communist parties have often faced political and ideological hostility from within the left itself. Understanding how this phenomenon has unfolded in Turkey requires looking closely at the origins and historical assertion of TKP.

EU backs Czech Republic’s anti-communist crackdown — KKE exposes hypocrisy

A new escalation of the anti-communist offensive in the European Union is underway, this time with the Czech government preparing an operation to further criminalize the dissemination, support and defense of communist ideology — and the EU proving yet again its hypocrisy and tolerance for such reactionary measures.

The alarming developments were raised in the European Parliament by Kostas Papadakis, MEP of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), who exposed the Czech authorities’ plan to equate communist ideas with so-called “totalitarianism” and to apply harsh criminal sanctions.

Venezuela Case: Oil, Capital, and Class Struggle

By Nathan Richardson*

Examining how control over oil resources fuels imperialist ambitions and what a socialist perspective offers as an alternative

Venezuela stands once again at the crossroads of imperialist aggression and national resistance. Its oil-rich soil − potentially a foundation of social progress and independence − remains the object of fierce contest between foreign capital, domestic oligarchs, and bureaucratic interests.

Cypriot Communists warn against “illusions” following Erhürman’s election in occupied northern Cyprus

The Communist Initiative of Cyprus (Κομμουνιστική Πρωτοβουλία Κύπρου /Kıbrıs Komünist İnisiyatifi) has issued a statement responding to the election of Tufan Erhürman as the new leader in the occupied north, warning that his victory should not be seen as a step toward resolving the Cyprus problem or ending the island’s division.

While many analysts have described Erhürman’s election as an opportunity to restart peace talks, the Communist Initiative describes such expectations as “diplomatic” rather than substantive.

We must defend Venezuela’s sovereignty against U.S Imperialism — But not excuse Maduro’s government

By Nikos Mottas

The renewed U.S. aggression against Venezuela cannot be understood in isolation. It is not simply an episode of Washington’s unilateral hostility against a disobedient government. Rather, it is part of the broader inter-imperialist struggle that defines our epoch — a world order increasingly marked by the fierce rivalry between the U.S.-led imperialist bloc and the rising powers of Russia and China. Venezuela, with its vast oil reserves and strategic position in Latin America, has become a focal point in this global contest for domination, resources, and influence.
