Istanbul's new airport: Galley-slave labour conditions and occupational murders for sultan Erdogan's sake!

According to interesting reports by soL international, construction workers held a protest on February 1 at Istanbul’s third airport project site, showing the reaction against the poor working conditions and non-payments.

Around 1500 thousands of workers protested the working conditions, as their working hours were extended so as to finish the airport project that is still under construction. The workers closed the road to traffic while protesting the project owners.

The protestor workers say their shuttle services are inadequate and the food service is so poor that they have to sleep hungry since their work shifts and shuttle hours are irregular.

Kemal Okuyan- Don’t you understand the difference between patriotism and nationalism?

Kemal Okuyan, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and soL columnist, wrote an article on January 30 regarding the differences between patriotism and nationalism with reference to a famous patriotic Soviet song, 'Song of the Motherland', some lyrics of which were removed after the collapse of the Soviet Union in order to ignore the song's references to the equality of all people under socialism.

Don’t you understand the difference between patriotism and nationalism?

It was 1936. Racism and fascism were rising in Europe. Italy, Germany and Austria surrendered. The fascists declared a "holy war" against the republicans in Spain. Nationalism was polluting everywhere. Discrimination against the black people reached the highest level.

J.V.Stalin- The International Character of the October Revolution (Speech on the 10th Anniversary of the October Revolution)

Speech by Joseph Stalin on the occasion of the Tenth Anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution; Pravda, November 6-7, 1927.

Source: J.V.Stalin, Works, Foreign Languages Publishing House,
    Moscow, 1954, Vol.10, pp. 244-55.

The October Revolution cannot be regarded merely as a revolution "within national bounds." It is, primarily, a revolution of an international, world order, for it signifies a radical turn in the world history of mankind, a turn from the old, capitalist world to the new, socialist world.

Homeless in Dublin: The Communist Party of Ireland says "we need homes, not prison cells"

Dublin City Council is considering using a section of the Mountjoy prison campus to help deal with the capital's homeless problem. The Department of Justice has offered the training unit of Dublin's largest prison to the local authority, which is now considering it to house homeless people. The training unit is separated from the main section of the jail and was closed earlier this year.
At the time of its closure the unit had a capacity of 96 beds. Independent councillor Mannix Flynn said the council was considering using the facility to alleviate the city's current homelessness crisis. [...] The latest figures show there are 8,500 people without a home, 3,500 of whom are children, but there are fears the number could increase as the country heads into Christmas week, as the figures were compiled in October.

    Source: Telesur / UNHCR Report.

"Today's United States has proved itself exceptional in ways shockingly at odds with its immense wealth and its founding commitment to human rights," the United Nations reports.

The United States – one of the world's richest and most powerful countries – is being transformed by President Donald Trump and his Republican Congress into the "world champion of inequality," according to a scathing new report by the United Nations' monitor on extreme poverty and human rights.

Greece: Everyone in the strike of December 14th - Le 14 décembre tous à la grève partout!

All in the strike rallies in all cities! We fight back!
Let’s give a militant response to the new measures of impoverishment of the working people!
The positive climate that the government of SYRIZA - ANEL is trying to cultivate all along this time through the tale of the “just development” does not contain anything positive for the working people, since a new wave of anti-popular measures is being planned. The "just development" that the government promotes and defends, means further assault on the life of the working-people family with further abolition of rights and advances.

General Strike on December 14th in Greece - Workers to give a powerful response to SYRIZA government

Last week in Greece, the working class witnessed a series of incidents that showed a strong escalation of state oppression and employers' intimidations against workers
The workers of supermarkets in Ioannina, the students and the workers of the Universities, outside the Ministry of Education, but also the protesters in the courts against the banks auctioning off peoples’ homes, were not the first to suffer persecutions, arrests, violent repression and tear gas.
The over 18 months unpaid workers of the super markets of Ioannina who struggle for their right to work and their salaries, the students who in the year 2017 literally demand a decent meal and the workers who protect their homes, were within a few hours targeted by the SYRIZA-ANEL government.

PAME: The anti-workers attack across Europe is unified, lasting and continuous

On the occasion of the visit of French President Macron to Greece, PAME issued the following statement:
The “growth” of the profits of business groups, the competitiveness of capital requires the attack on workers’ rights and gains.
Therefore, irrespective of the country and the political label of each government, European Union and the political parties of the capital promote anti-workers’ reforms that target to reduce wages, pensions etc., and at the same time to put obstacles (if not to totally ban) in the Collective Action and Demands of Workers, in the trade union rights and freedoms of the working class.
Either with memorandums or without, the antiworkers’ attack across Europe is unified, lasting and continuous.

Hurricane "Harvey": Another capitalist crime against the people

The hurricane and tropical storm “Harvey” in Texas revealed the misery and disaster that capitalist “development” spreads at the expense of public security and people's interests. The same, even in a larger scale, had happened 12 years ago with hurricane “Katrina” in the states of Luisianna and Mississippi. In both cases, the heaviest price of the disaster was paid by the poor strata of these states, the working class and immigrants.

The record rainfall and floods, the “extreme natural phenomena”, cannot explain by themselves alone the scale of the destruction. The real cause behind the disaster in Texas is the policy which, in order to maximize business profits, destroys natural envirnoment, creates anarchy in construction, builds huge factories, industries, shopping centers without any fundamental security plan.

Makis Papadopoulos (KKE) - Real and Fake Enemies of Fascism

Real and Fake Enemies of Fascism.
    By Makis Papadopoulos*.
Article originally published in the Greek newspaper "Alithines Eidiseis", republished on 902.gr / Translation:  In Defense of Communism.

The deepest objective of the EU's provocative anticommunist campaign is to persuade the peoples that there is no way out from the current swamp of the capitalist system, exploitation, insecurity, unemployment.

History has irrevocably illuminated that the capitalist system gives birth to fascism stream and uses it multiformally in order to strengthen the dictatorship of the capital.

TRUTH AND LIES ABOUT SOCIALISM - Dictatorship of the Proletariat: A Higher form of Democracy

    TRUTH AND LIES ABOUT SOCIALISM:
    ON THE SOCIALIST POWER.
Central Council of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE).
    Published by Synchroni Epochi, 2013.

PART II: THE DICTATORSHIP OF THE PROLETARIAT: A HIGHER FORM OF DEMOCRACY.

The leap that takes place during the socialist construction, i.e. during the transition from capitalism to communism, is qualitatively higher than any previous one, since communist relations, as non-exploitative, cannot be formed in capitalism. The political revolution is the precondition for these new relations to be imposed and dominate, i.e. the conquest of power by the working class and the establishment of its own state, the dictatorship of the proletariat.

This is a basic difference in the transition to the communist socioeconomic formation in relation with the previous. In the framework of the transition from an exploitative socioeconomic formation to another, the new relations could be developed and dominate first in the confines of the previous socioeconomic formation and then, as the last part of this process, the class that was the bearer of the new relations struggled for and took power. This happened for example in relation to capitalism.
