An interesting symposium on Socialist future and planning began on Friday 6th December in Ankara, after an initiative by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP).

The meeting takes place under the auspice of the "Academy of Science and Enlightment" at the premises of the Middle East Technical University (METU), with more than 300 scholars, university students and workers attending the event.

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkey, Kemal Okuyan, was among the speakers of the first day. Okuyan pointed out that the only goal of scientific work in capitalism is the maximalization of profits, because its organization is in the hands of monopolies. In socialism, he said, the organization of scientific work will be transformed into a large network of all the working people.

Kemal Okuyan underlined the differences between science in capitalism and science in socialism, stressing out that a responsibility of the Communist Party is to study the theoretical issues on time, without transferring the discussion for the socialist construction for the post-revolution period.

As 902 portal reports, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) was represented at the symposium by the member of the Political Bureau Makis Papadopoulos and Nikos Seretakis, member of the International Relations Department of the KKE.

In his speech, Papadopoulos delivered the "warm, militant and comradely greetings of the CC of the KKE" and congratulated the organizers of the Symposium.

Among other things, Makis Papadopoulos refered to the contemporary political situation, pointing out: "The rich historical experience proves that the sharpening of the contradictions between imperialist centers can only bring disasters for the people. The people have nothing to divide. They must target their common opponent, NATO, the EU and more generally the competitions of the bourgeois classes which threaten peace in the region."

The member of the Political Bureau of the KKE also said: "TKP and KKE are playing a leading role today in the struggle against the plans of a new imperialist war, as well as against the plans of enforcing new agreements of imperialist peace which will be imposed upon the people with "a gun to their heads"".

Papadopoulos stressed out that a common point of the communists' struggle in both Greece and Turkey is the fight against the utilization of people's discontent by bourgeois parties, especially social democratic ones.

"We are marching together having trust in the power of the working class and the superiority of marxism-leninism. The developments of the 21st century will confirm that our future isn't capitalism but it is the new world, socialism", said Makis Papadopoulos at the end of his speech.
