World Peace Council: Message of solidarity and anti-imperialism from Damascus

A powerful message of solidarity towards the Syrian people and the people who fight against imperialist aggression was delivered by the World Peace Council Executive Committee Meeting which was held in Damascus on October 27-28th. 

The capital city of Syria also hosted the International Conference in Solidarity with the Syrian People and Youth on October 30th.

In a statement published on 902 portal, the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), denounces the dangerous escalation of repression, under the responsibility of the Turkish government, which attempts to criminalize every opposition voice, criticism or challenge of Turkey's imperialist military intervention on the territory of Syria, namely in Afrin.

KKE expresses "deep concern" over the escalation of imperialist showdown in Syria

In a statement issued today, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) expresses the Party's concern over the dangerous developments and the escalation of imperialist confrontation in the region of Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. 

More specifically, the KKE "expressses its deep concern for the developments in Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East where military esclation is intensified, within the framework of the confrontation of USA-NATO and EU with Russia for Syria and the control of the province of Idlib (stronghold of Jihadists), with the participation of other powers too, like Israel, Turkey and Iran".

John McCain: An imperialist warmonger and Nazi-collaborator

The notorious war hawk U.S. Senator and former Presidential candidate John McCain has died. The bourgeois political system in the United States and the corporate mass media have already started their campaign to whitewash McCain, presenting him as a “hero” and a “patriot”.

Communist Youth Organizations denounce Greek government's repression and violence against protesting anti-war students

Message of solidarity by Communist Youth Organizations from all over the world, condemning the recent orgy of violence and repression by the Greek authorities against protesting anti-war, anti-imperialist students:

We denounce the violence, repression and the arrests of university students during the antiwar – anti-imperialist demonstration in Athens on April 16th.

We denounce the Greek government of SYRIZA-ANEL for the orgy of violence and repression launched against the high school and university students that were demonstrating against the new imperialist crime in Syria. The pretext for this barbaric attack against the protestors was their effort to symbolically demolish the statue of Harry Truman.

"British imperialists out of Cyprus": Militant demonstration by the KKE at Akrotiri

A militant demonstration organised by the Cyprus Party Organisation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) was held on Sunday outside the British RAF base at Akrotiri, from where airstrikes were launched against Syria. 

Carrying placards with slogans "NATO Killers Go Home" and KKE flags, the protesters called the working people of Cyprus to "assert their opposition to the facilitations given to the British butchers who are bombing the Syrian people. The British bases must be closed down now. Neither soil, nor water to the murderers of the people". Various international media (BBC, Associated Press, Sky News, etc.) reporting from Cyprus referred to the demonstration. 

Tsipras Exposed: How Greece's government participates in the crime against Syria

Just a few hours before the beginning of the new imperialist attack against Syria by the USA, France and Britain, the Greek government announced that it will not participate in the intervention. 

On Saturday, 14th of April, the front page of the daily newspaper "Avgi"- which is politically affiliated with SYRIZA- was writing: "Alexis Tsipras said to Macron about Syria: We do not participate in a possible intervention". The report of the newspaper was writing among other things: "In a phone call with the President of France, the Prime Minister condemned the use of chemical weapons and demanded decisive initiatives by the EU. He pointed out that efforts must be made for a peaceful solutiuon, based on the swedish proposal at the UN and he emphatically ruled out the participation of Greek Armed Forces in a possible military mission".

Cuba strongly condemns the imperialist attack against Syria (English / Español)

The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba expresses its strongest condemnation of the new attack by the United States and some of its allies against military and civilian facilities in the Syrian Arab Republic on the evening of this April 13th, under the pretext of the alleged use of chemical weapons against civilians by the Syrian Government.

This unilateral action, outside the United Nations Security Council, is a flagrant violation of the principles of International Law and the UN Charter and an outrage against a sovereign State, which exacerbates the conflict in that country and region.

Communist and Workers' Parties across the world have reacted to the imperialist attack on Syria, strongly condemning the US-Britain-France intervention (to be updated):

Kemal Okuyan on imperialist aggression in Syria : "What you are watching is porn"

Greek working class movement stands by the side of the Syrian workers and people

Faced with the escalation of the situation, following the aggressive statements of Trump and the concentration of new military forces in the region, the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) communicated on Thursday, April 12, 2018 with the GFTU Syria, where it expressed Solidarity of the class trade union movement of Greece to the people and workers of Syria.

PAME informed the GFTU Syria of the clear opposition of the Greek class movement to the plans of imperialist organizations. Both trade unions confirmed the ties of friendship and solidarity between workers in the two countries and the need for a common front of workers against imperialism.

Joint Statement: 28 Communist and Workers Parties condemn the imperialist aggression against Syria

In a joint statement, 28 Communist and Workers Parties from Europe condemn the escalation of the imperialist aggression against Syria. More specifically, the statement writes:

"The Communist and Workers Parties of Europe condemn the escalation of the imperialist aggression, the sharpening of the situation in Syria and the broader region after today's intervention of the US President Donald Trump on bombing Syria under the pretext of the use of chemical weapons, something that the USA have repeatedly done in the past. In a statement regardiing the military preparations for an attack against Syria, the Press Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece issued the following statement:

"The warfare preparations of an intervention in Syria, from the side of the USA, Britain, France, etc, have no relation with the pretexts that they invoke once more, like so many times in the past.

Party of Communists, USA: Condemns U.S. government's hostile policy against Russia

PCUSA STATEMENT ON U.S HOSTILITIES AGAINST RUSSIA.

The Party of Communists USA (PCUSA) condemns militarist efforts to isolate and harass Russia. U.S. imperialism continues to ramp up its hostility to Russia, to a point where, informed observers believe the U.S. and Russia are closer to war now more than since the overthrow of socialism in the U.S.S.R. in the early Nineties. Some even assess the hostilities to be greater than at any time since the end of World War II. The hysterical accusations grow wilder each time: Russia is accused of having shot down a Malaysian passenger jet, duped U.S. voters into electing Donald Trump, and poisoned an ex-spy, all without evidence. 

Anticommunist delirium by Erdogan: He labeled anti-war students as "terrorists"

In a delirium full of anticommunism, nationalism and hate, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan lambasted anti-war students at Bogaziçi University who protested other students for commemorating soldiers killed in a military operation in Syria. Spreading more nationalist poison, Erdogan promised to clean “communist and terrorist students” out of universities, the Cumhuriyet daily has reported.

On March 19 a group of students who disagree with the Turkish government's offensive war in Syria protested a ceremony set in memory of soldiers killed during the military operation in Afrin, Syria. Police identified 17 students and detained five of them, while 12 are being sought.

Communist Party of Greece: Statement about the capture of Afrin by Turkish forces

Regarding the developments in northern Syria and the capture of Afrin city by Turkish military forces, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE issued the following statement:

"The capture of Afrin city in northern Syria is another dangerous link in the chain of imperialist competitions and Turkey's aggressiveness, which with already two military operations and the utilization of mercenaries of the "Free Syrian Army" occupies syrian territory and promotes plan of the country's partition.

The World Peace Council visits Damascus, expresses solidarity with the Syrian people

The World Peace Council delegation's visit to Damascus, Syria, was completed successfully from 1 to 5 March. At the invitation of the Syrian National Peace Council (member of the WPC Secretariat), a delegation composed of Iraklis Tsavdaridis, Executive Secretary of the WPC and Akel Takaz and Jamil Safieh, chairpersons of the Peace and Solidarity Committees of Palestine and Lebanon respectively, visited Damascus for meetings with political and social organizations of the country and the people who are facing seven years the imperialist interventions as a ground for the tough competition of imperialists and their allies, with dozens of armed extremist religious groups.

Joke of the year: Erdogan will receive a.... "peace award"!

This could be, without doubt, the best joke of the year. According to a soL international report, the International Pediatric Association (IPA) announced on March 11 that it would give the ‘International Peace Award’ to Turkey’s warmongering President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for helping refugee children! 

The award came after the IPA officials visited the refugee camps in Turkey. Announcing the IPA decision, Kerem Hasanoğlu, the head of the association’s external relations department, said that the association decided to award Erdoğan for his government’s role in the services regarding the refugee children.
