In a statement (here in Greek) concerning the escalation of war in the Middle East, following Iran's missile and drone attack against Israel, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) stresses out:
"Iran's expected attack on Israel, in retaliation for the Israeli state's criminal attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, which resulted to dead Iranian officials, constitutes a dangerous escalation of the war in the Middle East that could reach terrifying dimensions in case of an attack by Israel and its allies against Iran.
The KKE had warned from the first moment that the Israeli occupation and genocide against the Palestinian people, with the support of the USA, NATO and the EU, the Israeli attacks in Syria and Lebanon, as well as the imperialist rivalries in the Red Sea, in presence of Euro-Atlantic military forces and the participation of Greece, set the conditions for the generalization of the war thus opening the "gates of hell". The people of the region, together with the Greek people, are in the midst of great dangers.
Greece, with the responsibility of the ND government and the complicity of SYRIZA, PASOK and the other parties, is up to its neck in two simultaneous imperialist wars, in the Middle East and Ukraine, with painful consequences.
The popular demand towards the ND government to immediately withdraw its support for the murderous state of Israel and to disengage our country from the imperialist wars, to close the US-NATO bases and infrastructures, for the return of "Hydra" frigate" from the EU's Operation ASPIDES in the Red Sea, must be strengthened.
The people should not accept to become "cannon fodder" for the imperialists, for the interests of the Greek bourgeoisie, to decisively condemn the ND government and the NATO, Euro-Atlantic parties, to give strength to the KKE which consistently fights to live the peoples peacefully, shaking off the capitalist brutality that breeds wars, poverty and refugees".
