On Wednesday, March 21, the Israeli military court in Offer condemned palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi and her mother in eight months in prison and a fine of $ 1,500 each. Their conviction was based on extortion, "either you plead guilty and you stay jailed for a few months, or you plead innocent and we close your prison for 10 years."
In a statement, the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE)- the youth wing of the KKE- strongly denounces the decision of the Israeli military court. More specifically, the statement reads:
"The decision of the Israeli military court to condemn the Palestinian Ahed Tamimi and her mother in eight months imprisonment and a $1,500 fine each, because they resisted to the israeli occupational forces, constitutes a provocation.
In the face of Tamimi, they condemn the young men and women of Palestine who give a just struggle against Israel-USA-EU in order to have their own homeland. The young people of Palestine stand with pride against the occupational authorities, paying a heavy price of blood by the continuous attacks of the israeli army. Hundreds are the young political prisoners who are struggling fearlessly against the state-murderer of Israel.
Occupation, hunger, terrorism, the horror of imperialist wars, the fire of which burns dangerously from the Middle East to the Aegean Sea and the Balkans, is one more reason that makes necessary the strengthening of the people's solidarity.
We call the young men and women of our country to condemn the barbaric occupation of the palestinian territories by the israeli state and to continue the support to the just struggle of the palestinian people. To strengthen the struggle against the dangerous policy of the SYRIZA-ANEL government which invigorates the political and military co-operation with the Israeli state and to demand the immediate recognition of the palestinian state on the basis of the decision taken by the Greek Parliament on December 2015. The people and youth's struggle against imperialist wars and the USA-NATO-EU plans in the region overall must be strengthened.
If the murderers of the people think that through prisons and repression they will suppress the people's resistance, they are mistaken.
Freedom to Palestine - Freedome to Ahed Tamimi!"
