The Communist Party of Sweden (SKP) says it has achieved its best result in a parliamentary election so far this century, according to preliminary figures from Sweden’s 2026 general election.
As Riktpunkt reports, with just over 60 percent of electoral districts counted, the SKP had already surpassed its 2022 result, which had fallen only one vote short of the party’s previous best parliamentary performance of the 2000s, recorded in 2002. The party said the final tally was still pending, but that the upward trend was already clear.

In a separate post-election statement, the SKP thanked members and supporters who had worked throughout the campaign, noting that its ballots had been available at more polling stations than in previous elections and that the party had run what it described as a stronger campaign than before.
The SKP stressed, however, that it sees elections as only one arena of political struggle. Regardless of the composition of Sweden’s next government, the party argued, the capitalist system itself remains unchanged. It therefore called on those who had supported the communist ticket to become more actively involved in the party and in broader class struggle after the election.
