During a meeting with a delegation of the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (Central de Trabajadores de Cuba - CTC) today in Athens, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas denounced the unacceptable long-standing blockade of Cuba by the U.S imperialism and demanded its immediate ending.
Secretary Koutsoumbas also referred to the constant internationalist solidarity of the KKE towards the Communist Party and the people of Cuba.
The meeting was held at the KKE headquarters within the framework of CTC delegation's visit in Greece. From the Cuban side it was attended by Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, PCC Politburo member, member of the Cuban State Council, Vice President of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), Ismael Drullet Perez, member of the CTC Secretariat and member of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Ambassador of Cuba Aramis Fuente Hernandez. The KKE delegation included Giorgos Marinos and Giannis Protoulis, both members of the Political Bureau, as well as Nikos Mavrokefalos, member of the Central Committee and of the Secretariat of PAME.
Among others, the General Secretary of the KKE informed the Cuban delegation for the positions and the struggle of the Party against the anti-people policy, including the recent successful nationwide strike. He presented the KKE's position on the imperialist war in Ukraine and Greece's involvement, the struggle against the US-NATO-EU and their military bases in the country.
The CTC delegation was welcomed yesterday upon arrival at the Athens' International Airport by members of PAME and Trade Unions.
