Greek soldiers detained in Turkey: KKE MEP asks for their immediate release

In his intervention at the plenary of the European Parliament, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) MEP Sotiris Zarianopoulos asked for the immediate and without preconditions release and repatriation of the two Greek Army officers who have been detained in Edirne, Turkey since 2 March 2018.

More specifically, he pointed out:

"The continuous for 47 days unacceptable detention of the two Greek army officers by the Turkish authorities consist part of the moves that signify an escalation of the aggressiveness of the Turkish bourgeois class against Greece's sovereign rights, questioning the borders and international treaties which safeguard them.

[It is] an aggressiveness which is related to the competitions of the bourgeois classes for their own interests, turns against the people, consists part of broader competitions which escalate, as it was proved by the two day's ago military attack in Syria by the USA, France, Britain with the support from NATO and the EU which with military interventions change borders and bleed the people.

The position of the SYRIZA-ANEL government, and of the other bourgeois parties, is dangerous because they entrust Greece's defense on NATO- which "washes its hands" for the situation in the Aegean as well as for the two officers- and the EU which also encourages the provocations of the Turkish bourgeois class by making bazaars with her.

Immediate and without preconditions, the two Greek army officers must be released and repatriated".
