In a message addressed to the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) salutes the 61st anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
In the message, which was published yesterday in 'Rizospastis', the KKE points out that "the Cuban Revolution, the first socialist revolution in the american continent, was one of the greatest events that marked the 20th century, inspired the struggle of the suppressed and exploited ones in the whole world and proved that the people, with their struggle, have the power to overthrow capitalist barbarity".
The Communist Party stresses out that the Cuban Revolution "confirmed the vitality of Marxism-Leninism and proletarian internationalism. It added to the pantheon of the working class fighters and revolutionary movement, personalities like Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos, Vilma Espin, Frank Pais and others".
The KKE message writes that "the workers' power succeed to victoriously repel the counterrevolutionary attempts and imperialist aggression and set the foundations for the satisfaction of the people's needs” while it adds that revolutionary Cuba “supported with altruism and sacrifices the national liberation movements of the people”.
“Today that the Trump government escalates the barbaric measures of the blockade against Cuba and the aggression against the people of Latin America, it is an immediate need to strengthen internationalist solidarity towards the struggle of the region's peoples and especially towards the Cuban Revolution and the people of Cuba”.
The statement reiterates that “KKE and KNE will continue, with all their powers, to condemn the criminal imperialist blockade of Cuba by the USA and every subversive action of the EU, strengthening even more the actual internationalist solidarity to Cuba”.
The message end with the following lines: “In a period that is marked by the heavy consequences of the counterrevolution and the overthrow of socialism in the USSR and other countries and the communist movement continues to face serious difficulties, being under heavy pressure by the bourgeoisie and opportunism, the Cuban Revolution is one of the milestones for the defence of History and the contribution of the communist movement, for the decisive confrontation of anti-communism and the strengthening of proletarian internationalism, invigorating the struggle for socialism in every country”.
