The Communist Party of Sweden (Sveriges Kommunistiska Parti—SKP) is intensifying its preparations for Sweden’s parliamentary, regional and municipal elections on 13 September 2026, presenting its candidacy as the only consistent alternative to the parties administering capitalism. Early voting begins on 26 August.
The election campaign was formally launched with a nationwide digital meeting on 7 June, attended by party members and sympathisers.

The SKP presented its election logo, posters and leaflets, alongside plans to use its newspaper Riktpunkt, its digital platforms and social media as instruments for reaching workers and strengthening communist organisation. Party chairman Andreas Sörensen stressed that the purpose of the campaign is not merely to collect votes, but to mobilise members and supporters, expand the Party’s influence and build the communist movement.
Preparations are now advancing across the country. At the Party’s premises in Stockholm and Malmö—and in the homes of members and sympathisers—ballot papers are being sorted and packaged, leaflets dispatched, posters mounted and banners prepared for the final stage of the campaign. Supporters have also volunteered to distribute material and ensure that communist ballot papers reach early-voting centres and polling stations in numerous municipalities.
Communists have already taken the campaign directly to the people. In Malmö, SKP members have distributed large quantities of election material and held political discussions with workers and young people on unemployment, public services and the wider problems facing the working class. The Party reports growing interest as the elections approach and is calling on sympathisers throughout Sweden to take an active part.
The SKP rejects the false choice offered by Sweden’s parliamentary blocs. Against the parties defending capitalist power, militarisation, repression and social inequality, the communists are calling for an independent class vote—and, above all, for the organisation of the working class in the struggle for socialism.
