Pavel Blanco: Mexico's social democratic governments have yielded to U.S pressure

War against Iran: Trump's whim or a link in the strategy of US imperialism?

The critical developments in the Persian Gulf region, marked by the US and Israeli military attack against Iran , which began on February 28, cast their shadow over global developments.

Every bourgeois media outlet and analyst has grabbed a “daisy”, trying to guess “will Trump strike again, or will he not strike again”. Such an approach, however, leaves important aspects of imperialist plans far from our attention and cultivates the mistaken perception that the peoples are hostages of a personality (Trump), who may not stand firm in his logic. 

Jordanian communists remain imprisoned after more than 65 days of detention

More than 65 days after their arrest by the Jordanian authorities, cadres of the Jordanian Communist Party remain under detention in a clear case of political persecution and anti-communist repression.

Among those detained are Political Bureau members Dr. Omar Awad and Osama Zain al-Din, along with student activist Bahaa Hisham Ahmad. The Jordanian Communist Party has repeatedly denounced the arrests as arbitrary, unlawful and politically motivated, stressing that the comrades were detained without any legal justification.

The communist-backed student alliance “Panspoudastiki KS”, supported by the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) - youth wing of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), emerged once again as the leading force in the nationwide university student elections held on Wednesday, securing first place for the fifth consecutive year!

Thousands of students across Greece voted for “Panspoudastiki”, strengthening the militant student movement and delivering a clear message against the anti-education policy of the New Democracy government, the commercialization of higher education and the reactionary plans for private universities.

Union of Communists of Ukraine refutes participation in so-called "Anti-Imperialist Conference" in Kenya

Anti-communist crackdown in Azerbaijan: Activists arrested for raising USSR flags

Authorities in Azerbaijan have detained several individuals after they attempted to organize a march in Baku carrying the flags of the Soviet Union and the Azerbaijan SSR, in yet another episode highlighting the intensifying anti-communist climate promoted by the country’s ruling establishment.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, police operations led to the detention of Abdulla Ibrahimli, Ibrahim Asadli and other individuals whose names were not disclosed. 

Communist Party of Britain calls for broad working-class front against far-right surge

On the occasion of the May local election results in England, Scotland and Wales, the Communist Party of Britain (CPB) issued the following statement on 9 May 2026:

KKE General Secretary: The government must not dare send Greek officers and conscripts to the Persian Gulf

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, addressed the mass political rally organized on Wednesday 6 May by the Central Macedonia Organization of the KKE in Thessaloniki, commemorating the workers’ uprising of May 1936.

At that time, the working class of Thessaloniki, led by tobacco workers and guided by the KKE, launched major strikes and demonstrations demanding better living conditions, effectively taking control of the city for two days. 

Communist Party of Turkey calls for mass anti-NATO mobilization ahead of Ankara Summit

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has called for a broad anti-NATO mobilization ahead of the NATO Summit scheduled to take place in Ankara on 7–8 July 2026. 

The party announced a week of political activities and protests between 4 and 12 July, culminating in a major rally on 5 July against NATO, imperialism and Turkey’s deepening involvement in Euro-Atlantic military plans. 

India: Fascists vandalize Lenin's statue in West Bengal

On the night of 5 May, a group of fascists allegedly affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attacked and vandalized Vladimir Lenin's statue in Murshidabad, West Bengal. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) condemned the heinous act and stressed out: "On the night of May 5, in Jiaganj area of Murshidabad district, BJP goons attacked and broke a statue of Lenin. Our comrades immediately responded and filed a police complaint. A demonstration was held, following which five were arrested. This morning, our comrades went to the site again. The statue will be rebuilt on May 8th.  

 

Red Kerala falls: Communist-backed Left Democratic Front suffers historic electoral defeat

The Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), suffered a major electoral defeat in the recent state assembly elections in Kerala, bringing to an end a decade of Left governance in one of India’s most politically advanced and socially progressive states.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) secured a commanding parliamentary majority, winning 102 out of 140 seats, while the CPI(M)-led alliance was reduced to just 35 seats.
