What does Berlin fear? Soviet symbols banned again ahead of 9 May anniversary!

For yet another consecutive year, German authorities in Berlin are imposing restrictions around Soviet war memorials during the anniversary of the Great Anti-Fascist Victory of the Peoples on 9 May, banning Soviet flags and symbols associated with the Red Army that defeated Nazism!

According to an administrative order issued by Berlin police, the restrictions will apply from 8 to 9 May around the Soviet memorials in Treptow, Mitte and Pankow.

Anti-Cuba session at European Parliament turns into fiasco after KKE intervention

Archive Photo
The joint session of the European Parliament’s Committees on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and Human Rights (DROI), convened under the pretext of discussing “the human rights situation in Cuba,” was intended to become yet another parade of opponents and subversive elements hostile to the Cuban people, including the notorious provocateur José Daniel Ferrer, thus providing further justification for imperialist aggression against Cuba.

Communist Party of Venezuela: Delcy Rodríguez’s administration bows to foreign tutelage

The General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), Oscar Figuera, rejected on Monday what he described as a policy of “tutelage” and “external imposition” on Venezuela, while denouncing the government led by Delcy Rodríguez as an administration “subjugated to transnational capital.”

During a press conference, Figuera stated that the current global landscape is marked by stark contrasts between countries resisting the pressures of big capital and those governments that, he said, “submit without resistance.”

Grover Furr: The Fraud of the "Testament of Lenin"

Speech by Professor Grover Furr to the Institute for the Critical Study of the Society (ICSS) of Oakland, California, on his book "The Fraud of the ‘Testament of Lenin" (Erythros Press and Media, 2022). You can watch the video of the discussion here: https://youtu.be/3qkB_EDabMc

I’d like to begin with this short preface. Persons who are, or were, in or around the “Old Left” are usually more or less familiar with the allegations of crimes levelled against Joseph Stalin by anticommunists and Trotskyists. My talk today is directed mainly to you.

140 years since the Haymarket affair in Chicago: The struggle for the eight-hour day

This year marks 140 years since the Haymarket Affair, a pivotal episode in the struggle for the eight-hour working day and the development of the modern labor movement.

In the late 19th century, industrial workers in the United States typically worked 12 to 14 hours a day under demanding and often dangerous conditions. The demand for an eight-hour day gradually became a central objective of organized labor.

KKE condemns Israeli assault on Gaza solidarity flotilla

In a statement issued today, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns “the new piratical attack by the terrorist state of Israel against the international solidarity flotilla for Gaza, which placed the lives of hundreds of people in grave danger.”

The KKE notes that “the Greek government must provide specific answers, as the Israeli assault took place off Crete, in international waters and within Greece’s area of responsibility for search and rescue operations.”

KKE MEPs denounce provocation by EU Commission

It demands the withdrawal of the persistent questions of historical truth raised by the sacrifice of the 200 communist heroes of Kaisariani

The Commission is provocatively demanding the withdrawal of the Question submitted by the KKE’s MEPs. Based on the striking photographic evidence of the 200 communists who stood up face to face with the Nazi monster, the Question exposes the unhistorical nature of the EU’s ideology, which equates communism with the monster of fascism, as well as its undermining and deliberate stance towards the still-unfulfilled demand that German war reparations be paid for the Nazi atrocities in Greece.

When socialist Cuba embraced Chernobyl's children

Thirty years after the Chernobyl disaster, the scale of the catastrophe remains difficult to grasp. Entire regions were contaminated, thousands of lives were disrupted, and the effects of radiation followed people for decades. For many families, the disaster did not end in 1986—it continued in illness, uncertainty and long-term health complications.

In the years that followed, the international response was uneven. Assistance existed, but often moved slowly, tied to political decisions or limited resources. Cuba chose a different course, as Granma recently reminded us

The Role of China in the Imperialist War in Iran

By Nikos Mottas

What is unfolding around Iran is not an isolated war, nor simply another episode of instability in the Middle East. It is part of the ongoing US–Israeli imperialist aggression in the region, which itself unfolds within a broader confrontation between rival imperialist centers.

Within this confrontation, China is not a distant observer or a neutral force. It is a rising capitalist power, deeply involved in the struggle for energy, routes and influence. And increasingly, it is a major strategic rival of the United States.

KKE honors the 200 executed communist heroes of Kaisariani with mass political rally

At the historic site of the Kaisariani Shooting Range, where 200 communists were executed by Nazi occupation forces on May Day 1944, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, delivered a political speech during a mass political-cultural event organized by the Party Organization of Attica on Saturday evening.

The event, held under the theme “Reading the history of the world through small names,” was marked by the recent publication of photographic documents from the execution—images that, as Koutsoumbas stressed, have deeply moved and shaken society.
