KKE MEPs to the European Union: Stop covering Israel’s pirate attacks in international waters

The European Parliamentary Group of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has sent a new letter to the Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, condemning the latest Israeli pirate attack against the solidarity flotilla heading to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid.

The letter by the Party’s MEPs, Kostas Papadakis and Lefteris Nikolaou-Alavanos, reads as follows:

KKE and AKEL condemn new Israeli assault on Gaza solidarity flotilla

On Monday 18 May, Israeli forces intercepted a solidarity flotilla (Global Sumud Flotilla) carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza in waters near Cyprus, triggering strong reactions from political parties in Greece and Cyprus. Both the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and AKEL (Progressive Party of Working People) condemned the operation as a violation of international law and denounced the continuing blockade and military actions against the Palestinian people.

KKE condemns Israeli assault on Gaza solidarity flotilla

In a statement issued today, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns “the new piratical attack by the terrorist state of Israel against the international solidarity flotilla for Gaza, which placed the lives of hundreds of people in grave danger.”

The KKE notes that “the Greek government must provide specific answers, as the Israeli assault took place off Crete, in international waters and within Greece’s area of responsibility for search and rescue operations.”

KKE demands the immediate release of Greek flotilla activists detained by Israeli forces

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) has intensified its actions following the Israeli military’s raid on the Global Sumud Flotilla", a humanitarian mission carrying aid to the besieged people of Gaza. 

Among those detained are 27 Greek activists, including one Greek Parliament member, prompting urgent calls from the party for their immediate release and safe return to Greece.

KKE condemns the assault of the Israeli Army on Global Sumud Flotilla

In a statement  concerning the attack by Israeli armed forces on “Global Sumud Flotilla,” the Press Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) emphasizes the following:

“The KKE condemns the attack by the Israeli armed forces on the flotilla ‘Global Sumud Flotilla,’ among which is the ship ‘Oxygono’ (Oxygen) of the Greek mission, whose aim is to transport humanitarian aid to the blockaded Gaza.
