"The developments in our
region are critical! The murderous state of Israel, with its attack
against Iran and backed by the USA, NATO, and the EU, has lit the fuse
of war, with the danger of escalation across the entire region clearly
visible," said the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the
Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, on Monday.
Furthermore, the General Secretary added:
"The government, having taken on the role of defender of the crimes
committed by Israel and its allies against the tormented people of
Palestine, as well as the peoples of Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen, is
dragging us into dangerous and unpredictable adventures. Now is the
time to end all military cooperation with Israel, to bring back the
frigate from the Red Sea and the Patriot missile battery from Saudi
Arabia, and to shut down all U.S. and NATO bases in our country".
It is reminded that on 22 May, the KKE General Secretary sent a letter to the presidents of the opposition parliamentary groups, thus proposing the drafting of a statement to be addressed to the Greek government, so that, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, it should take relevant initiatives concerning military operations in Gaza, humanitarian channels, the condemnation of Israel's aggression and the recognition of the Palestinian state in the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital city,
