Large pre-election rally of the KKE in Thessaloniki

On Monday 16/05, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, delivered a speech at a mass pre-election political rally in Thessaloniki, the country's second largest city. 

An excerpt from his speech reads as follows:

“During this pre-election period, an optimistic message is emerging from all over Greece: There are many more people, who, with a clearer mind, draw broader conclusions; who understand that what we have experienced, especially in recent years, was not accidental. 

Dimitris Koutsoumbas: The KKE keeps its arms open to progressive people, leftists who refuse to compromise

The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) "keeps its arms open to progressive people, leftists who refuse to compromise" with the systemic 'swamp', Party Secretary General Dimitris Koutsoumbas told "Efimerida ton Syntakton" (Efsyn) newspaper in an interview published on Saturday.

Referring to the May 21 parliamentary elections, he said that "there are many responding to our invitation, and many honest people who have joined our ballots, former deputies, Eurodeputies, and officials and members of SYRIZA, ANTARSYA and LAE," naming the main opposition party and other leftist parties.

Koutsoumbas: Only the strength of the KKE will be the indicator of the people’s strength after the elections

In Ioannina, the capital of the Epirus region, the great political campaign of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE)  continued on 4/5, in order convey the call for the strengthening of the KKE, from the ends of Greece,to every working man and woman and youngster.

As D. Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the KKE Central Committee, noted: “Only the strength of the KKE will be the indicator of the people’s strength after the elections. And the people of Ioannina have every interest in electing a communist MP for the first time in years."

The KKE will not take part in anti-popular government, says Party Secretary Koutsoumbas

What does the term “left” mean today?

The truth is that it is a term that has been abused by many people over time, both in Greece and internationally.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas, Secrétaire Général du CC du Parti Communiste de Grèce (KKE), s'est adressé aux manifestants à Paris, le jeudi 23 mars 2023. 

Koutsoumbas s'est rendu à Paris pour exprimer la solidarité des communistes grecs à la lutte des travailleurs français qui manifestent contre la réforme des retraites du gouvernement Macron. 

Plus tôt dans la journée, le Secrétaire Général a rencontré des grévistes à la Gare Montparnasse qui l'ont accueilli par des applaudissements et des slogans.

Le Secrétaire Général du KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, participera aux manifestations à Paris

Le Secrétaire Général du CC du Parti Communiste de Grèce (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas sera à Paris demain, jeudi 23 mars, où il rencontrera des immigrés grecs et participera aux grandes mobilisations grévistes des syndicats français contre les mesures des Assurances et retraites promu par le gouvernement français.

Selon le portail 902.gr, la délégation du KKE comprend également les membres du Comité central du KKE et les candidats députés Christina Panagiotakopoulou et Giorgos Perros.

D. Koutsoumbas: Statement on the one year since the beginning of NATO-Russia war in Ukraine

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the beginning of the war between NATO and Russia in Ukraine, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, made the following statement (here in Greek):

“After a year of war in Ukraine and the danger of a generalization of the war is more than existing, especially when the conflict between USA and China for the primacy in the imperialist system is clearly projected in the “big picture”. 

KKE expresses full solidarity with the earthquake-hit people of Turkey and Syria

Statement by Dimitris Koutsoumbas, General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), concerning the disastrous earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria:

"We express our full solidarity with the peoples of Turkey and Syria, who currently need urgent and coordinated international aid to rescue the missing persons and provide effective support to the people affected by the earthquake. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and our wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

Mass event of the KKE in Thessaloniki

On Saturday 28/01, the “Palais des Sports” stadium in Thessaloniki was filled with thousands of toiling people of all ages who responded to the invitation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and participated in the mass political-cultural event of the Party Organization of Central Macedonia of the KKE. The speech was delivered by Dimitris Koutsoumbas, GS of the CC of the KKE.

The event highlighted the positive impact of the KKE’s call to the people to turn the page and write their own story, focusing on their needs.

KKE supports the LET CUBA REBUILD urgent appeal

In a statement published today, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas expresses the party's support to the appeal “Let Cuba Rebuild”. More specifically, the statement published in 902 portal, points out:

“I hereby endorse urgent appeal “Let Cuba Rebuild”, addressed to the President of the USA, to suspend the blockade of Cuba for at least 5 months, in order to facilitate the supply of the necessary materials for the reconstruction of the country that was recently stricken by cyclone “Ian”, which caused great destruction. 

100th anniversary of the founding of the USSR: Speech by the KKE General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas

The following speech was delivered by the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas at the teleconference of the European Communist Initiative on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the USSR:

Dear comrades,

The international and domestic developments in the 100 years since the founding of the USSR confirm the necessity to enrich our programmatic conception of socialism, incorporating all the positive and at the same time negative experience from the very course of socialist construction in the 20^th century and drawing useful conclusions from the victory of the counter-revolution, first of all in the USSR.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas: Internationalist solidarity with Cuba, the U.S. blockade must stop

During a meeting with a delegation of the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (Central de Trabajadores de Cuba - CTC) today in Athens, the General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas denounced the unacceptable long-standing blockade of Cuba by the U.S imperialism and demanded its immediate ending. 

 

Secretary Koutsoumbas also referred to the constant internationalist solidarity of the KKE towards the Communist Party and the people of Cuba.

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, proceeded today in a comment concerning the dangerous developments in the imperialist war in Ukraine

The comment of General Secretary Koutsoumbas reads:

“The developments on the front of the imperialist war in Ukraine mark the intensity of the confrontation with incalculable dangers for the peoples. Not only for the people of Ukraine and Russia who are at the center of this conflict, but also for the people of the entire world who are already paying the heavy cost of expensiveness and energy poverty.

The events of the 48th Festival of KNE-Odigitis in Athens were successfully completed on Saturday 24 September. The huge “Antonis Tritsis” Park proved too small to host the tens of thousands of people and youth that participated inthe events. 

 

The Festival culminated with the keynote speech of the GS of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, preceded by an address by the Secretary of the CC of KNE, Nikos Ambatielos.

D. Koutsoumbas: The peoples’ struggle can put an end to the causes of the bloodshed of war

The 48th festival of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) continues with a wide range of political and cultural activities. On Saturday 17/9/22, the GS of the CC of the KKE, Dimitris Koutsoumbas, addressed a speech at the events in Thessaloniki. 

 

In his speech, he highlighted the strategic identification of the parties supporting Euro-Atlanticism and the choices of capital and referred in detail to the struggle of the KKE and its political proposal. He devoted an important part of his speech to international developments and the KKE’s assessments of them,an extensive excerpt of which reads as follows:

Massive internationalist rally of the KKE in Volos sends powerful anti-imperialist message

A large political event, organized by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), took place on Saturday afternoon in the city of Volos. Thousands of KKE members and friends, workers, young men and women, flocked the central promenade of the city, holding banners and flags and shouting anti-imperialist slogans. 

The event marked the culmination of the festivities of the 31st Anti-imperialist Camp of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) which takes place in the seaside village of Nies, Central Greece.

On 8 July 2022, a quadripartite meeting between the CP of Greece, the CP of Mexico, the CP of the Workers of Spain, and the CP of Turkey was held in Athens, at the headquarters of the CC of the KKE. The opening speech of Dimitris Koutsoumbas, GS of the CC of the KKE reads as follows:

We are always happy to welcome the delegates of fraternal Communist Parties at the headquarters of the CC of the KKE. All the more so today, after the pandemic, which had limited our in-person multilateral contact.

Quadripartite meeting of Communist Parties of Greece, Spain, Mexico and Turkey to be held in Athens

A quadripartite meeting between the Communist Parties of Greece (KKE), Workers of Spain (PCTE), Mexico (PCM) and Turkey (TKP) is going to be held on Friday 8 July in Athens. 

The theme of the meeting, which will take place at the KKE Party headquarters in Perissos, is "We strengthen the workers-people's struggle against the imperialist war and capital's attack, for socialism". According to Rizospastis, all the four parties will be represented by their heads. More specifically, the participant comrades are:

The pandemic revealed the bankruptcy of capitalism

On 15/6, the Health–Welfare Section of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) presented its new publication under the title “COVID-19 pandemic: Capitalism in its twilight”. Workers in the Health–Welfare and other sectors, young people, and students flooded the park next to the largest hospital in the country, “Evangelismos”, where the book presentation took place. Among them were many vanguard trade unionists who work in public hospitals and who, for the past two years, under the extremely difficult conditions of the pandemic, have been at the forefront of the struggle to defend people’s health.

On Tuesday 14/6, the MPs of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) demanded the withdrawal of the despicable legislative amendment concerning the sell-off of the large nickel processing enterprise of LARCO. During the debate in the Plenary Session of the Parliament, the KKE MPs conveyed the demands of the workers of LARCO, who, together with thousands of other workers, demonstrated outside the Parliament chanting “Hands off LARCO”. 

The KKE requested a roll-call vote on the amendment. This initiative aimed on the one hand to upset the plans of the government to pass it on the sly and on the other hand to expose those who will vote for this shameful amendment to the people.
