A group of fascists attacked members and supporters of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) who were at the party's offices in Chania, Crete, on Saturday afternoon.

According to "Rizospastis", the party's official newspaper, the attack was organized by individuals who shouted anti-communist slogans and declared their support for the Nazi-criminal organization "Golden Dawn". The reaction of the local organizations of the KKE and the Communist Youth (KNE), as well as residents of the area, was decisive and immediate, isolating the fascists and calling on the police to arrest them.

According to testimonies of KKE members who were attacked, the perpetrators acted in an organized and brutal manner, hitting them on the heads, with the aim of causing as much injury as possible.

The secretary of the local Party organization in Chania, Spyros Agrimakis, who testified in court, stated that this was a planned, organized, anti-communist murderous attack against the KKE. In support of these allegations, evidence was presented proving that the attack was pre-planned and well-organized by a gang of fascist-neo-Nazis targeting communists.

For its part, the court did not recognize the charge of "forming a gang", imposing very light sentences for the perpetrators. Specifically, the members of the fascist group were punished with a redeemable sentence, 18 to 21 months in prison. It is noted that during the transfer of the perpetrators to the Chania Court, hundreds of members and friends of the Communist Party held a protest, demanding the maximum possible conviction of the fascists.
