NATO bases out of Greece: Statement by the KKE calls for nationwide anti-imperialist mobilization

In a statement issued earlier today, the Political Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) calls the working people and the youth "to rise against the policy of the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government which transforms Greece into an endless US-NATO camp". 

"On 22 and 23rd of October we demonstrate in every city where military bases exist or new ones are going to be installed. In all over Greece, the Organisations of the KKE and KNE, through multiform activities, will express the opposition in these plans", writes the statement.

Brazil's communists call for broad electoral democratic front against Bolsonaro

A broad electoral democratic front against the fascist presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro is in the making in Brazil, after the results of the first round and two weeks before the second round on October 28th. 

In the first round, the far-right Bolsonaro received 46% of the votes while the candidate of the social democratic Workers' Party (PT) Fernando Haddad got 29.3%.

In a statement, the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB)- the leader of which, Manuela D'Ávila is Haddad's vice presidential candidate- calls for broad support towards Haddad on the basis of the unity of the left forces. More specifically, the statement of the Communist Party's National Political Commission writes:

KKE event in honor of the 74th anniversary of the liberation of Athens by EAM-ELAS

The Attica Party Organisation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) organizes on Saturday 13 October, at 6 pm, a political event in honor of the 74 years since the liberation of Athens by the ELAS resistance army. 

The event is going to take place at Korais Square and a keynote speech will be delivered by Louiza Razou, member of the Politburo of the CC of the KKE.

Greece: PAME denounces pro-government trade unionism, calls for nationwide strike on November 8th

In a statement the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) denounces the pro-governmental, anti-workers stance of the majority of the Executive Committee of the General Confereration of Greek Workers (GSEE) which, during a meeting on October 8th, rejected the proposal for a General Strike on November 8th. 

According to PAME, the forces of the employer and government-led trade unionism argued that the workers... "must wait for the developments", while they unleashed slanders against PAME. More specifically, among other things, the statement of PAME writes:

After the first round's results in the presidential elections that took place last Sunday in Brazil, the political parties are already preparing the alliances for the second round which is going to be held on October 28th. 

The major contestants are the far-right candidate of the Social Liberal Party under the slogan "Brazil above everything, God above everyone" and, on the other hand, of the candidate of the social democratic Workers' Party (PT) Fernando Haddad. 

Kammenos visits the USA, confirms Greek government's role as a "flag-bearer" of US-NATO imperialism

The Greek Minister of Defense Panos Kammenos is in the United States, having a series of meetings with U.S. government officials, including the U.S. Armed Forces. 

Kammenos' visit consists a follow-up of similar meetings held in New York 10 days ago by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Foreign Minister Kotzias. 

The major characteristic of Kammenos' meetings in Washington DC is the effort of the Greek government to strengthen its role as the "flag-bearer" of US and NATO imperialism in eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans, seeking a deeper involvement in the extremely dangerous inter-imperialist competitions.

Turkish communist leader Kemal Okuyan talks about the economic crisis

Kemal Okuyan, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), elaborated on the ongoing economic crisis for soL news portal. 

Okuyan highlighted that crises are inevitable under capitalism, and that they result in further monopolization as well as the reallocation of funds from toiling masses to capital. 

Emphasizing that expecting the crisis to lead Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan or his AKP government to a political stalemate would be too optimistic, Okuyan pointed out that the political outcomes of the crisis would be determined by the struggle of the working class.

Denmark: Nazi-inspired draft law proposes 12 years imprisonment for criticizing NATO !

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark – literally, not allegorically. 

A new draft bill proposed by the Danish Ministry of Justice tries to put an end to the freedom of speech, especially on issues regarding the murderous, imperialist alliance of NATO. 

According to Arbejderen news portal, the Justice Ministry prepares a law according to which even the sharing of any critical articles or views that "adversely affect the general perception of NATO” will be punishable! In order to obfuscate the threatening - towards free speech- nature of the new law, the draft legislation adds that the sharing of anti-NATO information/views will be punishable "if it is coming from a foreign intelligence service". 

PCUSA officially denounces factionalist and slanderous activity against the Party

In a statement signed by its General Secretary Angelo D’Angelo, the Party of Communists, USA (PCUSA) officially denounces factionalist activity, as well as "grotesque slanders and blatant lies" against it. Read the statement below: 

PCUSA has been under attack in the corporate controlled media

In a statement published on 902 portal, the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), denounces the dangerous escalation of repression, under the responsibility of the Turkish government, which attempts to criminalize every opposition voice, criticism or challenge of Turkey's imperialist military intervention on the territory of Syria, namely in Afrin.

Norway: Anti-NATO demonstration to take place in Trondheim on October 20th

In autumn 2018, Norway will be the host country for NATO's largest military exercise, known as Trident Juncture. 

With 40,000 troops from 30 nations, 140 combat aircraft, 70 ships and 10 000 military vehicles, they will train for war in central Norway - under the command of people who, without shame, bomb remote populations. 

Vietnam's former Communist Party leader Do Muoi dies at 101

Former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Do Muoi, who worked against the French colonial government and became a committed communist, has died at age of 101.

The government said in an announcement posted on its website that Muoi died late on Monday night at the National Military Hospital 108 after battling a serious illness despite efforts by Vietnamese and foreign doctors to treat him.
