Cuba's example shone in Tokyo Olympics with 15 medals

 By Nikos Mottas

The performance of the Cuban athletes who took part in the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo and achieved a total of 15 medals causes admiration and pride.

Leaving behind much larger countries with rich tradition in sports, the small socialist Cuba with a population of 11 million people ranked 14th in the Olympic medal list, winning seven gold, three silver and five bronze medals.

Of course, this is not the first time that Cuba performs great in the Olympics; For many decades, despite the genocidal economic, trade and financial blockade imposed by the United States, the Island of the Revolution has triumphed in multiple Olympiads.

In one of the most promoted boxing duels of the Olympics, the multi-medalist Julio Cesar la Cruz defeated today 4-1 the Spanish nationalized Emmanuel Reyes. With this victory, Cuban boxing secured three podiums in the Tokyo Olympic Games.

At the close of Friday's bout, La Cruz landed punches in the short and medium distance and defended the attacks of Reyes, to merit the verdict of four of the five judges and thus continue on the road to the cruiserweight grand final.  The Cuban team captain will compete in the semifinals against Brazil's Abner Teixeira, who beat Jordan's Eishaish Hussein Iashaish 4-1.

KKE blasts joint statement against Cuba signed by Ministers of Foreign Affairs

In a statement, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) denounces the joint statement against Cuba signed by Foreign Ministers, including that of Greece.

Specifically, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE issued the following statement:

“The KKE denounces the despicable joint statement supporting the criminal plans of US imperialism against Cuba, signed by 21 Foreign Ministers, including the Greek Foreign Minister, N. Dendias. The joint statement, co-signed by the US Secretary of State, as well as the Foreign Ministers of a bloc of reactionary governments, such as of Israel, Brazil, Austria, Poland, Ukraine, the Baltic states, etc., adopts all the provocative pretexts of the Biden administration’s intervention plan against the people and the government of Cuba.

Fidel Castro — Why we don’t need more than one party

Excerpts from speech delivered by Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro, July 26, 1988:

There is one very essential idea, and that is never to forget where we are situated, which is not in the Black Sea, but in the Caribbean, not 90 miles from Odessa, but 90 miles from Miami, with a border on our own land, in an occupied part of our territory, with imperialism. Our people are in charge in our country; and our Party is responsible for its policy, its line, its defense.

KKE: Solidarity with Cuba! Imperialist plans shall not pass!

In a statement about the recent imperialist counterrevolutionary provocation against Cuba, the Press Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out:

"Another imperialist plan against Cuba and its people is ongoing during the past hours. The USA, in cooperation with anti-Cuban mafia operating on its territory as well as forces within Cuba openly supporting their plans, are orchestrating protests in Cuba with anti-communist and anti-revolutionary slogans calling for the overthrow of the government. They also magnify and surround these actions with media hype through their enormous propaganda apparatus. They even call for an imperialist “humanitarian intervention” in Cuba, under the pretext of addressing the difficulties caused by the imperialist US blockade itself!

Nikos Mottas: "Che Guevara, Ambassador of the Revolution"

A new book about communist revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara, written by Nikos Mottas, has been published in Greece under the title "Che Guevara, Ambassador of the Revolution". The book, published by "Atexnos", focuses
to the role of Che as a leader of Cuba's Foreign Policy during the first post-revolutionary years, outlining the Argentinian communist's internationalist activity in world politics.

As a leading member of the Cuban revolutionary government, Ernesto Che Guevara played a major role in the formation of the country's foreign policy during the first post-revolutionary years. One of the tasks he undertook, immediately after the Revolution's triumph, was to establish diplomatic, political and economic relations between Cuba and other countries, mainly of those of the socialist camp.

KKE condemns anti-Cuban maneuver in European Parliament

The MEP of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Lefteris Nikolaou Alavanos intervened in the debate convened in the European Parliament on Cuba, denouncing the anti-Cuban machinations.

In his positive and supportive statement, the Greek communist MEP said: “A known group of reactionary MEPs linked to US interests proposed this fraudulent conversation and a motion on Cuba; and the European Parliament executes on behalf of the EU. The deceptive pretexts of the US, NGOs and their agents related to so-called human rights are a serious provocation and serve to intervene in the internal affairs of Cuba.

The farce of the debate on Cuba in the European Parliament

Brussels, 7 June 2021.  The European Parliament has scheduled for Tuesday 8 June an artificial debate on what it is pleased to call “the political and human rights situation in Cuba”.

If this body indeed decides to discuss Cuba, the debate should clearly center on the massive, flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of the entire Cuban population resulting from the genocidal, immoral and illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by Washington against our country for over 60 years.

Biden follows Trump's criminal policy against Cuba

Five months after the governmental change in the United States and the Biden administration maintains the genocidal economic, financial and trade blockade against Cuba. Despite all challenges, Cuba has produced five vaccines that will soon be used in a mass vaccination of their people.

Apart from the blockade, the Biden administration continues the criminal and shameful policy of its predecessor over the so-called "terrorism-sponsor" accusations against Cuba.

German Communist Party reiterates solidarity towards Cuba

A few days ago, under the pretext of "political rights" and "democracy", the German social democratic party Die Linke adopted a despicable resolution in support of counterrevolutionaties in Cuba.

Contrary to Die Linke, the German Communist Party (DKP) issued a statement clearly reiterating its firm solidarity and support towards Cuba

The statement reads:

"Recently, especially in Germany, there have been more and more statements from the ranks of left forces who think they can make "clever" proposals to the people, the government and the Communist Party in Cuba for a change in Cuba's policy. The Left Party (Die Linke) calls for dialogue with the so-called opposition in Cuba.

Germany's Die Linke party adopts anti-Cuban resolution

A recent decision of the German Die Linke party confirms what is already known: the role of social democracy as a timeless instrument of imperialism and an enemy of the working people. At its last meeting, the Party's executive committee decided to adopt a hostile position towards Cuba by declaring its support for the counter-revolutionary group known as “San Isidro Movement”.

According to Neues Deutschland newspaper, Die Linke - a leading member of the Party of the European Left - adopted with a majority of 90% a resolution about the “democratization of Cuban society”, with which it expresses solidarity with the so-called “dissidents”. Under the pretext of “human rights”, Die Linke's social democrats advocate in favor of the US-backed counter-revolutionary efforts in Cuba

The United States is the real State Sponsor of Terrorism! Hands off Cuba! — Statement by the Party of Communists, USA

The International Department of the CC of the Party of Communists, USA (PCUSA) issued the following statement concerning U.S. government's decision to include Cuba on the list of "states-sponsors of terrorism".

On January 11th, 2021 the US State Department unilaterally designated Cuba as a “State Sponsor of Terrorism.” With only 9 days left in the Trump administration’s term in office, the designation reverses President Obama’s removal of Cuba from the list in 2015.

Communist Parties of Greece and Turkey denounce U.S. decision to put Cuba back on list of "sponsors of terrorism"

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has published a statement concerning the U.S. government's decision to include Cuba on the list of "state sponsors of terrorism".

TKP: If you are looking for, you are the terrorist!

The State Department of the United States, once again, listed Cuba among the countries supporting terrorism as of yesterday. As if the outrage caused by the Trump supporters was not enough, this decision proves once again as the President of the US is leaving power the government’s officiousness doesn’t recognize any bounds.
