Communist and Workers Parties condemn the anti-communist practices of the Venezuelan government

In a joint statement, Communist and Workers Parties condemn the anti-communist machinations by the social democratic government of Venezuela and express their solidarity towards the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV). The full statement reads:

In the last few days, a plan of open intervention against the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) has been set in motion, organized by the ruling social-democratic United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV). On 4 February, small groups with shirts and flags bearing the emblems of the CP of Venezuela appeared in a staged manner at rallies of the ruling PSUV, declaring their support for the government’s anti-popular policy and condemning the leadership of the CP of Venezuela for opposing it.

"The PCV is in the streets, fighting for the construction of the broadest unity of action to confront the offensive of capital and its allies in Miraflores," affirmed Janohi Rosas, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela, during a press conference this Monday.

The statements coincided with a new national day of protest by the education workers, who had planned to gather outside the Ministry of Education but had to concentrate in the surroundings of the Central University of Venezuela after the National Government ordered a last minute partisan act to avoid the protest.

This Monday, in the press statement of the Political Bureau, the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela, Oscar Figuera, denied that the National Budget for 2023 as well as the Special Law of Indebtedness were approved unanimously in the National Assembly.

"The Communist Party did not vote in favor of these two instruments that were approved by the fraction that expresses the policy of the so-called "revolutionary bourgeoisie" and of the Venezuelan Government, in agreement with the collaborationist opposition", informed Figuera.

A few days ago, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez informed the country that "in spite of the criminal blockade" the financial sector had increased its deposits by 210%.

Oscar Figuera re-elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV)

Oscar Figuera has been re-elected as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), following the party's successful 16th National Congress.

In its first plenary session, the renewed Central Committee appointed Figuera as General Secretary and Perfecto Abreu Nieves as President of the PCV.

“We assess the 16th National Congress as a total success”, said Oscar Figuera pointing out that the Congress took place in a context of “threats, pressure and aggression from the government's leadership, chaired by Nicolas Maduro and the PSUV” against the PCV.

Venezuela: Communist Party's 16th National Congress kicks off in Caracas

The 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) "will deepen the line of broad unity of action of the workers-union and popular movement to confront the aggressions of imperialism and the surrenderist policies of the government elite that, in alliance with capital, develops against our people and in favor of the national and transnational monopoly groups," said this Monday the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the PCV, Oscar Figuera. 

This Thursday, November 3, the highest leadership body of the Venezuelan communists will meet. Figuera extended the invitation to the workers and popular movement to participate in the Act of Public Installation to be held at 3:00 pm in the facilities of the Cantaclaro Theater. 

Venezuela: Communist Party slams government for not inviting Trade Unions in ILO-sponsored dialogue

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) rejected the exclusion of the United Workers Central of Venezuela (CUTV), the National Union of Workers (UNETE) and the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions (CODESA) from a new meeting of the Tripartite Dialogue between the Government of Nicolás Maduro, employers and workers, sponsored by the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Venezuela. 

"It is a hypocritical dialogue that prevents the participation of trade union centers opposed to the anti-worker policies of the Government", affirmed Elena Linarez, member of the Political Bureau of the PCV during a press conference held this Monday.

Venezuela's Communist Party denounces "shameful attacks" by PSUV leader Cabello

Venezuela's communists seek to build an alternative to Maduro in 2024

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), Oscar Figuera, ruled out an eventual electoral alliance with right-wing sectors that have promoted sanctions or invasions of the country, the Party's official news site "Tribuna Popular" has reported.

"In the PCV we want to build an alternative to Maduro in 2024. We have no problem meeting with Antonio Ecarri, but we will not make alliances with sectors that called for military invasions against Venezuela," Figuera said during an interview on the radio program "En Buena Hora", hosted by journalist Mario Villegas.

Within Venezuelan politics, there are many challenges to be faced by the parties, especially those of the left which are critical of the current system of government.

Among these parties is the Communist Party with its critical voice and which currently faces the contradictions of a country that can be read from various realities.

Venezuela: PCV denounces the murder of José Urbina

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) condemned the heinous assassination of communist militant José Urbina, which took place in the Pedro Camejo community, Apure state, where the victim lived.

“The regional committee of the PCV in the state of Apure condemns the heinous murder of our comrade José Urbina at his home”, the party's statement said.
